  1. Chrysler invented the minivan 43 years ago, and more than 16.6 million of them later, the Pacifica arrives at the 2026 New York International Auto Show with its most significant visual update in years. The 2027 Pacifica debuts a new front fascia that Chrysler says defines the design language for the brand going forward. A New Face for the Brand The exterior redesign applies to the Select, Limited, and Pinnacle trims. The new entry-level LX (the renamed Voyager) retains its familiar exterior and offers the lineup's lowest entry point, well-equipped with power-sliding doors and heated seats and steering wheel. On the upper three trims, the centerpiece of the redesign is an illuminated version of the Chrysler wing badge, serving as the anchor for a cross-car LED lighting signature. Vertical headlamps flank the badge, and the grille features what Chrysler calls "piano key" accents: repeating vertical LED elements that frame the lower fascia. Forward lighting relocates to the lower bumper, drawing attention to the illuminated grille above it. New projector headlamps provide a 17% improvement in maximum reach compared to the previous generation. On Limited and Pinnacle trims, the Pacifica performs a welcome animation when unlocked: the center lamp, badge, and signature lights illuminate in sequence, followed by the piano key accents at each corner. A matching animation marks the end of the drive. The rear receives a redesigned lightbar applique and updated wing badge to match the new front. New exterior colors for 2027 include Olive Green, with Steel Blue, Glass Gray, and Ember arriving as late-availability options. Eight wheel designs are available, including new 18- and 20-inch options for Limited and Pinnacle in Foreshadow and Machined finishes. Pinnacle Interior The Pinnacle debuts the most notable interior update with a new Blue Agave Nappa leather finish, a deeply saturated blue-gray that Chrysler positions as an alternative to the segment's typical blacks and tans. Seats feature an all-new Parquet perforation pattern, Sol Stopper copper accent stitching across the seats, instrument panel, doors, and armrests, and Tungsten Patina non-metallic piping on the seating surfaces. Copper Alloy accents replace chrome on the HVAC bezels and door elements. The Pinnacle's Ultra Console integrates into the instrument panel, offering dual-level storage with a large pass-through for handbags or tablets. All trims receive a new Chrysler wing badge in Satin Chrome finish on the steering-wheel airbag cover. A new adjustable-height power liftgate is standard across the lineup, letting drivers set a maximum opening height to avoid garage ceilings, carports, or parking decks. Stow 'n Go Still Stands Alone Twenty-two years after its debut on the 2005 model year Pacifica, the Stow 'n Go seating and storage system remains the Pacifica's most consequential differentiator, and still the only such system available in any minivan. Second- and third-row seats fold flat into the floor in seconds, creating a load surface with more than 140 cubic feet of cargo space. More than 5 million minivans have been sold with the system since its introduction. The combination that no competitor has matched also returns: available all-wheel drive paired with second- and third-row Stow 'n Go, offered on Select and Limited trims. The AWD system can send 100% of available torque to the rear wheels or to whichever wheels have the most traction, and fully disconnects the power-transfer unit and rear drive module when AWD isn't needed to reduce fuel consumption. Pinnacle models take a different layout: premium captain's chairs in the second row are removable rather than fold-flat (to accommodate the integrated Ultra Console), with Stow 'n Go retained for the third row. Powertrain and Capability The 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 carries over, delivering 287 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque through a segment-exclusive nine-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. With the available Trailer Tow Group, maximum towing capacity reaches 3,600 pounds, best in class, with trailer-sway damping and a heavy-duty radiator included. Technology and Safety The former Uconnect Theater Group splits into two separate packages for 2027. The Family Tech Group covers everyday cabin technology: Uconnect 5 NAV with a 10.1-inch display, upgraded audio, eight-way power front passenger seat, additional power outlets and USB ports, and FamCAM, an interior camera system that provides a split-screen view of rear passengers with a zoom-to-seat function useful for monitoring rear-facing child seats. The Theater Group is now sold separately and focuses on rear-seat entertainment: Amazon Fire TV built-in, seatback screens, and a multi-channel remote. The decoupling lowers the cost of entry for families who want only one of the two bundles. The updated Safety Sphere Package, optional on Select and Limited and standard on Pinnacle, adds two new technologies: turn signal-activated blind-spot view, which displays a live camera feed on the center touchscreen when a turn signal is engaged, and ParkSense-based camera activation, which automatically triggers the appropriate camera view when sensors detect an object during low-speed maneuvering. 2027 Pacifica Pricing The 2027 Pacifica lineup starts at $41,495 for the front-wheel-drive LX. AWD is available on Select, Limited, and Pinnacle. Trim FWD AWD LX $41,495 N/A Select $44,545 $47,890 Limited $49,705 $53,050 Pinnacle $54,910 $58,255 All prices exclude tax, title, fees, and a $1,995 destination charge. Dealership arrivals are scheduled for summer 2026. View full article
