Given how close they are in performance, I have a feeling the "v-spec" or whatever GT-R will 1-up the ZR-1, with weight reductions and power increase. Like the article says, the Corvette is close to its limit right now, but the GT-R with its AWD has quite a bit more room for improvement.
But who wants a GT-R knowing it's going to break if you drive it too hard?

And finally, I don't believe he is as distanced from Muslim or Islamic interests as he has somehow convinced everyone he is. I don't think there is a Christian bone in his body from that regard.....and perhaps that is the part that scares me the absolute most.
Extremists on the right have suggested even that he is the ultimate "plant".....a way to destroy our country from within. Even I would agree that's an extremist viewpoint.....but you know what? Deep down I'm scared of that possibility.
This is exactly how the people spewing out FUD about Obama want you to feel. Take a second and step back, look at this with a rational mind. Do you really think he is somehow working for secret Islamic and Muslin interests? Why? Because he spent 2 or 3 years as a pre-teen in an Islamic school? Because Republican advertisements have told you so?
Do you think he's going to screw us all over just because he isn't as Christian as another politician?
Do you really think it's a remote possibility that extremists have "planted" him here to destroy our country? Really? The chances of McCain being brain washed during his time as POW are more likely IMHO, and I think that's as silly of a notion as it gets.

McCain would have had to select an incredible running mate, as well as had a different campaign, in order to secure my vote. When Palin was selected, I was already 70% sure I was not voting for McCain. She wasn't the only thing that sealed the deal, but a part of it.
-
I'd rather have her than Obama.......<ugh>
Because she's a Republican? Or because you think she would actually be a good president?
Palin has done nothing but erode McCain's shot for the white house. She brings little skill/experience to the ticket, and was only chosen seemingly for the look-how-down-to-earth-I-am-you-betcha factor. It worked for a week or so, everyone was excited about her, but then reality set back in.
Obama and Biden together bring a total of 44 years of senate experience, two juris-doctor degrees, history and political science educations, and a wealth of other relevant skills to the white house. Obama also taught constitutional law for 12 years.
What do McCain and Palin bring? 20 years of senate experience, navy experience, a communications-journalism degree, and 2 years as governor of the 3rd lowest-population state in the US (oops, did I forgot that she was mayor of Wasilla?). McCain had a shot at the white house, his experience and life is respectable, but he threw it out the window when he chose Palin.
-
Odds of McCain's heart going in next four years > odds of successful white supremacist assasination of Obama IMO.
That's a possibility. And it's not just if McCain had a heart attack, there are quite a number of other possible afflictions common at old age that could at the very least hospitalize McCain and require Palin to take over responsibilities.
And then consider the consequences of either scenario. Does anyone really think Palin could handle the presidency? Does anyone really want her to be president? Can you imagine her giving the State of the Union??
Now can anyone not agree that Biden, while not the most likable guy, would at least be a solid choice for president? He has more experience than McCain, a respectable education, and he's got about 7 years on him too.
-
Let's get real here. You guys honestly hadn't thought of the distinct possibility of some kook getting to Senator Obama if he's elected? You really think this will be the only plot against him?
I don't think anyone here didn't think that, this is just the first one to hit the news so far.
Sonny, there's a whole different set of people who would attempt something against Senator Obama, and they're scarier than those who'd try to harm President Bush. This article is a perfect example of the kinds of morons who are going to talk about how they want to knock off Obama. Do you not think extremist terrorists from other countries, who have undoubtedly made attempts at Bush over the last 7 years, aren't as scary? The main difference I see is that there are going to be more of the supremest type people making attempts from within the country.

I seem to recall someone else trying the expensive performance V6 hybrid thing before. How did that go again?

I have yet to watch the debate, I've been so busy lately. I'm not too concerned though, it's probably nothing new.
I did watch Powell. Damn, he really lays into McCain.

I thought McCain introducing Obama was the funniest part. "Prepare yourself for non-stop laughter!" That and Obama saying that he is glad to be "paling around" with everyone tonight.
I don't see how either one of them won, let alone McCain "killing it". They were both mildly funny I think. McCain seems a tad bit more comfortable.

While the idea is to screen for files that's properties match known illegal files, I have a feeling this can and will get taken much further. And it's not even going to work as well as they think. Illegal files can be encrypted in any number of ways, and media files can be easily edited to change the file size and properties. It would take file-by-file examination by a real person to actually prevent the flow of "illegal files".
But this really has nothing to do with child pornography does it? We know that the government would love nothing more than to completely control the Internet and all traffic, and this is just one more "seemingly harmless/justified" step in that direction.

I'm filing this one in the "I don't give a crap about it" detail file.
Right next to the crap about Obama and Ayers.
My sentiments exactly.

Looks like it could be photoshopped, but hard to tell. It certainly could be real though.

What a bogus list. Sports cars and Luxury cars aren't designed to light up the sales charts, so basing whether or not American's "hate" these cars on sales is dumb. The only vehicle on that list I agree with is the Kia.

I don't want more government. Cut the military by 1/3, cut Homeland Security by 1/3 and take the number employees and transfer them to the FDA, EPA, SEC, NOAA, NASA, etc.
But then the terrorists will get us!!1

And for those looking for a "clear choice in President" - you only have to go as far back as Carter vs. Reagan. Not that Reagan was perfect, but he did take the country out of the late 70's/post-Vietnam funk it was in, and prepared it for the 90's boom times.
Hindsight is 20/20.

