  1. I think it's better than the Audi Cross Coupe concept. It has a more car-like profile. The low ground clearance makes it look almost like an Aztek, but I don't hate the Aztek as much as most people. And the X6 is much sleeker.

I like it's styling more than most current SUVs. People who don't buy SUVs for their utility buy them because they like feeling high up. That seems like where an Eagle-like car would fit it, but I suppose some would find the raised look too redneck or gangsta (I think it looks cool.) The X6 seems to cater to that crowd that don't need the trunk space but don't want to bend their lazy backs to get into a sedan or sports car. But it will be far more expensive than the Aztek with even less usefulness since it appears to be meant as more of a sports car that anything else. So it's basically a car for those out of the previously described who would have enough money to buy it over a regular SUV. And don't think it looks goofy.

I honestly have no idea if that means it's going to sell well or not, and I guess all I'm trying to say that I like it for no practical reason.

  2. I really like your designs, mxpx4jem. They look kinda like 80's or 90's futuristic concepts (which were the best kind of futuristic concepts). The way you arrange your view is kind of distracting, though.

I also like the Eagle in your sig. =D

I might submit a design, but I haven't been pleased with any of my own. I can't get the hang of this "subcompact" thing.

  3. The intent with the '08 was to complete the original idea of the Challenger; that if it had stayed in production beyon 1974, this is what it would look like. It's no more a plagarism of the older car than the Porsche 997 is of any other 911. It's the same car, just updated with modern technology.

I personally think the older models looks better proportioned, but the '08 is much cleaner and more refined.

  4. I want to see the other entries, too. Not that I'm at all disappointed with the final design, I think it is production A&S car yet. I'm rather disappointed that we won't see another STS with horizontal taillamps, though. Then again we may not see another STS in the future.

Agreed. The '67 and '68 especially were cool with their muscle car front end looks, and the last gen were really sleek; I wish they had made the Deville rear end look more like that.

I also like the style of the '80s Smalldorado, despite its size. I liked the simple headlights, they were nice and clean compared to the chrome lined TV sets up until then. Quite a handsome car, in my opinion.

  7. Best:

    2008 CTS - :idhitit:

    Worst:

XLR - I think it looks too flat all over.

DTS - It's not totally futuristic, but it's still very modern. My only caveat is that the back end reminds me of the '80s New Yorkers.

STS - It bugs me that it has vertical tail lamps. Sevilles never had vertical tail lamps.

SRX - It just looks oddly proportioned to me, which is odd because it has similar proportions to the original Vue, which I really liked.

Escalade - Not very A&S past the front fascia, but I think it looks OK otherwise. Everyone already knows it's a luxo-boat.

The thing that annoyed me the most about the recent Caddys (mostly the CTS, STS, and SRX) is that the turn signal/low beam clusters don't follow the same lines as the headlight clusters. The new '08 CTS looks like it got that right.

Just my two cents, because that's all I have.

  8. Hello, all. I've had this design in my notebook for months, I just discovered this comptetition a few days ago, and I cobbled together these sketches last night. It's an Eldorado Touring Coupe. It was inspired by the '67 and '68 Eldorado, and I tried to interpret it in the A&S look without making it too blatantly retro.

I apologize if the quality seems poor, but my scanner did not like the drawing much and I had to retrace it twice to make it visible.
