  1. Reg somehow managed to get his hands on one of my pics and is now trying to pass it off as his own.  The nerve!

    damn! caught again!

    okay, here's me then.......

  2. America sometimes is about investment and lots of folks have put themselves in debt to tens of thousands of bucks to get their higher education, for exactly the reason that its more exclusive and specialized and higher pay traditionally goes with it. We all had that choice at age 16,17,18 whatever. Get decent grades, save some dough, get into college, study your ass off....and in return you have a lot less chance of having to have a union do your bargaining and set your worth for you. Your worth is instead defined by your ambition, work, continuing education, and desire to always achieve more. Before anyone says anything about some kids couldn't go to college for this reason/that reason...I'd like to know what those are. I worked full time most of my way through college, couldn't get any student loans (I amassed less than a thousand bucks in loans) and my parents didn't hand much cash over to me. If you have kids, its all to important to make sure they feel the need and desire to get some sort of higher education after graduating high school. Those that don't take it upon themselves to develop their skills or career, well, then I could see why you would be interested in someone or some group having to bargain for all that stuff for you.
  3. Definetly Tomlinson, he's never actually led the league in rushing, but over the past four years he has the most rushing yards of anyone, plus he scores a lot of touchdowns.

    If you really need touchdowns though (Tomlinson will probably get like 20) then I'd go with Culpepper... He can make things happen by running (unlike Manning) and I think he threw for 39 TDs last year. Sure, he doesn't have Randy Moss anymore, but the Vikings have a couple new receivers that are supposed to be pretty good.

    I watched some of my Vikings play tonight!

    I try never to pick the home team though. Even Culpepper, he burned me bad 2-3 years ago.
  4. And the unions need to be really careful. With GM becoming more global and having announced cars off the same platforms will be able to be built all over the world, a strike would only push GM to start building that car in the other country until the workers decide they cant strike anymore. Very smart move for GM.

    YOU GOT IT!
  5. Untill you have walked the walk I suggest you dont talk the talk. What was it you said you would be getting paid with this job you have lined up with the real estate scammers ? And just what positive effect is your "trade" or "skill" going to contribute to society ? Insane inflation ? Market manipulation ? Just guessing I really dont know.

    I have never in my life know anyone to wish bad on people like I have heard you do. Whos lined up for the jobs in aircraft repair and maintenance ? What skill is it you have that is so great you think mechanics belong in trailer parks or the slums with the crack heads.

    They are trying to be part of the 21 century, they are trying to live a decent life in the world with the rest of YOU inflation contributers. Ever think they might have a morgage? ever think they might have children in college? ever think they might have 400 a month going out just in land and school taxes ? ever think they might be a duel working family that has 2 car payments every month ? ever think maybe they just get by in this ever increasing expensive world ? ever think ? do you ?

    [post="4574"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

    razor, everyone lives like that these days. and that's exactly the deal. The general public sees union member compensation as above and beyond the US norm, and since everyone needs to pay for those things you listed, it just makes others upset to see those with more security and benefits being so vehemently vocal about it not being enough, when so many think its better than what they get. And when that happens, the whole 'bring down the fat cat' arguments is useless, because so many in America would prefer the unions go down first before anything else.
  6. So, now the Accord sedan has the V-6 6-speed option.  And a TON of extra safety features at a reasonable price.  Malibu and G6 are history.  Fusion and Milan too.

    [post="4340"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

    is that west palm harry or west hairy palm? ;) :blink:

    Wow, the accord 6 speed option int the sedan raises my eyebrows A LOT! Honda has multiairbags and ABS etc. STANDARD across the board. Plus, its got a nice OHC motor. I had better research this! Now i don't have to laugh out loud when i see GTP G6's with 30,000 stickers just to be able to get a manual transmission. I don't mind the SE-R altima but am sick of its looks and wary of Nissan quality, aside from the fabulous motor. I'll be interested to see if base maximas will still be able to get 6 speeds.
  7. Once again its simple, very , very simple, we cant have thousands of people out on the highways in rush hour traffic in RWD cars on snowy days - Simple

    [post="4329"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

    thank you. now matter how qualified and thoughtful many of us on C&G might be about keeping RWD on track, think about the other 99% and their attention and skill level. We'd all be toast in no time.
  8. SWB vans are a nice niche product. they are much nicer drives than the LWB models, more nimble. More garageable. Cheaper. Some families really only want a big hatchback with a very occasional thrid row seat and i think that's what a SWB van provides. IMHO, even if they were only 10-15% of minivan production its worth keeping. A SWB van would be a good step up product from my Aztek or a Rendezvous. GM will flood the market soon with crossovers so maybe the shelf life for SWB vans here is not great. If you notice, Dodge shares many exterior body panels between the SWB and LWB models. Even the side doors. New Dodge SWB vans go as cheap as 16 grand new which allows many families and folks who want space, into the market cheap. That's cheaper than a like equipped Vibe for example. Fleets, universities, care facilities, etc. seem to like the SWB vans too.
  9. i followed an 06 this morning for about 2 miles. the new Impala is much more rakish than the last one, yet still is conservative enough to appeal to camry types. the rear end design is clean and well executed and the assembly quality is very good. small gaps. too bad the front end is not great. boy that back seat area is small
  10. Mostly a scoring based league, about 75% touchdowns etc. and 25% yardage bonuses. I have the number one pick in a twelve team league. I do not pick again until 24 and 25. Manning, Tomlinson, Alexander, or Priest Holmes? Someone please help me!!!!! Others, please ask your fantasy football questions here.....
  11. Damn, I'm kinda late on this one.....but here he goes with his anti-RWD crusade again.  It's like he has stock in FWD or something.  :rolleyes:

    I have a 2005 Chrysler 300 Touring, and it's awesome in the snow and slick conditions.  The ESP is simply amazing.  You can't spin the car out if you tried......and believe me, I tried.  Plus, it's fun doing donuts when you turn it off!