  2. Subaru unveiled the all-new 2027 Getaway at the 2026 New York International Auto Show, a three-row battery-electric SUV that brings 420 horsepower and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive to every trim level. The Getaway is the most powerful production Subaru ever built and the brand's fourth BEV, with seating for up to seven, 8.3 inches of ground clearance, and a 95.8-kWh battery rated for more than 300 miles of range. Buyers shopping the three-row electric family SUV segment may notice some familiar numbers in the Getaway's spec sheet: the 95.8-kWh battery, 45.6 cubic feet of cargo space with the third row folded, and 15.9 cubic feet with it upright are the same figures found in the 2027 Toyota Highlander EV, which shares platform underpinnings with the Getaway through the longstanding Toyota-Subaru development partnership. Where the Getaway distinguishes itself is powertrain output (420 horsepower versus the Highlander's 338) and its across-the-board Symmetrical AWD with a mechanical connection between axles. Powertrain and Range The 2027 Getaway uses dual electric motors producing 420 combined horsepower, enough to reach 60 mph in under 5 seconds. The 95.8-kWh battery is rated for more than 300 miles of range, and a standard NACS charging port supports up to 150-kW DC fast charging, bringing the battery from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes. Battery preconditioning is standard and maintains charging performance in temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit, a practical feature that many competitors make optional. A standard-range model with a 77.0-kWh battery will also be available in 2027; Subaru has not yet released range or pricing details for that configuration. Capability Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive is standard on all Getaway trim levels, with a mechanical connection between the front and rear axles. X-MODE Dual-Mode with Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud settings, Grip Control, and Downhill Assist Control are also standard, along with 8.3 inches of ground clearance. Towing capacity is rated at 3,500 pounds. Interior and Cargo Three-row seating for up to seven is available with a second-row bench seat; second-row captain's chairs (seating six) are standard or optional depending on trim level. Subaru claims six-footers can sit comfortably in all three rows. One-touch second-row folding and power-folding third-row seats are standard across the lineup. With the third row folded, cargo space measures 45.6 cubic feet, slightly more than the Kia EV9. Third-row-upright capacity is 15.9 cubic feet. Three-zone climate control, dedicated third-row vents, USB-C charging ports in every row, cup holders at every seat, and customizable ambient lighting are standard. An available panoramic moonroof is offered on certain trim levels, and heated front seats come standard. Heated second- and third-row seats, ventilated front and second-row seats, and a 360-degree heated steering wheel are available on higher trims. Technology A 14-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard, paired with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Two 15W wireless smartphone chargers are available up front, in addition to four USB-C ports for rear passengers. Five drive modes are available, including a customizable individual setting. EyeSight driver assistance is standard across all trims, covering pre-collision braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure alert, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, lane change assist, and emergency stop assist. Higher trim levels add front cross-traffic alert, intelligent park assist, and a digital rearview mirror. The daytime running lights also serve as a charging status indicator when the vehicle is plugged in. The 2027 Subaru Getaway arrives at dealers in late 2026. Pricing has not been announced. Subaru also debuted the updated Forester Wilderness with a new hybrid option at the 2026 New York International Auto Show. View full article
