Saw a steel-bodied Jeep 2-dr wagon, probably the 50s. Parked up to highway advertising business. Pic off Google streetview : '69 Catalina 4-dr hardtop, red, very clean original, in driveway with historic plates.

I said it from the beginning- there shouldn't have been a CT4. It appears to be very competitive, but Cadillac doesn't need it anyway.

Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM

^ LOL that's literally insane! Remember all the flap about the Blazer RS being $49K?? Tesla pushing their vehicle's top speed is really bizarre and detached. I mean- who cares?? -

So, aside from the “off-menu”, stripped model 3 for “$35K”, up until yesterday the 3 was $40 grand to start. Too high above the median family sedan level, IMO. What is the price for the Y? -
^exactly my point. Either call them all the same, or stop trying to force a slant.

It’s not going to ‘get killed’. This is standard industry practice now, widespread sharing. In fact- it’s now embraced, except, of course, at GM or Ford. Audi A6 comes with a VW passat engine. Unfortunately for audi, the passat-base is no where near the level of the Silverado. Not that you’ll ever read any “UH-OH” articles focusing on that at Audi.

Ram could definitely fit thru the street pictured above. And they do drive semi's in NYC. Sure- some people would be uncomfortable doing either.
-
Impossible that Ram was photographed in Italy; “the streets there are way too narrow for a full-size truck”. I’ve read that claim dozens of times- it must be true.

^ A few years after I got my Duramax in '06, a guy at a gas station said to me : 'That's a turbo-diesel, right?' "Yep." 'How many miles you have on it?' Then it was about 75K. 'Good luck; around 120K the turbo will likely explode.' he advised. Now it has 198,500 miles on the same turbo.

Did some work on the parking brake cabling assembly. After carefully cutting the front cable's steel jacket off, the cable is likely too short by about 4 or 6 inches. Probably most of that is that the car this assembly is from has a 8 inch shorter wheelbase. Here's a shot of the rear & intermediate cabling loosely hanging. Routing it to the underbody will take up more linear length. Also held the center sections of the exhaust up underneath, planning the routing. Looks like it'll be fine but will need a few more pieces of pipe to fabricate. Again- this universal X system is likely all for shorter wheelbase cars. You know; cars for girls. ? Finished sound deadening the package shelf tonight :

• 98% of g-wagins don’t go offroad. • Rental cars- might’ve had 2 in 30 years. • s-class incentives are no surprise, and they’ve been higher than that dollar amount in the past. Daimler pulls a dieselgate-esque sleight of hand and splits it’s incentives with the dealer to make it look not so bad. Wonder if they looked at the GT??

10 min project: wanted to add under-dash courtesy lamps [inspired by my P-60 parts car]. Had these 1W LED mini lights I recently ordered, and they fit perfectly in these chrome cabinet washers. Not too bright at 1W, they’ll do some illumination of the entry ports.
-
Worked on some layout plans for the interior. From the factory- the only interior light is 1 dome light. Thinking about adding courtesy lamps on the bottom edge of the dash, pointing downward to light ingress/egress. Also planning on where/how to mount an upgrade- 4-way flashers [not required until '67 federal law]. These additional lights require some hole drilling- so making sure a. I want to pull the trigger, and b. there won't be anything behind there that would interfere with new components. - - - - - DONE : Here's a direct shot with the parking brake warning light lit (by flashlight). The 4-way flasher knob should also flash red in the center when activated (there's a bulb in there, not sure if it blinks).

OK if I just go with "23.0"?

Octane is required to avoid detonation. If you engine is rated for 87, putting 93 in it won't have a discernible difference. Maybe if you went to 110, you'd notice it, but that likely has other chemical differences which may contribute. Putting 93 in an 87-rated car is a waste of money from all I've read. https://www.hemmings.com/stories/2014/04/11/tech-101-octane-the-facts-and-the-fiction-behind-those-higher-priced-fuels Injector cleaner has an actual benefit, tho I still question if it does all that much. I've had a subtle stumble in my truck and put injector cleaner (Lucas) thru every other tank for a long while- to the total tune of 1.5 gal, but it never went away or ran any different/showed a MPG change.

Working on the car 6 days out of 7. • strung up the new parking brake cabling, of course I'll have to modify it. Axle is a Dana 60, commonly found under MoPars, so the backing plates are MoPar. Parking brake assembly (cables) is '71-74 B-Body MoPar [Charger/Satellite/GTX]. Looks like it will work, tho the front cable off the pedal is steel-jacketed and I'm going to have to cut that off and get the cable naked. B-59 uses pulleys to snake the cabling down & back under the car [below is B-59 diagram]. Have to run the exhaust first, but feeling confident. • Stripped 2 front doors off a '60 Bonneville flattop I tore down a few years ago. Needed another vent window regulator and some of the auto-specific screws on the inner doors. In doing so I realized 1. the door latch mechanicsms are the same, and 2. I haven't seen the door latches off my B-59 in years. So cleaned them up in preparation for painting. Was missing one hinge-to-body bolt, so got that here.

Aftermarket convertible conversion on the Tesla Model 3. For $30K, you get this manually-folding top. For another $10K, they'll electrify it. HANDS DOWN, the WORST convertible conversion I have ever seen. I struggle to recall a more pointless / less dignified automotive alteration. Makes the Murano convertible look swanky. All that stupid money and they couldn't even re-engineer the rear door glass to roll all the way down.

Only thing I can come up with is a super clean variant of the '92-96 F-150, like I used to have. A Lightning would be pretty cool- saw an immaculate one online sold a few months ago for $14,250. I like the hell out of this, but the asking price is $42K.
