  1. as others have said, it wouldn't be the first time...weren't the GMT-900 hybrids the result of a GM/BMW/Daimler tie-up? I don't know if anything else besides the short lived Durango/Aspen hybrids used them. But, I could see a lot of interesting things coming from this.

(If I remember correctly, GM had most of the work done, and the other invested in it, but I'm not sure)

  2. That's really going to depend on the size of the tank, and the calibrations, but in a car like the Cruze, I would expect it to last a while, as in the products I work on usage is optimized as a percentage of gallons of fuel burned.

Also, notice it says bosch vehicle on it...companies usually have to have placards on them that designate them as prototypes. This could be bosch testing parts (maybe injectors) that they are going to supply to GM?

  3. Name: Nissan Altima Coupe 2.5S (2011)

Short Description: Looking for a replacement for the Jeep and decided to drive her just for fun. After driving lots of other SUVs/crossovers, I decided to go back and run the numbers. With the tent event going on, I ended up with her and the Jeep both. Navy Blue/Blonde cloth. She's got everything except leather, NAV and foglights. Picked her up on 6/27. I love the smart key, Bose sound system, and the CVT. The power delivery is extremely smooth, and it never is searching for the right gear.

  4. ... Regal gets of course the GS model, eAssist model, new NAV, and electric power steering which will probably boost fuel economy a smidgen, remote start and keyless entry/push button start available.

These are all really good additions... I just test drove a Regal Turbo with the T7 package and even got it down to the payments I wanted but buying it in the middle of my move just wasn't feasible. The two things that really got to me though were the lack of remote start and the push button start. I don't really want/need push button start, but if I'm going to spend 34K on a car, I definitely want the remote start and the option of the keyless would be nice. I really think this is a great vehicle and these little improvements are going to help a ton. The new ports will keep it in the family too, and I really want to test the GS before I buy anything.

  5. Aesthetically, I prefer the grille of the old car. Not so much the size or design, but the fine chrome wire mesh screen as opposed to the black plastic honeycomb of the new car.

I agree, but it's the size. I think there is enough space to make the bottom half of the grille opening a little taller and make it a little more proportional. I also don't really like the rounded off top corners, but these are small nit picks...overall, I think the car looks very good, and I think that a nice evolution is sometimes better than a completely different redesign every round.

  6. There are many people that once shown the benfits of this engine and the quality of the car would take this over the over hyped Toyota hybrid line.

I agree...and if they offered it with a manual, or even the same powertrain in the Verano, I think I would be one of them...not really a hard decision.

  7. I was there for the Discovery launch in March of '09...it was really awesome, so I had to watch yesterday's launch. Sad to see STS coming to an end, but it's also cool to see that GM's Robonaut2 is going to the ISS finally.

  8. I've heard the Saab is so different that the car has virtually no commonality with the vectra / malibu. Saab changed so much stuff it basically became its own car.

I remember hearing this as well...when it came to the G6 convertible, they had to do all kinds of modifications because the 9-3 and G6 weren't similar enough

  9. I just want to point out the fact that size=luxury might be a sign of age (no offense to anyone here) but I love the Regal, but after seeing the Verano which is going to be available fully loaded with the same 2.0T and 6M, at a the price the Regal bases at with those two features, I'm going to go witht he Verano probably. There's a reason that Ford is selling so many Fiesta's with all the features. People my age (22) and even empty nesters are seeing all the fun gadgets and care less if they can fit 4 other people on a regular basis. 90 percent of the time I'm in my Jeep alone anyway. I understand that for some people these cars arent' feasible, and personally I wouldn't want to go any smaller, than the Verano, but I honestly believe alot of people will notice the higher content levels in these cars relative to the larger cars for the same price.

Then again, I've always been attracted to the "off" cars that my friends don't like, such as wagons and goofy european hatchbacks, so maybe it is just me.

  10. I like the direction Buick is moving in, and is probably the only GM brand I would consider at the time, but I would absolutely love to see the Avant concept in their lineup! (Thanks for posting that Camino, I'd totally forgotten about it) I also think the Astra hatches should come over, but I think it would be hard to make them feel like part of the Buick family. Now a Regal coupe/convetible to go with the sedan and wagon would be great!

  11. I'd honestly take this over the ML on which this was initially based off of. And I'd have a difficult time choosing between this and the new Touareg.

agree completely... but I'm pretty sure this would win...I love my 03 too much to not want this one...

  12. I drove from Laramie, WY to Mena, AR (just over 1000 miles) on Thursday and only stopped in Colby, KS and Wichita

Also drove from Mena to Akron today (just under 1000 miles) and stopped somewhere between Memphis and Nashville, and then again somewhere between Louisville and Cinncinatti.

I try to only stop when I need gas on long trips...get them over as fast as possible

  13. Well the chick is a birdbrain for buying a Prius in the first place.

You'd be amazed how many times we have customers who do this same thing... back into their other car in their own driveway.

This has actually happened to two of my friends...their parents have backed into their cars...talk about a nightmare...

  14. definitely 9/11... I was in homeroom in 8th grade and we just stayed there watching it on the news until they closed the schools...

The fall of the Berlin Wall, and the collapse of the Soviet Union are other big ones, but I wasn't old enough to personally remember them...
