That doesn't make sense. Why would GM shoot themselves in the foot by reporting low numbers?
-
So, did anyone see the mileage specs of the Yukon on the website? Or do we just not want to comment on them. How in the hell do they figure 21mpg combined? I see 21 mpg on the highway and I 15 in the city. You add them together, divide by 2, and you get an average or combined mileage. Am I wrong in thinking that that is how you get a combined mpg? Oh, wait a minute. I think I've figured it out. GM figure combined mileage by saying 99% is highway and 1% is city. That's how they get the 20.5 and 20.1!! Silly me!

Weight first and aerodynamics second. Plastic and styrofoam weigh less.
-
When the lastest gen F150 was introduced, it had a tow rating of 9500 lbs. Then the Titan was introduced with a 9500 lbs tow rating. So, Ford changed their's soon after to 9900 lbs making it best in class. Aerodynamics have little effect on city mileage. The only way I see 21 combined mileage is if they can get something like 16 in the city and 26 on the highway. That would be a 6 miles per gallon gain on the highway. *EDIT* Where did you get the 20/27 mpg number?
-
I hope so too, but I have a feeling that it won't be as good as they say. I haven't seen what they have done to improve city mileage that much. I can see the highway mileage being in the low 20s though, 22 or 23. I just hope that I am wrong and they do get 20mpg combined.

GM's view of its Vue:More bang for the hybrid buck
Derek77 replied to Northstar's topic in General Motors
Not sure. 145hp/4cylinders= 36hp x 2 cylinders= 72 hp. 72 hp should be enough to keep a Cobalt in motion on the interstate. Not sure what the cost would be for GM or the savings to the consumer. -
Call me crazy, but ever since I was little, I liked the smell of diesel fumes. I don't know why, just do. And now with better technology, we are losing that smell. I don't care for the smell of your exhaust, but the smell of your tire smoke, that's like potpourri to me. :P

And gas engines spew potpourri.

I thought the Duramax has 650 lb/ft of torque? Which is more 610 or 650?
-
1) Take a trip to Europe. 2) Rent a diesel car or mini van. 3) See what America would be like if diesels were more popular. Diesels are not nearly as bad as you make them out to be.

Indicted must mean guilty to you. If he is guilty, he should serve his time. If not, questions need to be asked about this DA in Texas. What policies are in place by this administration that makes American jobs more at risk than any other time?

Is that suppose to be a joke or something? RIP John. :(

I too can't wait to see some EPA proof to the MPG. Regarding the 4-speed with overdrive, it is just that, a 4-speed. Overdirve is 4th gear. On almost all transmissions, they have a lock-up converter, which makes it seem like there is an extra gear.

