  1. Door lock switches don't do anything to power windows. The window switch thing was years ago, where all manufacturers had to switch to a "pull up" hooked switch design for powered upward motion. I swear I read that like five times and didn't see that sentence. Interesting. I really, REALLY don't like that. Reminds me of my awful ML320 with all the window and lock controls crammed on the center console in a sea of identical buttons.
  2. Center stack directly under the clock. Well THAT'S unintuitive!! So, the big question now is whether or not there are 3 sets of door locks, or if the ones on the center stack have been removed. Very strange... EDIT: So after checking, another relevant question is if this change is coming to the Equinox, Terrain and/or SAAB 9-4x.
  3. I generally agree with you here, only (possibly) differing in that I want Cadillac to have traditional European driving characteristics (the direction in which Cadillac has been moving) instead of traditional American driving characteristics (softer, floatier) because that isn't even selling well domestically.
  4. Because VW makes an excellent impression for the first 2-3 years. After that their lease is up and VW doesn't bother to survey the second owners. Yes; that was my implication.
  5. Um, where were the door lock switches before?
  6. I only get favorable comments, but then again I drive an Aurora.
  7. Actually, not even close. Impala 18.5 cu.ft Malibu 15.1 cu.ft Cruze 15.0 cu.ft Actually, the Malibu is damn close to the W-body. The Impala is a W-2000, and not comparable to the discussion at hand. Hyper's Grand Prix and the original LaCrosse, true W-bodies, held 16 cu. ft. of cargo space, meaning the Malibu holds 94% as much. An Intrigue held 17.4 cu. ft. (Malibu is 87% of that), Regal and Century held 16.7 cu. ft. (Malibu is 90% of that).
  8. Because VW makes an excellent impression for the first 2-3 years.
  9. No way. Those brands you listed? The one thing they all have in common are ridiculously luxurious interiors with very rich materials (until very recently with VW, of course). Cadillac needs to up their game here, and by a lot.
  10. If we're going to address specifics with a goal of improvement, we need to get the details right. • The trunk is NOT disproportionately small nor shallow. The trunk cavity is sized very appropriately for the size of the car. What IS an issue for some owners is the trunk opening, which due to the tapered roofline, is relatively small. This only affects large, rigid items, tho I note that my son's 2x12 combo amp (22"x27"x11") slides right in (along with 2 hard-cased guitars and other gear). If you are trying to put something larger in, perhaps you need a larger car. But trunk volume is quite respectable. • Headroom is fine for me & we're the same height. • wife is 5'3"- she has no complaints about the beltline whatsoever. "Catastrophically" is without question an overstatement... unless perhaps you were talking about people 5'0" and shorter. The trunk opening is a valid complaint (again- depends on what you're normally packing), and another is the rearward / 3/4-rear visibility. Sailing C-pillars are the culprit there- price paid for style. I personally would like the car to be AT LEAST 3" wider, but that's also not a 'catastrophic' situation. I have to second all these statments as a owner of a 08 Bu. The trunk size is fine the opening is too small to get any large box sized items into it. Improve the opening and the trunk would be fine. The head room is not an issue and I am almost 6 foot. Even with a hat on I have yet to have any head room issues. The window is fine for my wife at 5'3". Visability is not an issue as I drive with the mirrors. I have two other cars with much worse blind spots and the Bu is no issues. I do agree the added with of the new car is not a must but it will be welcomed all the same. A little more room is never a bad thing. To really know a Malibu one needs to own one and live with it. While it is not a perfect car it is a pretty good car just in need of an update and features GM could not afford when it was last redone. Agreed. The Malibu is a great car; it jut needs an update for the next product cycle. Given what has been leaked, I have no doubts the new one will be more than adequate in meeting the demands of the uber-competitive marketplace.
  11. Agreed. Cadillac cannot ignore Europe, but it must only pursue it when it has the right offerings. As it is, Cadillac can compete with and beat BMW when it tries to (CTS) but it needs to fully compete across the entire lineup...not just with one model/product family.
  12. But you're thinking rationally. Any lane on a interstate is go as fast or slow as you like No, many states have codified "Slower traffic keep right" in the vehicle code, but enforcement is a completely different manner. In Colorado, I've found that it's generally enforced and respected.
  13. Please, safety "advocates." Anyone who has ever driven I-10 through western Texas knows that it is nothing but miles upon miles of straight, flat roadway. Everyone goes 85+ because there's nothing there--minimal exits, minimal traffic. If "slower traffic keeps right" then there's no safety problem.

Given where he's at now, I don't doubt he'll get to that Nobel prize that was alluded to in the article.

It's essentially "functional," mild autism. In fact, the diagnostic manual is going to be eliminating "Aspberger's" within a couple years to re-classify it as a mild autism spectrum disorder. EDIT: Because English doesn't work that way.
  16. Worse than the J- and F-bodies?!?!
  17. Because it clearly is in reply to the previous posts above mine by Oldsmoboi and Chris_Doane. Next question? na, that's the wagon
  18. I definitely have seen more than just a few "Legacy Lesbians."
  19. I don't agree. The Intrigue, being a W-body, was just big for the sake of big because interior room (especially rear seat room) is cramped for such a large car. Very poor use of space. Versus the Aura, well the current Malibu compares very similarly, and we know the new one will be slightly shorter in length, but a little wider in width--one of the few shortcomings of the current model. I highly doubt interior space will be compromised--like the 2nd-gen Aurora: smaller on the outside, bigger inside.
  20. Bull$h!, surgery chased with a script or two for some nice Perco-Cs is always AwEsOmE
  21. Tires look alright, but make sure you carry pepper spray because you'll have to fight off bull dykes left and right in that thing.
  22. Such as? I mean this "mass of assumptions and insinuations" excludes the clearly observable fact that you drove on tires so bald they weren't road-worthy at all and in turn made your car a 2000-lb. danger to yourself and others on the road, right? Fixed.
  23. Perhaps you didn't notice... the tread is the least of that tire's problems. Oh, I noticed; still doesn't matter--had you replaced that tire when it was bald like you should have, you wouldn't have placed yourself in the potentially dangerous situation of it having a structural failure like it did. You're lucky you weren't going fast on afreeway or else you could've lost control pretty easily and gotten really hurt.
  24. That tire didn't go bald in a matter of hours, dude. Don't you check your tread whenever you fill up the gas?? Jeez...
  25. Step one: quit putting out cheap-looking designs with cartoonish elements and obviously cheap interior materials. That'll go a really long way. Everything about Ford design is very flat across all their brands--look at the taillights of the MKZ provided: very little depth or detailing, oversized, cartoonish housings that don't look particularly rich or luxurious, very generic, plain sheetmetal design with little in the way of surface detailing, and where's the greenhouse surround brightwork? CHEAP Oh, and Lincolns need to offer something better than what you can get at Ford in terms of driveability.
