There was mention of a 4.5L V-8 for the fullsizers and a 2.9L V-6 for the Colorado/Canyon, and based on the current DuraMax 6.6 specs I figured the following: Engine..........HP........TQ 6.6L.............360......650....=....54.54 HP/Liter......98.5 TQ/Liter 4.5L.............245......443.........(based on above calculations) 2.9L.............158......285..........(Same as above) These are just estimates....Maybe my math is wrong, but it should be close. I want a 2008? Avalanche with a 4.5L diesel and heavy duty 6spd. automatic.. Any word on the heavy duty 4 spd. getting replaced with a heavy duty six speed trans????

Just wondering about the possibility of a Tahoe SS, I remember seeing the Tahoe SS at the '05 Chicago Auto Show. There was talk back then that there would be one but haven't heard anything in a while. If anyone has info, give details please...like if there would be a console shifter, different guages, hood scoop ???? ( ;

Thanks for the info Newbiewar, looks like the Avy will be my next new truck! I can't wait to see the changes? the Z71 will make to the Avalanche/Tahoe. Sounds cool to me; larger fog lights, different grill texture, larger tow hook openings..Did you see the new Z71 treatment on any of the fullsizers yet? I take it the interior stays the same as the Tahoe, (NOT A BAD THING) but wish it would have some things to set it apart from the Suburban/Tahoe. Have you heard if the midgate is getting a roll down window?

Hey Newbiewar, Do you know if the Avalanche will have the 6.0 DOD and the 6 spd in the 2006CY ? have you seen any pictures of the new Av? If so, when will we see the pics?

Will we see the 6.0 and the 6 speed automatic in the Avalanche this year? 4 spd auto is old tech for this ride!!
