  1. It is a gift. Whenever Bella catches a mouse, I always praise her and brush her a bit. They are doing their best to show you their appreciation or at least trying to do a "Look what I made for you in school Dad!". You should never scold an animal for this.
  2. Albert's cat Bella, after about 11 months of hissing and swatting at me whenever I walked by, has taken quite a liking to me. So much so that she now brings me any mice that she catches.... alive and in good health. She used to kill them and leave the mouse heads at the bottom of the basement stairs, but now she apparently feels the need to share her treat with me. Thanksgiving weekend, she ran upstairs with one in her mouth and dropped it on my feet, at which point it ran up my leg. Now, I'm not at all scared or grossed out by mice, but having one dropped on your foot and run up your leg at 11pm is a bit startling. Bella, of course, thinks it's playtime.
  3. My house is stone and stucco as I have a tudor style house. The "beams" in the stucco are covered with aluminum flashing.
  4. Reader Commentary of the Day: Mark Reuss, General Motors, and Rear Wheel Drive Longtime Cheers and Gears member GM4Life writes up his thoughts on Mark Reuss's promotion to President of GM North America and the hopes for a rear wheel drive Chevrolet flagship. Discussion - Mark Reuss, General Motors, and Rear Wheel Drive
  5. When I was Connecticut this week I had an "intermediate" which in the past I would have expected something like a G6, Aura, or Fusion..... nope, they tried to give me a G5. I told the guy "No way" was I paying $127 for a day and half rental of a G5. So he upgraded me to a "full size" for free. I got an HHR. I asked him how National decided that an HHR is a "full size". Told me it was decided by interior volume. I told him an HHR was great as a full size since I was going to fill it with sand. National has a lot of nerve.
  6. I"m sure that little fluid slip up accelerated the intake manifold issue quite a bit also.
  7. How many free transmissions did they put in with the purchase of an oil change? The Odyssey has an extended warranty program on the transmission (same as the TL) out of necessity.
  8. The Atlas engines just had a smoothness to them that the LNF didn't
  9. You should add it to the C&G garage!
  10. This is a great older thread that compares the quality of oil filters on the market. It basically convinced me to go with the Purolater PureOne.
  11. If the hood is long enough, an Atlas based I8 turbo could be a very interesting, unique, engine in the segment.
  12. Who is wealthier for it? Certainly no one in the U.S. Toyota workers earn less than their domestic counterparts. The auto execs would have to get by with being only 40 times as wealthy as the blue collar workers instead of 400 times as wealthy.
  13. Actually, a fairly famous world leader was driven around in this in 1963: His counterpart was driven around in a Packard knock off. The English prime ministers were driven around in Daimlers. The French President Charles De Gaulle opted for a Citroen DS. The Japanese Prime Minister used Toyota Crowns So yeah.... aside from those.... they all used Benz....or Cadillac, or Rolls, or Lincoln
  14. This'll end up in Politic real fast. Oh globalism humpers... where are you? What was that about free trade again? Remember the uproar over the mere suggestion that we consider limiting the U.S. C4C to purchases of domestic branded vehicles? Japan and Korea had the WTO on speed dial in about 1/2 a second.
  15. Funny that... I'm in Connecticut today, I could be there by dinner time.... got a number?
  16. Whales fahrt im Wales?
  17. <pwnage> That Jaguar XF that you hump all the time must really SUCK then because it's on the dated DEW98 platform that the Mustang rides on... and the Thunderbird did, and the Lincoln LS. <pwned>
  18. Says the guy who's given out more negative rep than anyone else . I've switched it to positive only.
  19. PCS has been dropping LOTS of hints about Zeta making a grand return to N/A
  20. The Winner(s)!! This one was tough to judge because there were a lot of great entries. Originally, there was only going to be the grand prize and the participation prizes.... but two entries caught my eye so much that I decided I needed to do more. As you know, the grand prize winner will receive this 1:18 scale diecast model of the 1966 Toronado. I have added to that a second place prize, a Toronado Christmas Tree ornament by Hallmark: All participants will receive a Cheers and Gears prize pack for entering the contest. So... time to announce the winners. As I said, two chops in particular caught my eye. Second place Dodgefan's Pontiac Silverstone: I like this one because, other than the wheels, it looks a lot like what Pontiac would have done in 1979. It has a sportier apperance than the corperate siblings which would have fit Pontiac just fine. First Place MRDETROITMETAL's Pontiac Grandville I think this is what a Pontiac E-body would have looked like by 1985. It's also closest to the ideas that I've had in my head for years but have been unable to put down to a photograph. There is no reason Pontiac couldn't have beat Ford to the punch with composite headlights. Scarlet Swordfish, I think your sketch deserves mention simply because it's great. But to me, it looks a lot more G-body than E-body. It would have made a great Grand Prix. Thanks to everyone participating. If you submitted an entry please PM me your address so I can send out your prizes. Watch for our two competitions to be announced later on tonight.
  21. I could see if Dominic wanted to sell the ToadSmasher we rebuilt a year ago.....positrack and lt-1
