  1. Interesting vid. the F150 impressed me a lot how steady it looked, and the Silverado didn't look too bad either. The a$$ end of the Turdra reminded me of a big fat broad trying to dance... and equally repulsive. Kinda like vehicular cellulite.

  2. Fusion/Milan/MKZ... bump the 3.5 up a bit and give us a damn STICK with it already!!!

Taurus/X/Sable... see above and tighten up the supension a bit.

and give me a damn Crown Vic/Grand Marquis with the 300hp Mustang GT motor!!!

  3. I am wondering how much fuel economy being a hybrid really adds. I drive a Scion xB ( I know, the most hated car at Cheers and Gears) same basic 1.5 as the Prius. last three tanks were 34.8, 35.7, and 38.8 m.p.g.

Car has Aerodynamics of a Brick...soft tires, driven reasonably aggressively

Question-would the 1.5 in a Prius Body shell without the additional weight of batteries, electrical motors and such, driven carefully perhaps deliver the 41-45 m.p.,g most Prisu owners report?

Wondering if Hybrid drive does anything for fuel economy at all.

Honda Civic Hybrid, driven carefully, 42 m.p.g from a discussion with someone I know.

Another person has the same basic car as a gas 5 speed and drives carefully and gets...40 to 42 m.p.g on the highway.

The damned Cavalier in my sig got an honest 44.5 a couple of times when I was real gentle and ran it at 55 without stopping between fuel ups.

Methinks perhaps a small diesel is a better bet...

    Chris

bring back a new incarnation of the original diesel Rabbit. those little beasts were slow but would hit 50 mpg with ease.
  4. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Perhaps Accord buyers don't think that the Accord looks so bad... perhaps they even like it. Perhaps beauty to them is having lower payments on their next car because they have so much equity in their trade... or perhaps beauty is sleeping in a bit longer because you aren't running your car to the shop.

you're right... beauty IS in the eye of the beholder. i am sure there are more than a few men that think rosie o'donnell is the hottest woman they have ever seen. but does that really make it so? i think not. and as for that mythical honda reliability, my sister has poured WAY more money into her 150k 99 civic than i have into my 150k 95 grand marquis...
  5. 2008 Honda Accord = BIG f@#king snore.

It just goes to prove my theory that if you took the badges off of most Asian cars, you couldn't tell them apart. I would've thought this was a Kia or Hyundai if they hadn't told me it was a Honda.

Worse yet, if you put a Honda "H" on an AMC Pacer or an Aztek, the Hondahumpers would be all over themselves buying them up. IMHO they're worse than the Toyotahumpers at denial...
  6. You know, I should hold my mouth until I find out whether Ford has chain driven cams or belt driven ones on their OHC's.

searching a bit more, it seems most if not all toyota's 'trucks' have timing belts.

ford's ohc V8's have always been chain driven. and i've seen quite a few with over 300k that have never been apart. timing belts on a V8? WTF?!?!?
  7. huh. so there is no problem according to honda, but we'll settle it anyhow? with their deep pockets they could have easily won this case IF there was no merit to it. makes one wonder...

  8. i'm surprised noone has commented on thet grotesque steering wheel and the ridiculous HVAC controls. just WHY does honda ALWAYS get a free pass? is their kool-aide better than everyone elses?

  9. a solid triple IMHO. front's just a little chunky looking, and a front plate bracket is going to look like shiite. back looks just fine to me as well. as for the interior? WOW!!! DAMN nicely done! love the wood trim around the dash. far more style than gawdawful bland camryand accord.

  10. i just need to know from those of you that like the fj... why??? that thing gives the aztek a run for the money as the ugliest vehicle ever. it's ungainly, chunky, oddly porportioned, and is about as sexy as a drunken rosie o'donnell. as much as i hate toyota it has nothing on the legendary original fj.

  11. Honda Light Trucks May Gain V6 Diesel

In an interview with Automotive News, Honda's CEO, Takeo Fukui said that the automaker's newly developed diesel technology will find its way into their light truck offerings of the future.

The vehicles identified by Fukui as being the likely recipients of a V6 diesel are the Ridgeline pickup, Pilot SUV and Odyssey minivan, with Acura's MDX also being a candidate for oil-burning power.

The V6 engine is currently under development and will likely debut sometime after Honda introduces their 2.2-liter diesel in 2009.

this would be new if honda actually made trucks.
  12. in my experience, GM products take the salt the best of any mfr.  I was beyond shocked, my sister put 200,000+ on her Beretta in harsh MN climate and it still had no major rust problems when she FINALLY unloaded it.  Nearly everyone else I know of with GM products in winter salt has outperformed most furrin competition.

got to agree there. around here (greater cleveland) there are large numbers of 15-20 yr old ford and gm cars, but the korean and japanese cars don't seem to get past 10 yrs before they start colapsingunder their own weight. my old winter beater 91 grand marquis is still going, 250k and finally has a rusthole in the lower left quarter. and i don't baky it at all. hasn't seen a carwash in at least 2 yrs. try that with a hyundai.
  13. I refer to DRL's as "idiot lights" and will not own a vehicle with them unless it can be defeated. (you have to know which wire to cut in the right relay) I know GM offers a couple of vehicles with the ability to defeat the DRL's, why not on everything? Same goes for airbags. In my wife's car we have the fuse pulled, as she is a petite woman and would get creamed. We always use our seatbelts though, without fail. Why can't there be a "keyed defeat switch" like in the front seat of pickups for all vehicles?

:withstupid: i agree. having been injured TWICE by deploying bags give me EVERY RIGHT to disable the peices of sh!t. first time i had to have slivers of glass removed from my eyes due to the damn bag being designed to deflect off the windshield. second time i had my hand broken when the stupid bag propelled it into the windshield. as for drl's, i challenge anyone to find me absolute undeniable PROOF that anyone has ever been saved by that crap. and please, no anecdotal crap like "well, i know it helped when...". i am sick to death of all these nannys in dc (and i'm sure in ottawa) think they need to save me. IT IS NOT THEIR JOB!!! i will never own a vehicle with drls. period. it may the single stupidest automotive invention ever. think about it, if you need other cars to have their lights on so you can see them, you have no business driving. if we would just start teaching people HOW to drive, we could reduce accidents to nearly nothing. drls don't do a hill of sh!t's worth of good when people JUST DON"T PAY ATTENTION TO DRIVING!!!
