  1. It does share some design themes with the SS, but it's better. A more realized design despite the fact that the SS exists in the steel and the Avant does not.
  2. Like I said, dubious at best. In the absence of artificial factors such as government regs or race rules, there is no advantage in the real world. In the case of GM doing this, it would be nothing more than an example of "See, we can build one too". What the hell is the use in that?
  3. In that case, GM lost a valuable asset. Too bad.
  4. DOHC is of dubious value at best. Bending to the will of the buyers that insist on it (all three of them), just doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
  5. I have serious reservations about the idea.
  6. I'd like to know who rendered the image I posted - that's a designer to watch.
  7. Not necessarily. Holden tends to use local suppliers where it can. North America is too far away for that sort of thing to be efficient.
  8. I'd need to see the torque curve...
  9. And it all but deletes the wow factor.
  10. Take a look at the windsheild and A-pillars as well as the sharp creases all over the overhead view and it becomes clear that the two are different. The side view is a smoothed and more pedestrian version of the theme, and its not a plus for the design.
  11. The side shot looks like a dumbing-down of the other image - clearly not just a different angle on the same design.
  12. In that case, I'd call this a good choice. Just check the frame very carefully.
  13. Absolutely agree on that - far, far, better. "Avant" was the name given to the project that produced 6 different designs exploring the idea of a premium small car for Buick. The rest were throwaways in my book, this one is a keeper.
  14. Noted for future searching on my part.
  15. Lots of possibilities. Unfortunately, no other images seem to exist of the design that I posted. Yup, it's time for the boys at Buick to get off their collective ass and built something beautiful like this.
  16. I like that plan.
  17. Sorry 'bout that, Drew. You could always trade-up.
  18. I'm not a Buick guy, but I still think it is the most beautiful design from GM in quite a long time. I'd hate to see it go to waste.
  19. It is the Buick Avant... or it should be.

  22. Keep working on it, it has potential. I have an idea for DF too, if he's interested.
  23. Not a raging bargain, but a nice project nonetheless.
  24. That looked like a really hard hit. If this car has torsion bar front suspension, I'd say that the torsion bars were ripped from their mounts allowing the wheels to move up into the fenderwells. I think the limo had some serious damage underneath.
