  1. ^ While the above is usually true, not all growth & change is for the better. Yes- even in the world of automobiles.
  2. ^ That's very true and IMO problematic; who wants to spend $125K and come at people looking like you only spent $30K?? That aside, MB does change their language/update over the years. They've had some nice designs, they've had some turkeys. Right now tho, they're beginning to feel dated. Not vs. themselves as much as vs. the competition.
  3. One only has to look at generational progression of a given Cadillac model to know that the brand's design language is always moving forward. CT6 is step forward from the CTS, Escala is yet another. Unlike, say, BMW, which hasn't changed a body panel die in 20 years.
  4. Against the standby "the internet is forever" I submit; if you've ever searched online and found any forum pages from -say- 2007 or earlier, they look like someone typed them on a typewriter; mere blocks of type with zero formatting. That's IF you can find anything entered prior to 2007. In general, forum pages created prior to 2011 are close to extinct. In actuality, uploaded information has a very tenuous grasp on even short-term longevity.
  5. The one I saw was really solid & clean, but unrestored and had been off the road for a while. They really exploded in value after that. 390 CI, BTW.
  6. I came close to buying one- same combo- black w/ white interior. Biarritz. Didn't have the money that day ($1000). I was a youngster.
  7. You assume any muscle car out driving moderately aggressively is close to stock. The overwhelming majority are not. Accords are welcome to challenge vintage muscle today :
  8. Almost never go to sleep the same day I wake up. 1:03 AM, just finished cutting in the edges in one bathroom. Going to unwind here for 30 mins or so, then hit the pillow. Have estimate @ 9AM tomm to frame out rooms inside a barn. Sounds interesting.
  9. A new power train option on the 1957 Ford B-, C-, and F-series trucks in the 500 to 900 classes was the 'Transmatic', a 6-speed automatic. A plate affixed to each Transmatic read "Ford Transmatic, built by Allison Division of General Motors Corp." '57 Ford C-Series :
  10. Currently here in Jersey, a recent 23-cent gas tax was applied in full. Fuel prices in general are slipping lower tho. Diesel is currently about 10-15 cents cheaper @ 1.97, but the diesel tax of 27 cents is split & deferred; half will hit in 2017, the other in 2018. - - - - - There were a surprising number of diesel options in the U.S. from American truck companies in lines above light duty, including GM, Ford, Chrysler, and ever Studebaker, beginning in the 1950s. They set the foundation for diesel power in the U.S. market. GM especially had reams of early diesel experience via WWII, Euclid & Electromotive, among other Divisions.
  11. Been watching here, yes. Interesting..., at this point I'm basically done with TWD and prefer this. It hasn't completely pulled me in, some of the characters are distracting IMO (Dolores), other actors I usually find quite enjoyable to watch (Harris, Newton, Hopkins). I'm NOT a big TV viewer at all, tho.
  12. Ooooo! Perogies!!
  13. Got used adjustable fuel pressure regulator from owner of the local old-time speed shop for $5 & installed. Set @ 2 PSI. Tried cranking the engine but battery was sounding sluggish. Plunked a charger on it for a while, cranked it again. It cranks for a while, 10 seconds or more while I fiddle with the throttle/choke, then she started and ran smooth tho rather fast. Regulator seems to be doing it's job; did not puke fuel out vent tube. Cautious throttle might've been stuck somehow, shut it down. Fiddled some more and tried again- started and ran, idled a little slower (but still faster than previously). Ran it for about 30 secs, ran strong & smooth, began hazing the shop with exhaust (window behind and garage door in front were open). Radiator is still out, cylinder heads were slightly warm, maybe 80 degrees when the air temp was about 65- so that was long enough of an interval with no coolant. Pretty happy here, tho of course there is still fine tuning to do. Put radiator & lower hoses on and was about 2 minutes from re-filling the radiator when I realized I was still on 'August think' : it's going to be in the upper 20s a few days next week (at night) : I have no anti-freeze on hand. Re-fill halted. Hope to get another afternoon in next week - almost there...
  14. He not only did claim such, he claimed it again & again & again & again : https://www.youtube.com/embed/66bgpRRSDD4
  15. No doubt he can "accept full responsibility" then go over & head the CIA or something.
  16. Or; you avoid the stigma & expected views associated with either the major 2.
  17. 2016 military (proposed) budget was 16% of total : $634B. 2016 healthcare budget was 27% or $1,106B. Plus, some portion of SS disability and medicare come under the SS, unemployment & labor portion of the budget, which is the largest portion at 33%, or $1,369B.
  18. Bush 43's 1st term: got less than 50% of the vote by 543K votes. That was the 4th time in history that occurred. Obama's 2nd term he got 51.06% of the popular vote by just under 5 million votes.
  19. It's been some years since I participated in H.E.L.P. (the Highway Leafification Program). I used to own a long bed pick-up, and man what a load of leaves it could pack in. Now it's merely a 'standard' 6.5-ft bed, and I don't devote the time to the program like I used to, but it was vastly satisfying to take a barren stretch of local highway and scatter nature's multi-colored glitter over the asphalt once one reached 40 MPH. 'No officer- it wasn't intentional, I just park under a solid canopy of very leafy trees. Do you want me to go back & pick them up? Would you mind stopping 3 lanes of morning commute traffic so I can quickly grab 'em?'
  20. Newsflash, resident Rosey Glasses! S-class is DOWN 12% YTD. It's not about how many they sell vs. competitors, it's completely about pleasing the German overlord accountants. Watch the actual transaction prices too, if the slide continues; deals may be had like @ the end of the prior generation when they'd slash an average of $13 grand off sticker. The current generation wasn't differentiated nor bold enough and the specific concept has grown stale. My one customer hasn't bothered to trade her 2010 s-class in yet. BTW, I was thoroughly disappointed the hype didn't match the interior of that car- there was some obvious cheapness in the interior.
  21. Well, dropping s-class sales and the at-times insane incentives off the sticker no doubt will drive daimler to instill lower price points to try & bolster sales.
  22. Some people call engines 'motors' if that makes you feel better.
