  1. At this point I simply have no idea what's next for me. Whatever it is will be small compensation for what should have been.
  2. What an absolute loser! In a way I'm glad that he never got his hands on an ST.
  3. I agree. However, I don't believe that these factors affect the G8 in anything like the way they affect the G6, for example. You can look to the gas price scare and the economic malaise for the G8's difficulties. The V6 is poorly positioned though, thanks to underwhelming fuel economy and the small price difference with the GT.
  4. Here we have an architecture capable of: -multiple sizes -multiple drivetrains, including AWD - Coupe, sedan, wagon, Ute, crossover, and convertible bodystyles. -engineered for global markets (every inhabited continent) All tossed to the wind.
  5. And that is only one Zeta variant being sold at a low-volume brand... Such potential wasted!
  6. I think outside factors are playing a major role here, wouldn't you agree? The V6 is of marginal value compared to a GT or GXP: it's price is too close to the GT to make it a good buy. And you've proven the point that conditioning (done by GM itself) has led to buyer reluctance.
  7. Again, GM's lame decision-making at work. Even if Zeta is doomed by CAFE (I don't buy it), they should have expedited production on that architecture to get a decent return on the investment in it. 3-5 years of being a real player in a market they have ignored for years could have had major benefit even if future regulations made it impossible to continue beyond that time frame. Instead, they just tossed that investment away. Stupid.
  8. It's conditioning, pure and simple. And the G3 and G6 don't have any bearing on GXP pricing. Apples and oranges.
  9. I have one of those- it just takes a bit of talent and experience. Actually the diesel started fine - just insanely loudly. The Duramax is actually the easiest diesel to start in the cold of any I've ever dealt with, and I have never needed to plug it in.
  10. Precisely, Drew.
  11. Try starting a diesel in this freakin cold!
  12. That about sums it up, YJ.
  13. I think you are wrong about this car, the real "diehards" already have a deal for one. The ones that show-up on ebay are from dealers looking for an extra, fast, buck. The GXPs will all be spoken for soon enough, the v6 cars are another story entirely.
  14. A Kappa rolling chassis. (naked Solstice)
  15. Diehard: singular. The expectation of rebates is a monster GM itself created, and then perpetuated, by more flip-flop policies on pricing. It's just another example of lame decision-making and lack of intestinal fortitude in upper management. They can't simply make a plan and stick to it. They are eternally annoucing a product or policy and then abandoning it. It kills their credibility.
  16. What should have happened was that Pontiac got the entire G8 family from the start. With the Camaro by itself at Chevy. Unless they had been ready when they should have been: about ten years ago.
  17. You do realize that this is killing me, right? First of all, they already build it with a Chevy nose for the Middle East. Second, It would sell better as a Chevy to be sure - but Holden can only build a few a year anyway. I understand why it was to be a Pontiac. When GM still gave a crap about Pontiac it made sense. Now, it's just too late.
  18. Yeah, I guess I didn't need to post that. This really ripped my guts out after being sooooo close.
  19. Charlie: Just for clarification, the way you (and Scott for that matter) feel about Camaro is how I feel about the El Camino and the ST. Should have just said that first.
  20. I used to say the same, now I know better. You should check out the community boards at ebay, I had no idea how bad things had gotten.
  21. I have been waiting for over 20 years for the ST (thought it would wear a 'Camino badge though). So yeah, you could say my heart was set on it. I won't buy a G8 because I hate sedans. I won't buy a Camaro because of the way they handled the ST, and because settling for the runner-up isn't my way. That's not to say I won't buy a used one along the way, but the passion i had for the ST just isn't there for Camaro. The Camaro has legions of fans and I like smaller crowds.
  22. I'm all for Alpha especially for the next Camaro and for Pontiac, but I really love Zeta more. For me, Zeta is exactly the size of car I want. Of course all of you know all about that from The Chevelle Project. Dead dreams suck.
  23. The buyer wasn't the problem here, actually. The ebay policies are. The payment was made soon after the auction ended (on the 12th). I still don't have my money.
  24. Except that this dealer is trying for a premium over sticker. And, paying sticker price, even when there is no cash on the hood is just stupid. That goes for any car (Saturn excepted)