That new stump speech? Not so new aktually
God I love Jon Stewart.
And Republicans accuse Obama followers of eating up his speeches, this takes the cake. It's not so much that it isn't a new speech, but it was announced that it would be before, and it turns out that lots of, perhaps the majority, of the speech was copy and pasted directly from the original mccain_speech.doc (not by McCain though, obviously).
McCain has Obama right where he wants him, though.
But really, anybody who thinks that one party's followers are more over-the-top than the other, needs a reality check. The most devout followers of both parties are all blind and crazy.

Oldsmoboi I'm surprised you tackled that herculean paragraph. It was too much for me to read. ;-]
I'm trying to remember the last time we actually had a STRONG race... when we had to think to vote for the best person instead of voting for one because we hate the other. Why are people trying to use this "lesser of two evils" cop out so much? If you are going to vote for one because you hate the other, do yourself a favor and don't vote. Or perhaps research an independent candidate and vote for one that you want to be president. It doesn't matter if they don't have a chance at winning, it's the fact that you are exercising your right to vote and not blindly choosing one. Every vote sends a message, even if it doesn't win any electoral votes.

I'm sure some of you wish you'd thought of this. lol
I saw that on a riced out Eclipse at the mall a number of years back.

Lol, reminds me of this one:

I'm on the way to work today and one sees headlines on the paper, the MSN home page and all kinds of crap. And then you can't help but think:
Aren't both Presidential tickets lacking?
At the time we need good leadership the most, we have (1) a reasonably likable but 72 y.o. Arizona Republican who picks a woman who just had a baby within the last 6 months and whose (national and) international political savvy is thoroughly questionable, and (2) a well-educated but almost completely inexperienced Illinois Democrat who delivers all this unsubstantiated rhetoric and sounds like a Bible church preacher if you're listening to him from the other room.
Out of 302 million people living here, is this all there is?
To the smart people out there, and I think that's almost everyone here: (1) doesn't it scare you that this small-town Idaho newscaster who went to a handful of colleges to get ONE degree... and winks.... could be your Commander in Chief? and (2) don't you realize that this man who is thought to be charismatic and articulate will hardly solve all of our problems and that the stripes of US flag as a fading inset within a large "O," as if it was a "field of dreams," is just a "pipe dream?" Seriously...it's a Presidential election, not a judging call at a Toastmasters meeting.
Yes, both Presidential tickets are lacking.
Chime in...but try to keep it civil.
I don't feel that the Obama-Biden ticket is lacking. Combined, they are brining a substantial amount of experience and relevant education to the white house. Obama was in the Illinois senate for 8 years and the US senate for 4 years. He is a graduate of Harvard and taught constitutional law for 12 years at the University of Chicago. Before that he was president of the harvard law review. blah blah blah.
As far as McCain and Palin goes, I can't imagine anyone voting for that one other than the people who vote based on party alone.

siegen ->>"What is so critical that you need to know about him that you can't find? If you can't find it on the Internet already, then it's probably something ridiculously irrelevant."<<
What- it's not possible that hidden information could be ridiculously damaging ? I give you two quotes:
"I did not have sex with that woman."
"In fact I DID have sex with Miss Lewinsky."
Dirt is admitted to when it's revealed and no sooner in the political world. I point you to Edwards locking himself in the hotel bathroom from reporters at 2AM. They all have dirt, some have a few tons of it. They deny & deny as long as possible. Some have alledged that BO is using a few new tactics, such as the race card, to avoid serious scrutiny. He obviosuly has shielded details about his past, because we still know only bits-n-pieces 3 weeks from the election.
What would I like to know? Thanks for asking, I hope you can provide the answers :
I'd like to know what he studied in the colleges, under who and what grades he recieved. His professional background is so skimpy, we are forced to consider schooling experience in the measure of the man.
I'd like to know details about his 'community organizer' years- with whom, under what organizations, what programs he worked on and what he accomplished.
I'd like to see a list of his clients and their case overviews that he handled as a lawyer.
I'd like to know even a little bit about his political allies and the Woods Fund's activities.
The man is a ghost.

Let me ask you guys this: in all honesty, is there ANYTHING about Barack Obama and his bid for president that you are able to question? Is there even ONE THING you wish was somehow different, or wish was clarified for your sake, nevermind 'the opposition's' ? An icy finger of doubt anywhere ?
If Obama in an interview is asked what organizations he worked for, or what he studied, and he dodges the question or refuses to answer, then there will be some eyebrows raised for sure. But just because bits of information here and there haven't been posted on any popular websites or attained any media attention, doesn't mean that it must be dirt! Like I said, you have the same tools as everyone else does to find the information.
I have doubts about Obama, sure, everyone does even if they don't admit it. There are positives and negatives to every single person and every single presidential candidate. I don't like it when Obama bases an argument on a criticism of McCain or Bush. I question whether or not Obama will be able to implement his health care plan how he wants to, and if it will work as well as he wants it to, and if it is good for America. I worry about how he will pull us out of Iraq, and if he will do it intelligently. Among various other worries or questions. Who doesn't have these kinds of doubts about every president? In my opinion, it's between choosing someone who is ready to be president, although he's a little new, but is an intelligent and competent person; and choosing someone who has few skills outside of politics, comes off like he would kill to get into the white house, and picks the absolute worst possible VP.

The only rumor floating around (not confirmed yet) is that Honda will be canceling the diesel-powered TSX, due to emissions reasons with the automatic transmission.
Otherwise, I have heard nothing of any sort of cut backs in R&D due to the economy. But then Honda rarely announces what they're doing ahead of a concept introduction, so if there were any sort of cut backs, they would be internal.
