It will take somewhat lower prices in order to get a lot more people to switch from ICE to EVs. If people are paying the same ATPs on EVs as ICE equivalents, they will stick with ICE.
-
The smaller GMC Acadia should be a separate model along with the newer (larger) Acadia AND larger then the current Terrain. New name, of course. I suspect that a lot of people would like the choice of three differently sized crossovers. No need to do that with the Yukon and Yukon XL SUVs.
-
Why has Acura recycled the ZDX designation for their EV crossover? I know it used to be the twin of the failed Honda Crosstour a few years back.
-
The problem with full recharge speed is that it will reduce the number of charge cycles on those batteries. Once that happens, eventually battery replacement is required. While it is highly inconvenient for anyone to wait a few minutes longer to charge their EV, said customer should want their EV batteries to last as long as possible rather than having to pay for an expensive replacement.

A 2.5L 4cylinder is the standard engine? Are they taking notes from Mazda? Mazda has been doing that in their SkyActiv engines (virtually all models) for the past several years now.
-
Are we spoiled in the USA and Canada? yes.
When will I see a midsize car at about $25K, anytime soon? never, apparently.
Will we ever dump the two-box SUV/crossover for sedans again? hard to tell. right now, I doubt it. 😦

US: Ford Sold Almost 7,000 BEVs In August 2023 (insideevs.com)
Very cool for Ford to have increased EV sales.
That's nice. Call me when their EVs are priced below $25K fully equipped.
If Henry Ford can make an affordable car into a world beater a century ago, then his namesake company can do the same now.

One, The Century Sedan is still being sold along side the SUV. This is not a replacement.
Two, it is using the TNGA platform, which is used in FWD, RWD, and AWD applications, from the Prius to the upcoming Land Cruiser. This is not "$170k for a FWD platform".
I am glad the Century sedan has not been replaced. Who misses the V12?! I also did not know that the TNGA platform was FWD and RWD and AWD.

Surprised the suspension handles the weight of that Bull.
Still a BOF car. A unibody car would have collapsed under all that weight.

Ziply, formerly Frontier was here to replace my 7 year old router and wow, big improvement in WiFi and speed.
The upload speeds you are getting from Ziply is very impressive. Newer equipment (especially replacing anything older than three years old) always impresses with better speed, lower latency and higher throughput.

Interesting.
Which year/model acronym (GL, CX)/color/engine did you have with both of these cars?
I could see the Intrigue's interior cheapening up over time. It was very similar to that of the Alero.
If you want cheap interiors in later W-bodies, it would have been the interior of the '04-'08 GP. One can just tap on the sides on the console at its sides in the footwells and get rat-tat-tat. Sad.
1998 Olds Intrigue GL. The LaCrosse was a 2005 base model (i.e. the CX). That LaCrosse had the GM black tie interior, which was miles better than the previous one, which occupied the Intrigue and its Buick cousin, the Regal/Century. I suspect that if Pontiac did survive past 2008, the black tie interior would have been included in the next GP refresh.

Thanks for posting. Everything about it is nicer than the current one! Let's just hope they don't go 1.5T with this one. It looks like it needs more than those "90 cubic inches."
Thanks, @NINETY EIGHT REGENCY That is a sweet looking interior, with a console and more bells and whistles to make this version of the 98 even more interesting. While I don't like leather interiors, they're easier on the eyes when they're burgundy or tan. You're right - I remember the transition from cursive to lower case letters with no serifs. Oldsmobile sure loved their cursive badging at one time - and their cursive has been in my parents' driveways a time or two. "Cutlass Supreme" was always scripted in the same manner for a long time!
I can't say how I feel about the Aurora since I've never driven one, and don't remember if I've sat in one for any length of time. (Maybe at an auto show.) I recall that I really liked the dash on the first-gen.
While I can't say that the GM full-sizes were dowdy, Pontiac was always the farthest away from dowdy in any segment they touched - be it Bonneville, Grand Prix, etc. At that time, I was thinking Intrigue and then shifted over to LaCrosse. That said, I'm pretty sure I would have enjoyed owning the last-gen Bonne in purist form.
I have had both the Intrigue and the first-generation LaCrosse. I liked them both, but I do NOT miss the cheap interior of the former.

I hope you're talking Pontiac, because the very last Bonneville was probably one of the nicest vehicles among GM's last full-size cars ... and a huge improvement over the "upside down boat"/"jellybean" Bonneville that preceded it.

Rear angled view
They really did something right with these rear taillamps
The dashboard was a bit much, and they could have simplified things, but this cabin was comfortable and the dash had all these goofy things going on
I respect the last Bonneville. It should have been RWD, like the G8 that Pontiac sold until BK.
Personally, I would rather have a first-generation Aurora instead of this one. But I understand why you like this.

Have to say that the comments on this story speak volumes.

Sad that those comments imply that Toyota is resting on their laurels and that QC no longer matters like it once did. Hopefully Ford and GM are learning from Toyota's errors.

Exactly. Why would anyone defect to DPRK (aka North Korea)?

Doesn't Hyundai/KIA use mostly Chinese and/or Korean parts and merely assemble the vehicles here or in S. Korea? Locally sourced parts may be hard to find.
-
Lower the price of the BZ4X to $30K? Good luck with that. Toyota will have the Lexus LS back down to 1990 prices before that happens.

Badass.
Yeah. What happened to Camino and Balthazar anyway?

The NACS plug seems to be the standard in North America now, thanks to Tesla. I have no idea if this Tesla standard is better than the SAE standard or not.

GM is investing in the next generation of Full Size Truck/SUV ICE while they work through the transition to EVs.
GM Investing $632 Million in Fort Wayne Assembly for Future Truck Production
Gotta make that cash while investing in EVs. Or it is a really good fallback position if the EVs do not pan out before 2030.

A new Bolt is a good idea. A new Malibu is unnecessary. Most GM product that is selling are SUVs, trucks and crossovers of one type or another. Nobody wants a sedan now.

I know that some people want their CUV to have AWD. I have a question: why is it necessary? A LOT of people buy Subaru models because it is AWD ONLY. Unless you are buried in feet of snow at least two months of the year, in most cases AWD is generally unnecessary. Get better tires: it's cheaper and may be better than AWD alone.

I have a family member that grew up in the south and while Hubie is a hard worker and no doubt loves his wife, his lack of education shows up as he never finished high school. He uses those terms all the time and while his wife tries to gently correct him, he always questions why as in his mind it a compliment to any man or woman he thinks is good.
A very different way of thinking, communicating and it is thankfully going away as the generations change and more people better themselves through education.
Course with that said, I find it interesting that Florida thinks they can tell schools how to spend their federal funding. I have a small worry that we will see a very diverse split in education between conservative states and more liberal states.
I suspect that this is already happening. It happened with education standards years ago.

Wow. All BOF trucks except the Pilot (unibody). I wonder why that is. 🤔
