  1. internet stories can be depressing... like a guy mating a 67 firebird to a 2014 prius frame and power train...(granted the bird had a long way to go to be made new in the floor area...)

but then you see stuff that makes you happy. like a guy that bought a restored power wagon and decided it was just too nice to use for a snow plow and has thus sent it off to greener pastures where it will hopefully be cruised and used for fun instead

I disagree, I think the Prius thing is very interesting.Certainly its unorthodox but that's part of the allure. Anyone can shove a big crate motor into an old car. It's been done millions of times. When people think outside the box, now that's cool. Of course it could end up looking terrible especially when you consider how he plans to handle the wheelbase differences, but it could end up being quite something.

That Power Wagon is cool too. Can't remember the last time I saw that body style with an extended cab.

  2. Can't wait for Spring. So many plans. But for now here's a few things I have done.

First up, my last project before winter. These are OEM floor mats that came out of the `01. hey were filthy (the photos are after cleaning) and faded but in good shape. So I cleaned them up and used VHT carpet dye. Really pleased with the results as they look so much better and they've held up well over the last 4 months. Used the dye to touch up some areas on the carpet too.

For Christmas I received custom fabricated HVAC knobs. I've been wanting these for a long time as the chrome ringed knobs look more modern and compliment the chrome rings gauges, switches, and shifter. They're made using GMC Acadia knobs and framing them around trimmed Intrepid knobs.

My next little mod requires a Chevy Sonic. Specifically the volume knob from this radio:

Because it just so happens it fits Chrysler stereos.

Just need to acquire one for myself. (that was a test fit).

  3. When you have whole articles dedicated to people's worst dealerships experiences...

And entire studies showing the "only 17 out of 4002 people prefer the current car buying process"...

    That's THE DEALERSHIP EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. I scrapping the rust off in front of the chute, what was going to be a touch up in that area ended up with me repainting most of the bucket as well was the belt guard.

Turns out Chevrolet Orange Red is a near perfect match to the original paint. As a point of comparison, the orange part of the chute wasn't repainted just cleaned up. It's really close, I'm certainly happy with it.

Besides new skids, she's ready to tackle snow once more. Curious to see how well it performs.

  5. We got our parts!  Monday, by Fed-Ex.  One batch was dropped off on the morning run, the second on the afternoon run.  Car was in paint at that point.  Got it out of paint yesterday and started installing things.  Technician came into my office with an issue.

The chrome reveal molding we needed that surrounds the door and quarter glass is a USED PART.  Screw marks, water spots and a dent at the rear, where it is attached with two-sided tape around the quarter glass.

We were sent a WARRANTY RETURN PART and WERE CHARGED $648.00 FOR IT.

I called the dealership and spoke to the parts rep who sold me the parts.  He apologized, saying he got it from another Tesla dealership.... BUT THAT HE HAD ANOTHER ONE IN STOCK AND HE WILL SEND IT TO ME BY FED-EX.  He told me to throw away the damaged one, he doesn't want it back.  I "should" have the new part my company paid for with credit card "today or tomorrow".

My question to you is... if he had a new one in stock... why did he source the one he sold me from another dealership?  Why is there a dishonest Tesla dealership SELLING REJECTED WARRANTY PARTS THAT HAVE BEEN ON CARS?  WHY DID HE NOT CHECK IT BEFORE HE PASSED IT ON TO ME?  STUPID.  RIDICULOUS.  UNBELIEVABLE.

    1. Believe it or not in the parts business this happens occasionally where a used part gets returned as new. Its unfortunate but mistakes happen
    2. He did offer to send you another one right away.
    3. Tesla doesn't have dealerships.
    4. If it had been a conventional dealership they probably would have blamed the defective part on you.
    5. Dishonest? BRO DO YOU EVEN DEALERSHIP BEFORE?
  6. I'm curious to see how it performs. Typically, single stage snowblowers are regulated to cheap, economy grade machines.

    product_6261_500.jpg

This Simplicity is anything but economy, even has chains on the tires.

  7. Probably not near term, the starter housing will be repainted and I'm going to touch up the area in front of the chute, then it'll be set for winter duty. Night restore it someday, but its going to be put to work this winter.
