  1. The transverse leaf spring is cheaper than a coil spring setup, plus Chevy has been working with this since at least C4 maybe longer.

Naw, people drive AMC Gremlins (not Pacers) which came from the factory with a V8 and then they modded them out, they aren't too much bigger than a VW OLD Beetle (of course it was heavier), heard one guy got his running in the 7's with the original motor and the rest of the car intact (not stripped to a shell), they may be ugly as an Aztec but they could go when built right.
  3. Its really happening, I mean it is really going to happen, someone get me a kleenex ™, I think I am going to cry, god if they cancel it now I am picketing the Ren Cen (aka: GM World HQ).

Not much here in Michigan, Jennifer Granholm (our state governor) took care of that (our state government was supposed to shut down at midnight 10/1/07 because of lack of money), and as you can see I don't make enough to move elsewhere (plus the wife doesn't want to move, I tried) so I have to tough it out an make a stand right here.

You really do believe everything you read in the the media don't you, I am (obviously) a member of the UAW, I am a employee of Delphi Saginaw Steering Systems Plant 6, now I don't sit and work on a line I work in the machining dept. fabricating parts for the steering columns, plus I also run two furnaces for heat treating of these parts, yet I make less than $15.00 an hour, but my job requires that I have the combined skills of a machine operator, a millwright, a electrician, a pipefitter, a hydraulic and pneumatic tech, a computer repair specialist (IT), a quality inspector, and a pyro tech, I see at least 6 college degrees or certifications in what I do on a daily basis (40 hours a week minimum), but yet according to you I have an "inflated pay/pension based on market conditions that are making my employer uncompetitive", If you question at all what I do for a living (or what I have just said) you are more than welcome to come to where I work and spend the day with me (I can make arrangements) to see for yourself what I have told you is true.

You know it is really easy to talk like you do living in Arizona where the states economy is not based on the ups and downs of the auto industry, but here in Michigan things are ALOT different, and yes GM is selling more cars but who in the hell do you think is busting ass to build them, (and no not all of them are Mexican, Japaneese, Chineese, Korean, or Canadian autoworkers), and let see how you would like it if after working 15 or 20 years at your job your boss comes up to you and says that you need to take a pay cut and loose your health benefits what kind of mood you will be in.

Because in many cases that is all that is out there, and you take what you can get to make a half way decent living esp. if you live in the state of Michigan and you don't really have the money to move to another state for better employment, plus if you ship all of the jobs out to China what are all of the plant supervisors, manager's, accountants, advisor's, engineers, foremen and other anti-UAW crybabies in these forums going to do for employment if all of the factories in the U.S. are closed as you suggest, wiseass.
  9. For what? conspiring against the American worker, you might as well throw the Canadian government in there for offering free health care, since Canada has recieved alot of new buisness from GM lately (ex: the Camaro).
  10. Until recently look at the product they have been offering the consumer, unless you are a die hard GM fan (like myself and others on this site) what has Rick had to offer and really how much of that credit goes to Bob.

Something needs to be clarified here, this strike is affecting other UAW workers here too, sure the GM workers are on strike and the Ford and Chrysler workers are watching closely, but alot of UAW workers who did settle their contracts (Delphi) without a strike (sure there were threats, but NO ACTUAL STRIKE) that are now being laid off because of this, so when you decide to slam the workers (which in itself is wrong unless you have actually done the work, hearsay does not count) please clarify that it is the GM workers that you wish to hurl your wrongful accusations to.
  12. Guess what that is exactly what they are doing, because I work for Delphi and right now just about all my parts (for steering columns) are going to Mexico.
  13. Out of curiosity what does your wife do? is she a nurse? And have you ever worked in a production facillity or a plant and I am not just talking on the line, what is your point of reference?

I don't know, Chevy had that ultralight ZR-1 prototype that they called SS, but instead of Super Sport it stood for Snake Skinner, with Dodge waving their 600 hp Vipers in everyones face I could'nt think of a more appropriate name, even ZR-1 SS would fit in this case. Oh and the ZR1 (or ZR-1) name plate is no way more legendary than the SS (or Super Sport) name plate, just because only 2 Corvette's (from GM) ever were known as SS'es (the afformentioned Snake Skinner and the 1957 Corvette SS race cars [of which only 2 and the mule {which became the Sting Ray racecar} were made]) you can't rule out the Camaro's, Chevelle's, Impala's, Nova's, etc., etc., that contributed to the SS legacy.

Um you are a little off in your math, the article said that for the price of a fully loaded C6 convertable you could get a mid engined C7 I check GM Buy Power and for a C6 convertable and it is as follows: MSRP $58,995.00 and $66,495.00 fully loaded, granted these figures are for 2007 (2008 was not yet available) but they are not the $72,000 that you are quoting which doesn't seem like a big difference, but it is a HUGE difference in the monthly payments and the amound of intrest you are going to pay.
