1. Not if the arch provides more headroom for the passengers but still having the same amount of cargo space behind the rear seats as any present minivan. Theatre-style seating would require an arch to provide better headroom.

see QUEST. raise roof + arch = more headroom and cargo room.

edit- carbiz beat me to it.

    just looks excessive.

  2. by the way, its been said the outlook / acadia have similar wheelbase and size to a minivan, this is true. I also think the curb weights are close. So I bet with the 275hp mill and new chassis, the Lambdas should outperform these vans and give better numbers.

Let's see how the Saturn Outlook stacks up against the existing competition -

    Length - 200.7

    Width - 78.2

    Height - 69.9

    Wheelbase - 118.9

    Weight - 4722 lbs

Cargo vol - 117 cu ft

    Seating Capacity - 7 or 8

    Horsepower - 267 hp

    Mileage - 17/25

2006 Chrysler Town & Country Limited / 2006 Honda Odyssey Touring / 2006 Kia Sedona / 2007 Nissan Quest 3.5 SE / 2006 Toyota Sienna XLE AWD Limited

    Length, in. 200.5 / 201.0 / 202.0 / 204.1 / 200

    Width, in. 78.6 / 77.1 / 78.1 / 77.6 / 77.4

    Height, in. 68.8 / 70.0 / 69.3 / 71.9 / 68.9

    Wheelbase, in. 119.3 / 118.1 / 118.9 / 124.0 / 119.3

    Curb Weight, lbs. 4452 / 4703 / 4729 / 4518 / 4630

  3. The Kia is still pretty junky in terms of design, ergonomics, and looks. The first one was also an obese pig.

    215929

I have driven the new Sedona and despite its positive improvements, I can confirm what you say. Its still junky. In five years a family of four will have one reduced to rubble. The carpet and seat cloth will be shot, the plastic will be warped and brittle, and all the swtichgear will be loose and hatched. the sheet metal will be all dinged up and the paint will be dull and worn.

And the fact that the dvd's cannot be controlled from the front is laughable. Also laughable is the heavy ass folding second row seats.

The Quest is a sportier drive, but is no complete peach. But it would be the one I would pick out of the bunch to drive everyday if i had to. The domestric entries are laughable.

The Odyssey is not the kingpin everyone thinks. The interior is cheap and cheesy, plus its damn ugly. Dead fish look more charismatic.

I'd give the crown to the Sienna here, mainly because it best hits the middle. My test drive in one made me want to drive screws through my eyeballs it was so boring......but I know this is what most want in a minivan. It has an inoffensive interior and decent plastics and many options etc. They upgraded the engine for 07, i think, to the 265hp thingie.

I have concluded that there will never be a fun minivan so that is why now I say go Outlook and Acadia. Minivans in SUV packages.

  4. i just shut off everyone's avatar and sigs. Shame I had to do that, but it was too big a pain in the ass to deal with the slow page loading. Shame now I can't see everyone's cute deals, but even with a 7 meg comcast connection it was a royal pain the butt. At least now the pages will load.

  5. They test a brand-new car against two legacy models, one with a new model out in months and another coming out in a year. Talk about stacking the deck. Plus, the Camry still look like $h!.

    215805

    you misspelled sumetheen

    "CAM-LEE stih-rook-rike-shiht"

the 07 altima i saw on the dealer lot the other night had an MSRP under 25 grand. it was the 3.5 SE with a 6 speed manual. As far as I'm concerned, that is the raging deal of the century. A large spacious well mannered powerful sedan with a classy genuine drivers interior and low price. No need to compare any others. The competition is done. Maybe add an Aura XR and Mazdaspeed6 and that's about all there is to consider. Accord too for the CR losers.

The Camry is dung. Bu is dated. Galant can't keep up (although I like that car).

Ultimately my point is the sedan class is so large, instead of picking one car, they need to divide it into subclasses when picking winners....i.e. sporty midsize, this is the top 5. Luxury midsize, this is the top 5.

Instead the mags go towards their bias and just don't really reflect the desires of the masses, although IRONICALLY they greatly influence what people buy. And it's just getting worse.

Its all because as a society we don't think for ourselves anymore.

  6. yeah, we'll go in the tank, but as long as our people have the desire to remain on top, i think SOMEDAY the wake up bell will sound. the big problem is we need to change our business culture. so many deify our groosly overpaid executives. maybe what we need to do is burn them at the stake.

