  1. I've had twwo SAAB's and plan to drive my car into the ground. My current SAAB had been the best car I have ever owned. I work at GM and although the current Verano and Regal are nice cars, they don't appeal to me enough for my cash. If I had to replace my car now, the ld Subaru could of been considered, but I'd buy a Golf. Depending on my mood, I would go with the TDI or the GTI. #1 option, manual transmission.
  2. I'm sure that his vehicle like I'm guessing all future Buick's is being designed in China. Looks as if it could of be designed by Hyundai.
  3. YES, and GM don't dumb down the concept. When I replace my 9-3, I want to go smaller, so the coupe or convertable will be just fine.
  4. 1-9-3 2- Next car will definably be either as 9-3 or 9-5 Sports Combi. As Bob Lutz say's, SAAB is the sweetheart of GM and he's right. They still have unique styling, although not as quirky as in the past, and have a Scandinavian inspired interior copied by no-one. My 9-3 manual weighs under 3,200 lbs, and still gets a 5 star crash rating. Why can't other manufactures get the weight down like SAAB can.(that includes every other thing GM builds other than the Vette). The Automotive future does not need Hybrids, it needs smaller, lighter vehicles', and for the majority of the nay sayers out there, get your fat ass away from the keyboard, because you are probably in just as bad shape as the Big 3.
  5. I really think this car looks great. It would be really nice if GM will allow to have this vehicle made regardless if it is hybrid or not. I think a small sporty coupe fits the SAAB image more so than the 9X crossover they had at Detroit, and the currant 9-7. Styling wise I think it is great and unlike some of the post's, I think the rear end if really nice and looks original and has a lot of the attributes we saw in the 9-5 concept that is elsewhere on this site. Some readers really appear as if they want styling that is safe and normal, and I like SAAB's route by being a trend setter and not a follower as well as just being weird. Years ago most European automobiles were just so weird in styling for North American taste and I think they should go back to this way. You still see this in cars like the Renault Megnane and it's followers and most readers probably would of vomited at the sight of a old SAAB 96 or 99 in their driveway, especially 25 years ago.
  6. It interior looked OK until I saw the dorky looking Automatic shifter. Put in a manual, were not all geezers, or cell phone chatting imbeciles.
  7. GM4Life. I don't know where you get the idea that Toyota workers get thousands of dollars less a year than GM. Here in Canada, Toyota and Honda pretty well match wage per wage with GM, Ford and Chrysler. In fact they probably end up with more money at the end of the year because they do not pay union dues. Every year on labor day the Toronto Star usually runs an editorial on pro's and con's of unions. It took one union member to write the pro column and two non union members to write the con column. I'm a union member and there have been times I have been pissed off with the union because they seem to protect the unproductive fat ass's, but if there were no unions, everybody would be working at minimum wage and be hired trough a temp agency. Don't think once that big Corporate America has nice big fuzzy wuzzy feelings for their employees. The share holders only have one thing in their mind and that's money and BIG growth. It was the American auto industry with paying their employees a good wage that brought up the wages at the part suppliers. When the off shore parts suppliers started manufacturing over here they started using the Temp system, and so how can an established manufacturer compete when these temps can be working for more than a year at a very low wage? You pay workers a low wage and they are not going to stay with these jobs, especially if they are working together with the full time employees.
  8. It's ironic how several of the posters have come down hard on the UAW workers and their high wages but not management. It seems to be the American way of accepting such wealth with celebrety's, CEO''s etc. compared to their counterparts in other parts of the world. Are the people running GM, Ford and Chrysler auto enthusiast. Some are, but the majority come from business backgrounds that are years apart from anything automotive, yet they will get such inflated wages and bonus's. When you see the poles, the former Big 3 are not making junks anymore. Sure there still will be some problems, but is it the workers fault if they are manufacturing a vehicle that the public does not want to buy? If the Big 3 still had their market share they had twenty five years ago, would any one be bastardizing the UAW workers. It does not matter where we are employed, there is always deadwood. I know there is a lot of union people who we can classify as deadwood, but you will find it in non union workshops as well. I think were the big unions have screwed up, was twenty years ago when they started to go overboard with human rights issues where as they should of been concentrating on the hiring agencies that supply the Temp workers to the work force. In the past the norm was always 90 days and you are full time employed. Today a lot of the temp workers are working over a year at a wage slightly above minimum if they are lucky and still not get hired on full time. This is where a lot of the new Japanese companies manufacturing in North America get their advantage. The former Big 3 still are getting a lot of their parts from the long established manufactures over here, where as the Japanese set up shop and bring along Asian companies who then hire through a Temp agency.