DETROIT – General Motors’ Buick division announced manufacturer’s suggest retail prices (MSRPs) today for the all-new 2006 Lucerne entry luxury sedan with base MSRPs ranging from $26,990 to $35,990. Lucerne pricing reflects GM’s Total Value Promise, targets comparably-equipped import competitors, and should have a positive impact on comparison shopping, particularly on the Internet. "Lucerne is Buick’s most premium and elegant model,” said Buick General Manager Steve Shannon. “While not a replacement, Lucerne is contented and packaged to cover a price encompassing both LeSabre and Park Avenue while squarely taking on competitors.” With premium content, a compelling safety story – including six standard air bags, dual-stage driver air bag, segment-first dual depth front passenger air bag – and a strong value story, Lucerne is a strong proof point for Buick’s Total Value Promise. Standard on every Lucerne are Onstar, QuietTuning – Buick’s exclusive process to eliminate unwanted cabin noise – and a four-year/50,000 mile warranty. “In addition to a great line-up of standard features, Lucerne’s exterior styling, spacious interior and nimble ride and handling position Lucerne to win over competitive owners and Buick loyalists alike,” added Shannon. Lucerne will be available in four models: CX, CXL V6, CXL V8, and CXS. Each MSRP listed includes a $725 destination charge. Buick Lucerne CX – $26,990 The most aggressively-priced model in the lineup, Lucerne CX is powered by GM’s 3800 Series III V-6. Lucerne ’s starting MSRP is $460 below the current LeSabre and comes with significantly more content – including an enhanced warranty, traction control and additional airbags. When adjusted for equipment, Lucerne CX is priced more than $2,200 below a comparable 2005 LeSabre. For consumers who pre-shop on the Internet, Lucerne will stand out. For instance, Lucerne ’s starting MSRP is $5,960 below the 2006 Lexus ES. Buick Lucerne CXL V6 –$28,990 With 17” premium painted aluminum wheels, the CXL V6 offers leather seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and power passenger seat. Buick Lucerne CXL V8 – $30,990 Lucerne CXL V8 shows an unparalled value among V8 luxury cars. With an MSRP of $30,990, the Lucerne CXL V8 offers a 275 horsepower Northstar V8 that can go head to head against high end imports like the Lexus GS and Infiniti M, both with MSRPs which start above $45,000. StabiliTrak, GM’s electronic stability enhancement system that helps maintain vehicle control during certain low-traction driving conditions like ice, snow, gravel, wet pavement and uneven road surfaces, is available on CXL V8 models. Buick Lucerne CXS – $35,990 The performance-oriented Lucerne CXS comes standard with the Northstar V8 and features 18” wheels. Lucerne CXS is the first Buick to offer Magnetic Ride Control, paired with StabiliTrak, to enhance overall ride performance. This system uses magnetically charged particles suspended in a synthetic fluid to continuously adjust the fluid’s viscosity to varying road surfaces and driving characteristics. The system has quicker response than conventional valve-damping systems, while providing exceptional vehicle control and increased tire contact with the road surface. Full complement of comfort and convenience features Lucerne has a complete range of comfort and convenience features available befitting Buick’s premium image, such as heated/cooled front seats; factory-installed remote start; Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist; rain-sensing windshield wiper system; the first heated windshield washer fluid application in its class; a nine-speaker, 280-watt Harman Kardon audio system; six-disc in-dash CD changer with MP3 capability; and DVD map navigation. More information is available at media.gm.com. Production of Lucerne starts in fourth quarter 2005 at the Detroit-Hamtramack manufacturing facility. That plant placed third in North/South America in the 2005 J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study. Following the Buick LaCrosse midsize sedan and Terraza crossover sport van, Lucerne is the third new vehicle in Buick's refreshed portfolio in just over 12 months.

Have you even been in an F-150? Can you honestly say the plastic in their interior is soft and of high quality? I for one cannot see hard plastic, but I can feel it. The front seats have to be the most unconfortable seat I've ever sat on. I don't understand this "smooth flow in the design" and "all the peices seem to "fit" together in harmony with another". To me, the other dashboard layout seem so cluddered to me with million buttons to control the hvac and the navigation system. The others also have the boxy, truck like dash you would expect to see, but GM has put a more car simple, car like dash.

People are still buying SUVs even with higher gas prices. I think that the GMT-900s will take shares of the market from other automakers.

I was wondering the same thing about the Trailblazer. I talked to my wife about how this Tahoe makes the Trailblazer look very lacking. You can get more powerful engines, more fuel mileage, more room in the Tahoe. The only reason I would look at the Trailblazer is to bottom line price. I still want to see some real mileage reading. I have a hard time believing the 20 mpg combined, all without the 6L80.

It can't have everything for everyone. I would have liked to have seen a baby Duramax in this along with all of GMs other trucks, but that ain't going to happen. EDIT: Damn, I write like a moron! All the missing words have been added.
-
I know the press reports and the news releases say 20 mpg unadjusted combined, whatever unadjusted means, but I'm really having a hard time believing that they will get that in combined mileage. The 4.8 gets 21 combined and it doesn't even have DoD. I can't wait to see the real specs. Make me a believer GM.

2007 TAHOE SPECS 2006 TAHOE SPECS

They increased power along with increasing the weight. 400 to 500 lb increase to be exact. It will be like the F-150 power increase/ weight increase in 2004. The extra weight cancels out the increase in power. Hopefully it will be different with the GM products.
