  1. I've tried Vista 3 times now. I use it on my laptop because I have to, but I only do minimal college-related things on there. On my desktop I can't get used to it, I've removed it all 3 times. Even after customizing it and using vLite and making it work how I want, I still don't like it as well as XP.

  2. i seem skeptical too. the low voltage has to be to keep it cool...ish.

but it would be very cool if it's true... unless it's just a fake as in the cpuid is just not reading it right?

you have a SB750 board? liking it?

i'm waiting till after thanksgiving till maybe next summer to replace my hardware. an XP3000+ 1gb ram x800radeon

My MB has the 600 south bridge, which is a lower end chip. AMD's SB750 uses a particular connection between the CPU and SB (directly) to somehow boost overclocking head room by 100-300 mhz. Tests by hardware sites have confirmed it, but no one seems to know exactly how it does it yet.

I have a Phenom X3 8450 at 3030mhz right now. My motherboard hit a bus speed wall at 289 so I can't find the full potential of my CPU until I get a better overclocking motherboard, maybe once more SB750 boards come out I'll pick one up.

  3. It will be great if it is true. Up to now 2.6ghz has the been the highest stock clock of a Phenom CPU, which is heavily criticized.

I have strong doubts though; this is almost definitely a fake. Going from 65nm to 45nm won't suddenly allow the CPU to clock into the 4ghz range, especially at a much lower voltage than current stock (even though initial reports show that Deneb uses considerably lower wattage than Agena). There isn't a huge difference between current Phenoms and the new Deneb core Phenoms, other than the process size and the extra cache. When AMD went from 90nm to 65nm, their 90nm CPU's held the highest stock clock speeds for quite a while still. I have a feeling we're only going to see modest bumps in stock clocks, maybe a 2.8ghz chip at launch.

As it is, combined with the AMD SB750, the highest non-suicide overclocks Phenoms have seen is 3.4ghz or so, with very high voltages. I run mine at 3.0ghz at stock voltage, however I have a very very good chip. Many Phenoms won't be able to even hit 3.0ghz regardless of voltage.

I really hope I am wrong but everything about this news bit screams fake.

  4. Hmmmm... the NSX is from louisiana.... can u say "flood car"?

either way while 24K may seem decent for a clean NSX but 146k miles?

There's not many cars with 146k miles worth $24... the NSX is NOT one!

The NSX is a vehicle that holds its value, and is worth that amount assuming it is in excellent condition and hasn't been abused. It is a rare vehicle as well, which helps to increase its value.

  5. What's this? American automakers in trouble?? This is the first I've heard of this!

Thank you Ernest Beck, if it weren't for your article I would have had no idea. I am so glad you decided to take time out of your writings in art, design and architecture, to write an automotive piece such as this.

  6. Like being ungainly? The coupe is alright but I never warmed up to the sedan. It looks droopy and the cab-for design doesn't work well with it.

The Civic sedan may not be the style of car you like, the Forte certainly attempts to be more sporty looking, but the Civic has without a doubt a far better executed exterior. The design is fluid and coherent, and has aged incredibly well. If you were to sit the two cars side by side, the Kia would look hopelessly unsubstantial next to it.

  7. It's like they designed a better looking Civic.

You're joking right? This Kia has no detailing, no character, nothing to even give it one ounce of flair or to make it anything other than incredibly boring. The Civic, on the other hand, has at least 37 pieces of flair.

  8. The article is from a dating site, no wonder it focuses on emotional subjects and ignores all practical and important areas where men's brains are focused on.

Adam Carolla should do a follow-up article in response to this. Would be a great read.

  9. In typical GM fashion, I do like the design at first glance. However, upon closer inspection some of the design language bugs me.

With three minor tweaks to the exterior styling, this car would look 100x better IMHO.

    1. Make the side crease not slope down quite so quickly, and carry all the way forward. Eliminate the front fender crease and make the main side crease meet the head lights.

    2. The grille is pretty good, but still needs work. Make the bottom portion slightly smaller, perhaps just an inch or even 1/2 inch shorter.

    3. Get rid of the head light spike, and make the head lights more stylized by sloping down and inwards a little more, perhaps a half inch.

It's only 100% better looking than the Cobalt already.

  10. Really? All the new Ferraris look pretty barftastic in their red and plastic and stupid yellow painted caliper misery, IMO.

The other Ferrari models are pretty off-putting, but I really do like the body of the F430. It is nearly perfect in shape IMHO.

I love the Pagani Zonda, although the colors they always show it in are bad. Like the two-tone color.

In solid darker colors it is the most beautiful car there is:

  11. Yeah- some fantas-gasmic names there, all right, all right !! The vehicle designs themselves suck & suck hard, but whoopie$h! for the names, making it all right, right ??

I'll never understand such bubbling enthusiasm for whatever God-awful POS that comes from anywhere else but here.

All that matters is the name right?

I'm surprised a Chinese car maker hasn't come up with this incredible idea yet: Name a car "Sevenseries". When people ask what you drive, you can be like "Yeah.... I drive a 7-series, it's pretty bitchin". Just don't let them ever see it.

  12. If Honda wanted build a line of Scion competitors for the US, how about the Life Dunk..

    Honda_Life_Dunk.jpg

    And the That's:

    4020207.jpg

Which are both interesting, if only for the hellacool names...

Lol. Man it would just be SUPER awesome to live in Japan, you'd be surrounded by Dunk's, Life's, That's, Beat's, and even more exciting names!

  13. The City has always been smaller than the Civic, and this is its 5th generation. It is a different model than the Jazz/Fit, as opposed to just being a sedan version. Although they both occupy the same sub-compact segment. The Euro Civic 3-door and 5-door hatches aren't due for a redesign for a while.

The tail lights on this new model look a little bland, but overall the car is very nice, especially compared to the previous City's and compared to its competition. I would like it if Honda brought it over here. Americans generally like sedans anyway so it would be a good idea I think.

  14. I find the Alfa Brera, Citroen C6, and Fiat 500 to be fairly repulsive. I suppose I could live with them, but I find it odd that someone thinks they would be beautiful.

The Audi is a nice elegant car, and I would own one in a heartbeat, but I feel there are more beautiful cars available. I think the CTS qualifies more as a "beautiful" car than the Audi does, even though I would own the Audi over it.

The Ferrari F430 not being on that list is baffling to me.

  15. i tend to think a cruze with 42-45 highway mpg and no overly complex systems at a much lower price to me would be more attractive.

Don't think of the IMA as an overly complex system, it is nothing like Synergy.

I doubt the Cruze will break into the 40's as far as the EPA rating goes.

Your argument can be applied to every gasoline vs hybrid comparison, except it won't be nearly as valid in the case of the GSH. It is better applied when comparing something like the Volt to the Malibu.