  9. As soon as you see the big H in the Hyundai grill it screams "I'm cheap!".
  10. I really like the wheels for being old style SAAB unique. But please get rid of the tacky boy racer rear fascia and the horrid looking exhaust pipes. Whats wrong with good old unpolished stainless steel? Put on some large pipes like on the old 944 Turbos. I am still not a fan of a all wheel drive SAAB. Keep it to a 4cyl. to help lower the weight and cost. Other than die hard Subaru and Audi fans, do most buyers give a $h! about all wheel drive. Sure a lot of people responding will say, "yay all wheel drive", but I am talking about people like myself who are SAAB owners "and" are we willing to spend the extra money and actually purchase these all wheel drive SAAB's? I like the idea of a higher powered SAAB, give it some unique wheels, but don't give it the look like some piece of glorified $h! you would see on the Speed Channel or MTV. Let the posuers purchase their M's,V's,R's and AMG's. The SAAB owner does not need a penis extender.
  11. We purchased a Vibe GT shortly after the Vibe came on the market. It had a lot of fine attributes, one being the amount of storage it offered. Someof the things we did not like about the Vibe was the cheap carpet, painted dash that scratched easy, the small starter that seemed to always take twice as long as most cars to turn over, and then the high output 1.8. To get maximum performance out of the motor you always had to wring the snot out of it until the variable valve timing kicked in and then you swore it was on nitrous. This novelty soon wore of, especially after driving on the expressways at 120kpm and then looking down at the tach and seeing how high the engine was reving. I always wished that there was a echo tec instead of the Toyota mill. We only had the Vibe for 14 months, because someone desided to run a red light and nailed our car and it was writen off. I guess it was a safe vehicle for us. North America needs more practical and versatile auto's like this instead of all of the stupid Sport Cutes that are filling up the highways. It would be nice if GM could design and build the Vibe on their own and then put in a more upscale interior like the likes of a Jetta. Now if we could get the urban cowboys and gals back into Autos and out of Trucks and SUV's.
  12. The 9-7X is not a bad looking vehicle, but if it lost a thousand pounds it would be worthy of the SAAB name. I really would like to know how many units of these they expect to sell, since Traiblazers and Envoys are not exactly flying off dealer lots. There is nothing shocking about the price since all vehicles in this ridiculous SUV class is at the same price point (ie. sell for what the market will bear). Now some of these 9-7X buyers might have to do some towing, but you can bet that most of these 9-7X will be performing urban duty transferring fat yanks from box store to box store, so why not save a little fuel and have some added handling dynamics and buy a 9-5 Sport Combi instead. Do the people who buy these SUV's think they are convincing the populous that we need a SUV because we are real outdoors people. F'K Give me a break. My outdoor love is Camping, Canoing and Mountain Biking and I manage this quite well in my 9-3 sedan. I sure as hell would not even consider a SUV because I can just walk up to my vehicle by myself and load my canoe or bike. Who the hell wants to use a step ladder, door sill or another person to put it up on a high roof. Most North Americans are imbeciles to marketing.
  13. The sure thing to get my wife and myself into the Aura would be to offer a manual transmission. F'K tap shifting, either you want a slush box or a manual. The Aura's weight is not too heavy, so put in the 4 cly. prefurably the turbo. The Aura is a nice car and should of had a manual in the first place. Some people have big issues of having 4 cyl. in mid size cars. Get over it. It was the same BS 25 years ago trying to get drivers out of their V8's into 6 cyl's. My 9-3 weights 3200 lbs and no way in the world would I ever waste my cash to upgrade to the V6. It's not worth it. But then I guess there is a big part of the population out there that feel if they have the bigger motor it's a sure guarantee of 3-4 inch's to the length of their penis.
  14. Looks like a Tiburon that humped a Camry.
  15. As per Bowtie Dude. I agree, I'll buy the diesel (any GM) as long as it's got a manual transmission. Why the hell the Aura does not have a manual, Grand Prix etc. will keep me in my SAAB.