    Just wanted to respond so people didn't just hear one side of the story.  I guess the hundreds of 300's and Magnums that I've seen in Northern Ohio and SE Michigan are all gonna be put up in garages for the winter??  I don't think so.

    [post="3210"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

    And my neighbor, who works for Dodge corporation himself, says the 300's and Magnums all suck in snow, regardless of the hype.

    Tomato, tomato. I'm not putting down 30 grand on the CHANCE any of that electro garbage works. I already tried that on my Tbird, the whole trac control thing. Sure the newer systems are improved a lot. But ESP does not solve the weight distribution issue. Too many of the RWD cars I've had have had issues in winter. Stories I hear from others are no different. I'm not putting faith in a long wheelbase, nose heavy, rear wheel drive car to be trustworthy in a MN winter. I love shitties in the snow as much as anyone, but I don't want what else comes with it.

    brew, why don't you tell us if you're riding your stock all seasons in winter........
  12. well, as far as FWD versus RWD, I'm afraid that you'll have to build RWD if only to appease the automotive press.  They are convinced (even though they are about as close to the average driver as Paris Hilton is to the average American) that FWD is the kiss of death: apparently the din of these people is enough to drown out the fact that for most people, their car could be run by voodoo and they wouldn't care if it got them from point A to point B with some alacrity in most weather conditions.

    As for anything else, my dear intern, here's what I care about.  I'd like the interior to look nice, and have some soft-touch surfaces.  I would like those surfaces not to disintigrate in a year, like the ones on my friends VW- just make your plastics look not so obviously plastic.  I'd like a decent ride, decent handling, and decent gas mileage.  Unlike most European cars, I'd not like to find that this is accomplished by having $200 tune-ups and $500 dollar tires.

    Immediately cancel focus groups. Focus groups come up with the remake of "The Stepford Wives"  Focus groups came  up with the last Impala.  Even the worst of the Bangle'd BMW's were more interesting than the last Impala.

    In short, Hire me.

    [post="3474"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

    the funny thing is that the automotive press were the ones who endlessly harped the greatness of Accords and Camrys and made them out to the be ultimate driving solution not less than 10 years ago. The press just goes in cycles, looking for the next flavor of the month to write about. Its like the fashion industry. Hey, are jeans that don't even come half way up a girls' hip in fahsion right now? Sure, but what will be in fashion in 3 years?
  13. Trallala

    Just wanted to add my own tow cents to this fwd vs rwd discussion.
    First of all, I live in Iceland so I have a *bit* of first hand experience when it comes to driving in snowy and icy conditions, and it never ceases to amaze me how people can go on and on about how infinitely superior fwd cars are to rwd ones when it comes to winter driving.

    The simple fact is of course: if icy roads aren't covered with either sand or salt, BOTH rwd and fwd cars are complete and utter crap!  :blink:  Oh yes.
    But add nailed winter tires to the equation (as any sane driver living in snowy regions should), and both types become very driveable and then some (I'm referring to modern cars of course, my 25yo Oldsmobile 98 is pretty much unuseable in winter either way).

    When it comes to winter driving, fwd has the edge - there's no disputing that - but since both types are close to useless when ill-equipped but drive fine when properly equipped it's almost a mute point... more nitpicking than anything else.

    I have nothing against fwd, prefer rwd just for the plain fun of powersliding, not for any sensible reason  :rolleyes: but let this winter driving argument go already, it's been old for quite a while.

    [post="4014"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

    Well, most folks in the USA don't want the hassle of seasonal tire changes, which is why all season tires are so popular. And so, folks here just want to drive what they own, without changing their tires. Myself, I would love to have winter tire packages for all my vehicles, but my budget doesn't allow it.

    FWD with all seasons is popular because its easy and versatile.
  14. why waste time examining it. the car is ASS FRICKING UGLY. not only is chrysler the new cheap plastic king, they apparently are the king of ugly cars now too. I can refrain from convulsions having an Aztek in my garage every day but I see this new Sebring and.........
  15. I just realized i hadn't posted anything yet. Sorry about that and sorry I can't do that tonight. NEED SLEEP BAD. Been staying up too late on C/G and GMI etc. The one year AZTEK ANALVERSARY is the 28th.
  16. here's my guess. You can even expand your list to ten topics if you like. -WHY IS THERE NO CAMARO -WHY FWD SUCKS -MONTHLY SALES POSTS -TOYOTA SUCKS FORUM -HOW GM IS BETTER THAN FORD (bonus) -LUTZ, KEEP HIS ASS OR KICK HIS ASS OUT not presenting these in a mean spirited way, I'm just trying to list what most recurring topics have been, seemingly. I would love your take. This is for fun. Good night, gotta get sleep tonight. Can't wait to see all of your lists in the morning.
