  1. Shooting for the middle every time just guarantees low-margin and heavy competition. Salvation lies elsewhere. The over-duplication of the sedan across both brands and companies leads to market over-saturation and an artificially high level of competition for the same buyer. Throwing all of your chips into that basket exclusively is foolish. Yes, I do think I have a better answer - but I'll keep it to myself for now.
  2. So. Is anyone ready to make a final prediction? By now you should know what drives a purchase for me, so how much of a prophet are you? Place your bets.
  3. The tyranny of the masses, and the death of individuality. Choices are good - we need more of them. And GM was positioned better than anyone to offer them - but theyv'e squandered that advantage, and now it has vaporized. In their slavish devotion to the dream of volume, they have killed creativity in their products. They have become terminal followers instead of the groundbreakers they should be. Grovelling at the altar of the least common denominator will be their undoing.
  4. Probably Fords or Toyotas in a few years. I see no recovery for Pontiac, nor GM itself if they don't temper their current approach. GM is still trying to be Toyota - that strategy will continue to fail as it always has in the past.
  5. Circling the drain...
  6. At this point I'd say that I will be looking more closely at the Challenger and the 2-door Audis. Beyond that, who knows?
  7. There's a black R8 around here that keeps looking at me in a dangerous way.
  8. So, only fat old people buy cars?
  9. Everybody has an agenda. I have noticed Audi coupes quite often in the last few months, in fact I posted a quite favorable reaction. :AH-HA_wink: Who knows what the future will bring. But it won't be bringing a stinking sedan!
  10. Pretty slim pickings.
  11. Really not big on Jeeps, DF. On the upside, I spent way too much time on ebay today and I don't think I'll get bored with used stuff anytime soon. I expect that I'll play with a bunch of used stuff before I give in to new car lust again.
  12. Well, at this point, I don't actually know what I want. With one news item, I went from absolute certainty to not really having a clue what my next new vehicle would be.
  13. Interesting that you bring up the wrangler, I've begun to hunt for that clean, 2-door Tahoe/Yukon I've always wanted again. Yet another in the long litany of cool vehicles we've lost.
  14. Only if you want to kill the possibility.
  15. Wouldn't that be a nasty bit of irony? You can rest-assured that they'll only offer it with four freaking doors too!
  16. I like that car a bit more with every pic.
  17. It probably ticks me off more than any other aspect of the current automotive industry. I HATE 4-doors! Why must every damn car have four freakin doors? I would choose any other bodystyle over the bland sedan, it is absolutely lame that so many cars are only offered in that oh-so-boring form. Over the past few decades, we have lost so many opportunities to have had interesting versions of cars that restricted to sedan-only form. Imagine what a b-body Impala SS coupe and convertible would have been like. Or more recently, a G8 Coupe ( or wagon , or convertible, or the ST) could have given me an option other than the nuclear one I've chosen. But no, all we get is three versions of a *&$$$##$@ SEDAN! Screw the masses, and the one-size-fits-all laziness of the manufacturers. Give me something interesting for a change. Rant over - thanks for listening.
  18. No more rule-breaking! No GM stuff this time around. Mustang meets the minimum requirements - but I'm not feeling it.
  19. ...like many of the GM cars at the B-J Auction, is being sold with a "scrap" title and "cannot be driven on any public road". I so love that car!
  20. As an aside, I find it interesting that the GM cars at the B-J Auction are heavily Pontiac. Curiously, the 1980 Grand Am pickup (El Camino) was pulled from the sale at the last minute. Odd goings on.
  21. This one-ups the Volt concept - nicely done. I hope any production version doesn't suffer the same dumbing-down of the styling in the name of aerodynamics.
  22. I think you know that Asian cars need not apply.
  23. If they don't crush them all, and I can manage the cost, I'd do just that.
  24. Yeah, great.
  25. I still don't think this class of car has much of a future in this country.