  3. The third-generation Volkswagen Atlas made its debut at the New York International Auto Show, built on an all-new MQB evo platform that adds about an inch of length to the three-row SUV and brings the most substantial interior redesign the Atlas has seen since its 2017 launch. Exterior Design The new Atlas adopts a sharper, more geometric front end. Double-stacked LED headlights run the full width of the nose, and an illuminated VW badge is standard on all trims except the base. Three new exterior colors join the Atlas palette for 2027: Blackberry, Sacramento Green, and Sandstone. A Completely Redesigned Interior Volkswagen describes the cabin architecture as a "bold loop" cockpit design, a sweeping dashboard structure that creates a visual separation between the driver-focused zone and the passenger side. Real wood trim is now standard across the lineup, and a column-mounted shift lever replaces the previous floor-mounted unit, freeing up the front center console. Three interior color palettes are available. Technology The base trim receives a 12.9-inch touchscreen; every other trim steps up to a 15-inch display. A 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro instrument cluster is standard across the range. Qi2 dual wireless charging accommodates two devices simultaneously, and a new Driver Experience Dial puts drive mode selection within easy reach. Volkswagen's Premium Speech AI is included with a one-year trial subscription. Rear sunshades and a power liftgate are standard on all trims, and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon audio system is available on the top trim. Safety The 2027 Atlas adds a front center airbag, bringing the total to seven. Volkswagen has upgraded IQ.DRIVE Travel Assist, and a new Emergency Assist feature can guide the vehicle to a controlled stop and alert emergency services if it detects an unresponsive driver. Powertrain and Capability Under the hood sits an updated 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (the EA888 evo5), now producing 282 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, a gain of 13 horsepower over the outgoing engine. Volkswagen expects improved fuel economy, though EPA figures are not yet available. 4Motion all-wheel drive remains available, towing capacity is rated at 5,000 pounds, and a hybrid powertrain is planned for a midcycle update. The 2027 Atlas will be assembled at Volkswagen's Chattanooga, Tennessee plant, with sales expected to begin in fall 2026. Pricing has not been announced. The Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport combined accounted for roughly 30% of Volkswagen's U.S. sales in 2025. Volkswagen also showed the updated 2026 Tiguan SEL R-Line at the 2026 New York International Auto Show. View full article
  4. Subaru of America has announced the first-ever Forester Wilderness Hybrid for 2027, bringing the efficiency of Subaru's hybrid system to its most capable Forester variant. The Forester Wilderness Hybrid uses the same Atkinson/Miller-cycle 2.5-liter SUBARU BOXER engine and series-parallel hybrid configuration as the standard Forester Hybrid, but output climbs to 194 horsepower total system power, up from 180 horsepower in the non-hybrid Forester Wilderness. Subaru claims up to 25% better fuel economy over the standard Wilderness, with official figures to be released closer to the vehicle's late 2026 on-sale date. Capability The Forester Wilderness Hybrid retains what made the non-hybrid model worth considering: 9.3 inches of ground clearance (achieved through longer coil springs and shock absorbers, compared to 8.7 inches in the standard Forester Hybrid), X-MODE Dual-Mode with settings for Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud, Hill Descent Control, and Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive with a mechanical front-to-rear connection. The last point is worth noting in a segment where many competitors increasingly rely on rear-biased electric AWD systems without a mechanical link between axles. The Wilderness Hybrid's approach angle improves to 23.5 degrees versus 19 degrees in the Forester Hybrid, breakover to 20.6 degrees from 19.3, and departure to 25.5 degrees from 24.6. Yokohama Geolandar all-terrain tires on Wilderness-exclusive 17-inch matte black wheels complete the off-road package. Power reaches the wheels through a Lineartronic CVT. Cargo and Utility No hybrid tax on cargo space: the Forester Wilderness Hybrid offers 27.5 cubic feet behind the rear seats and more than 69 cubic feet with the rear seats folded, with Subaru stating no cargo volume is lost to hybrid powertrain components. A power rear gate is standard, and raised roof rails with an 800-pound static load capacity come on every trim level. Technology The 2027 Forester Wilderness Hybrid gets an 11.6-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster with Apple Maps integration, and a Harman Kardon 11-speaker audio system rated at 576 watts equivalent. EyeSight driver assistance is standard, covering automatic emergency steering, blind-spot detection with rear cross-traffic alert, lane change assist, and advanced adaptive cruise with lane centering, among others. Interior surfaces use Subaru's StarTex animal-free upholstery in a Wilderness-exclusive gray textured finish, and all-weather mats with a cargo area protector are standard. Pricing will be announced closer to the late 2026 launch. Subaru also debuted the all-new 2027 Getaway EV at the 2026 New York International Auto Show. View full article
