Not since Facebook IPO has wallstreet seen such a big IPO. With today November 10th, 2021 being Rivian's or RIVN IPO which kicked off at $78 per share and has since surged to $106 per share, a 36% surge on their initial day has wall street seen such a crazy IPO. Rivian at the current trading price has pushed past $90 billion in book value. Course this did not stop the crazy stock pop that is normal as within minutes RIVN stock rose to $116 per share or more than a 50% jump from their starting IPO price before gain pairing happened and now is moving back and forth around the $106 per share range. This has RIVN start at a company valuation of $66.5 billion and is currently worth just a bit over $90 billion now. The initial upsized IPO was 153,000,000 shares of Rivian Class A common stock. Since then on Tuesday November 9th 2021, Rivian gave a 30 day option of an additional 22,950,000 Class A Common stock shares to sell is demand warrants by the underwriters. As it would seem, one would expect these shares to sell as well. The gross proceeds from this offering after discounts, commissions and expenses is to deposit into Rivian's bank account at least $11.9 Billion Rivian has stated that they have firm orders for 55,400 of their R1T and R1S auto's. They have a commitment for 100,000 Amazon Prime delivery vans of which Rivian says they will have 10,000 on the road by 2022 with the full 100,000 built and delivered by 2030 pending any additional conversions of options for more vans from Amazon to Rivian. Amazon (AMZN) with their $1 billion investment or 20% stake and Ford (F) with their $500 million investment or 12% stake are both backing Rivian and Ford has plans to have Rivian build select EV's for them though nothing has been committed to yet. Rivian as per their own CEO RJ and based on patent documents is planning a complete EV family of products for both retail and commercial application. It would seem that Tesla is no longer the crazy wild EV auto company stock ride, we now have Rivian. Bigger question is how will Rivian do once Ford and GM launch their electric trucks in 2022? Yes Chevrolet shows the car on their main web site, but go to the corporate web site and look at the Chevrolet press page on their product lineup and there is NO CARS. This is very weird. In fact I see it is updated to show the electric and corvette now. Chevrolet Pressroom - United States - Vehicles -
Tesla says it is opening up it's Supercharger network to all other EVs globally, but starting with the Netherlands in Europe first. Here Tesla has added the CCS plugs to 10 of their charging units at their first station and it comes with a bunch of Gotcha's. Non-Tesla EVs charging at Superchargers: 10-station pilot in the Netherlands tests how it might work (greencarreports.com) Charged EVs | Tesla opens its first Superchargers to drivers of other EVs - Charged EVs You have to download and install and create an account on the Tesla App. You get secondary access to the chargers behind Tesla Auto's. You pay a fluctuating price based on the station your at and the electrical rates in that area plus a premium charge. If your auto does not have the ability to charge at the maximum fast charge rate, you have to pay an additional charge for slow charging. Idle fees will be charged if you are connected to a charger and not charging. This is a new fee for Tesla users too and is pissing off older customers who say they were never told they could not take a parking spot, charge and go to shop or work and come back when ever they wanted. Now they are being charged a premium price for parking. You might need an extension cable if your charge port is not in the rear of the auto as Tesla cables are short and those with charging ports in other places might not be reachable to the required back in parking for charging that Tesla requires. Some interesting details that makes one wonder just what Musk is thinking and yet he thinks everyone will want to use his stations and has now posted on his social feed that Tesla stations will triple in numbers globally in two years.

Sad day when one puts in a sucky Ferrari over rev'd motor with weak ass torque into a classic mustang. Better to put in the Coyote or better yet AWD Mach-E powertrain than this over rated junk plant.

Interesting, nothing on the Chevrolet Media site on this. WOW Crazy, not much options either. Very interesting that Chevrolet does not even state they have this car. -

And they have continued to fall every year till now with price increases due to short supplies, due to numerous reasons from labor shortages to production shortages all in relation to the pandemic. One cannot overlook the common sense of what happens to everything pricewise when something like a pandemic affects availability. Just like your post on GMC auto's, the crazy price increases/inflation will not last for ever. Just like technology is always obsoleting itself, batteries will also and the Sodium break throughs are coming at a perfect time to replace Lithium. -
Zero Emission Transportation Association Celebrates Final Passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act Washington, D.C. – The Zero Emission Transportation Association (ZETA) applauds the U.S. House of Representatives on long-awaited passage of the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), which is widely known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal. The IIJA makes historic investments in the electric vehicle (EV) sector by providing $5 billion for zero-emission transit. Additionally, this bill includes $7.5 billion to build a national EV charging network. The IIJA’s EV provisions will spur economic development and generate cost-savings for consumers, along with cutting carbon emissions and improving public health. ZETA previously explained the importance of the IIJA’s funding programs. The bill will now head to President Biden’s desk for signature. “EVs are among our most powerful tools for reducing emissions while creating new, good-paying American jobs as we rebuild our country’s infrastructure,” said Joe Britton, the Executive Director of ZETA. “EV manufacturing is injecting billions of new dollars into local economies across the country. The passage of the IIJA presents an unprecedented opportunity to accelerate the deployment of EVs, which will ensure that these benefits are delivered to all Americans—even those who never end up sitting behind the wheel of an EV.” Press Release: Zero Emission Transportation Association Celebrates Final Passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act - ZETA (zeta2030.org)

