  1. Yes, the price is right - a Lucerne CXL V8 with every option except the sunroof and engine block heater has an invoice price of $32,751. For someone who wants a sunroof and block heater, those would only add $776 to the invoice. There are plenty of nice paint colors, but people who want the Crimson Pearl need to pay $411 more, while those who want Sharkskin or White Gold Flash have to pay $826 more. The Lucerne also has more interior color choices than most cars, with the Tuxedo Blue / Shale two-tone in addition to the typical tan, gray, and black.
  2. Besides people who just like the Lucerne and present Buick customers, don't you think that it will appeal to those who want something different than what everybody else is driving? I live in southern CA, and it definitly interests me. I need to drive one, but think it likely that I will buy one. Also, I am just 48, so am nowhere near to being "old." I also can afford (= pay cash for) just about any car I want, but the CXL V8 looks like a good value, while I think that it would be foolish to buy the far over-priced LS430, S-class, or 7-Series.
  3. Brovo to the Car Connection reviewer for being the first one to mention the great value offered by the CXL V8! It is obvious to The Car Connection that the Lucerne can go head to head with the ES330 and so forth. It certainly does not look like an Asian car, and thus offers a real alternative which has been missing from the market. Given the back seat space, and the modern appearance and features, it would be excellent as a family car, and excellent as a business vehicle, while it should also appeal to those trading in a Park Ave. or LeSabre. With the Lucerne, Buick has radically increased the range of potential buyers for their top of the line car. I don't know why the navigation system will be phased in a few months from now. Is GM working on an upgrade to their navigation system?
  4. People from everywhere are spread all over the USA, especially wherever there is one or more good university, and the schools just about anywhere beat those in most of the LA area. That last fact is truely a disgrace for an area with as much money as southern CA (and so much spent per student for such lousy results).
  5. Once people see how clean the air is, how nice the countryside is, and how inexpensive the houses are, it seems likely that a much greater percentage than many people have suggested will make the move. They can buy a mansion in the new location for the price of a two bedroom shack in most parts of LA. Most of those who move will adjust and then be very thankful that the opportunity occurred. After the horrible election results yesterday, it is reasonable to believe that taxes and regulations will zoom in California in the years ahead. The climate here is nice, but that does not mean that other places are not nice, nor that people will tolerate anything to be here.
  6. It might have it with the navigation, but if you have Onstar you do not need Bluetooth. We simply set our cell phone to forward to the OnStar phone number if there is no answer, then turn the cell phone off when we are in the car. It works wonderfully and is a real luxury and safety feature.
  7. The real problem is GM seems to think that a buyer who wants one or more of the features specific to the DTS will go from a Buick dealer to a Cadillac dealer, when it is far more likely that such buyers will find their way to a non-GM dealership and buy a non-GM vehicle. A telescoping steering wheel may actually be necessary for some people to be able to sit comfortably in the car. I may be such a person, as I am tall, so want to move the seat back to have leg room, but do not want to sit with my arms straight out.
  8. $33,498 (invoice) for a CXL V8 in Glacier Blue with the Tuxedo Blue / Shale interior and every option except the block heater: KB6 heated & cooled seats PCJ XM, 9 speakers PA2 17' chrome wheels PCK power seats, memory PCI proximity sensors, alarm, remote starter CF5 Sunroof JL4 StabiliTrak US9 CD6, speed Comp. Vol. AN3 front 40-20-40 seats XA7 heated washer fluid
  9. Yes, I think that the Tuxedo Blue / Shale interior will be exceptionally nice, and am glad to see GM starting to offer more interior colors than tan, gray, and black. I priced a CXL V8 with every option except the block heater (including the 40-20-40 seat which would be really handy for business use - space for documents, files, Etc. instead of a floor shifter) and the invoice price is $33,498. That seems very competitive. Yesterday, I have asked several local dealers for through the Buick website and am surprised that none have yet replied. Does anyone know when the six speed automatic will be out - the 2007 or the 2008 model year?
  10. Because no new design is needed. What they already make is just fine. By the way, its seems that the reason they do not make a better variety of cars, including car-trucks, is their recent lack of focus on anything except SUVs.
  11. A new El Camino already exists, and GM makes it: Here is the 4-door: http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/action...id=5&catid=1104 I would buy a Crewman SS as soon as possible if they were sold here.
  12. My wife and her sister went to school with a boy who always dressed in bright colors more typical of girls and otherwise acted more like a girl, so they were not surprised when he would up living with a "roommate." He came from a normal family, so there was no drama or trauma which might caused his behavior. That kid is an excellent example of someone who was apparently born homosexual. However, anyone who thinks that there are not rebels and trouble-makers behaving as homosexuals is fooling themselves. A friend of mine has a brother who is just such a rebel / trouble-maker. People who do not observe the attempts by such rebels and trouble-makers to recruit children are fooling themselves just as much as those who claim that tobacco companies do not try to recruit children.
  13. I have only been alive for 48 years, and know that gay did not mean homosexual in the 1960s or 1970s. I suspect it happended in the 1980s. Whatever, there seems to be plenty of evidence that some people are truely born homosexual, and that others practice homosexuality just to be rebels or trouble-makers. I just wish the later would stop trying to recruit children to their behavior.
  14. When was the word "gay" hikjacked to be a slang term for homosexual, and why perpetuate such an improper usage?
  15. The torque steer is something which should not be there at all, especially given the price of the DTS. It might be OK for a $25,000, or maybe even $35,000 car, but not a $55,000 car. Sorry guys - there are so many photos on the web that I never thought of taking more. The exterior looks good, and moving the license plate to the rear bumper and doing away with the gaudy "monument to the license plate" is a big improvement. The interior is OK, but nothing special. The seats are OK, but I certainly did not detect any special pillow effect. The seats in my 1988 Pontiac Bonneville SSE were far better. The view out the side windows is OK, but the view out the front window is restricted, as if the roof was too low. I did not want to drive with the seat all of the way down, but I had it close to all of the way down. I suspect that the cornering lamps on cars without the front proximity sensors will be broken many times.