We're all so fking jacked because Bill Ford had the balls to bring in Alan Mullally to run his company because he himself failed at it. Now we find out the massive incompetence they have at running an organization. Well, why don't we just clean house of all the overpaid nimrods and birng in some people who want to get to work and get something done right. And they would probably do it for less.

I heard that Ann Fields was bitching about Ford the way it was run now that she's gone. Did she ever stop to think maybe she was a BIG PART OF THE PROBLEM? Maybe she should give half her pay back.

  7. in the last 12 months 3 friends got new rides. 2 got pilots. 1 got an avalanche. both who got the new pilots reported the mileage i stated. they have no reason to lie. The other friend who got the lanche offered his mileage up to me unprompted. he said the mpg was awesome. this was when gas was 3 bucks.

    i don't lie

and i tell it like its told to me.

since that original report the one guy has nudged 17 a few times with his pilot but he still says its only between 15 and 16 most tanks.

why would i think HE's lying?

  8. I saw a new 07 Altima today when i was cruising lots.

I almost did not pick it out right away. It was parked next to an 07 Maxima and they looked so similar from a distance, the average person would not know they were different. The only thing that gave it away were the tailights wrapping up the side.

Anyways, its just an evolution of the current Altima and Maxima theme. Maybe they should have branched out a bit, but overall its nice. The interior however, is leaps and bounds better. Its borderline stunning in its visual quality. Gaps are nonexistent. Its very cockpittish. The black interior needed some lightening up, its too monochrome, but otherwise, for the driver, this car blows away anything else in this segment. The sticker was on a base SE 3.5/manual and was under 25 grand. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN MY CAR!!!!

My fear is this car has now gone so driver oriented, it may not catch Camry and Accord (i.e. dull car) intenders. But its SO MUCH MORE interesting than those two cars, or the Mazda 6. Euro dorks who love Passats will still buy Passats. Auras are of a different style so I don't see cross shopping there. The Altima really is kind of in its own class now I think.

Back seat is huge, BTW. The G6 and GP look like dung compared to this car....sorry.

Its a great looking car. I would love to ring one out.

BTW, the new Sentra and Versa are pretty cool too. You'd have to be a moron to buy a Civic or Fit when the Sentra/Versa and Mazda3 are around.

I hope Nissan starts cleaning Toyota's clock....Honda's too.

  9. Match? While the Ridge's mileage isn't great, it is still good for high teens to low 20's in real world driving. This is from fueleconomy.gov and carspace.

I couldn't find much for '07 Escalade real world mileage, only one report on fueleconomy.gov here for 12mpg, and one post here for 11.5mpg. Magazine's observed mileage ranged from 11mpg to 13mpg for the Escalade, and 14.5mpg to 17mpg for the Ridgeline.

    214807

my friends get 15 in their pilots, i don't see the rdigeline doing better.

meanwhile, my buddy with an 07 Lanche gets 17-18.

    the RDX can't crack 14.

  10. i am pretty sick of people's animated gifs on their avatars and such slowing down or halting my scrolling and pageloading. I kind if wish those with them would just do the right thing and change them to something that does not make it such a royal pain the ass for people like me who have the fastest high speed connections even.

I'm glad someone brought this up, it was getting to the point where I would even say it keeps people from the site.

  11. Would you be saying that of it had a Chevy badge on it?  They both are ugly trucks, but when you need a work truck, you don't really look at the looks.

    214457

chevy would never embarass itself so much to have such a pig's ass front end on its trucks.

  12. the thread i created was meant to be fun spirited and bipartisan. Oh well. Side note, a friend of like 20 yrs or so, outed hisself to me and others just recently. i guess I have no gay-dar. i kind of knew, but not. Anyways, I'm just glad he can be open about it and be himself. He's pretty happy now in a lot of ways, so that's great.

  13. beef jerky appeals to the CARNIVORE in all of us.

Man's teeth cutting through dead meat for nourishment. YUM, beef is so tasty. Especially when its cured and so dang flavorful.

  14. only 2 toyotas on the list, think about that.

    6 fords

    6 chevys

if someone could just break the hold of the corolla and camry, it might just be easier to bust toyota than everyone thinks.

i think it also shows you that a large part of the population doesn't even shop. they just are told to get a camry or corolla. this suggests to me that toyota still doesn't have as wide of an appeal as the writers would lead you to believe, if so many of their sales are just 2 models. something to ponder.......