And this is one reason for why there is a huge push away from Lithium and Nickel to Sodium batteries where China does not control the material. Additional interesting reads. EVO Report 2021 | BloombergNEF | Bloomberg Finance LP (bnef.com) Bloomberg did notice this upward trend in those key metals that would reveres the downward trend of battery costs. EV Battery Prices Risk Reversing Downward Trend as Metals Surge - Bloomberg In August this came out where Sodium is 1,000 times more abundant than Lithium and way cheaper to extract and use. The world’s first sodium-ion battery for EVs has arrived (freethink.com) Even Chinese news acknowledges that Sodium Batteries while a few years off as they fine tune production and scaling of battery packs being built admits this is the game changer that will take away China's lock on Lithium. CATL’s EV battery breakthrough holds promise as cost-effective, game-changing alternative the industry’s waiting for | South China Morning Post (scmp.com) ? Breakthrough: Here is the world's first sodium EV battery (warpnews.org) CATL goes all in on next-gen sodium-ion EV batteries - Nikkei Asia I also had posted about San Diego University that had a production ready Sodium Battery CELL and was working with Korean battery companies to ramp up production. We will see bumps like the Lithium spike due to Chinese global control over Lithium and Nickel, but long term, I see this going away as we move to Sodium Batteries that have 10X the capacity of Lithium, more abundant and cheaper to build once production is up and running. -
A deity that might or might not exist based on a book written by humans that have shown time and time again that power, manipulation and control is what religion seems to be about no different than a politician or a corrupt business man. Interesting concept, and yes, a human or other life form presenting themselves as a so called devil will still want something in return even for a free hug. The Razzle Dazzle is much like a Seattle Dog here. I will take a CBJ dog please, love my meat! Plus one Puff the Magic Popper and a Doginator and a Dirty Sancho. Did you see where the Mach-E controller for the motors is only $253.50 cents from a Dealer in Texas. Randomly looking online, wiring, connectors, etc. are cheap. The biggest cost is going to be in the battery pack as always. Currently at the same Texas Dealership the GT battery pack that is in this F-100 is $22,230.01 Battery & battery assemblies. High voltage.. 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E | North Park Lincoln, San Antonio TX (nplincoln.com) Yet this same battery pack on Cheaperfordparts.com is $18,000.00 Cost are becoming on par between ICE to electric. The battery pack still being the biggest cost and those costs are coming down. If we do a proper comparison, a single 460HP motor at $9,500 or dual motors at $7,800 with 562HP / 634 lb-ft of torque in AWD. I would take AWD over the RWD every day. Throw in the $253 controller for the motors, some wiring and yes even the $22K battery pack installed and your still competing with a 5 digit conversion price of the ICE system. ICE might be about $10K lower than Electric, but to each their own, some will want the electric such as me over an ICE solution and as long as I hold onto my auto's, this becomes cheaper and cheaper every day.
-
And your comparison is totally WRONG! There is no way that you can take a $9,500 V8 motor and drop it in that Mustang and be on the road for $12,500 Labor and other hardware needed to properly work is still boosting it up much higher than you are stating. Motor swaps like this at a licensed garage are costing much more. Electrical Motor in AWD is $7,800 for the two motors giving you way more performance than the Coyote motor. You still need the proper wiring harness, chip, exhaust connection, transmission connections, brakes and more and the cost, labor miscellaneous cost will have you more in the $25K to $30K easily for that Coyote swap. 99% of people DO NOT do their own swaps like you. If they wanted that Coyote swap, they will go to a garage and have all the same added costs that an electric swap will cost. The two pictures posted in the story is the electric motors.
-
The pricing still is cheaper than current equal performance ICE motors and the labor to have it installed and setup. Same thing with ICE, take a $7,500 auto, put in a $25K ICE motor and still have to have a new wiring harness, chip and any other mechanical changes and that ICE auto will still only be worth the $57K. This is no difference than your lovely 1964 Pontiac. Still not worth the money that one puts into it. Restoration is a labor of love to those that CHOOSE to restore the auto. I see every Friday at the local Taco Time here a ton of old auto's that have been restored and clearly they would not sell for anywhere near the money put into them for that ICE auto. It is choices and right now going electrical is clearly cheaper in everything other than the battery pack which costs are dropping yearly on. Right now the Controller cost for the electric motor is $253.50 per a Ford Dealership San Antonio Texas. Ford Mustang Mach-E Engine Control Module. MODULE - ENGINE CONTROL - EEC. CHARGING & CONTROL - MJ9Z12A650A | North Park Lincoln, San Antonio TX (nplincoln.com) Considering that this Ford F-100 was built using Mach-E GT parts, looking at the list for other parts still shows this to be a much cheaper solution than many of the V8 ICE crate motors. I also can see this and if Ford put's together a Connect and Cruise package like GM has been doing and has stated they will do with their electric motors so that you have a complete package of motors, controllers, wiring and battery pack, this makes converting / restoration of an older auto with a 21st century powertrain awesome.
