  1. America needs a new deal. The Friedman Dogma is driving America back in time. While America is heading towards 16th century europe. China has Turned its entire economy into a giant TVA. China will be to the 21st century what America was to the Twentieth. It's unfortunate but America has become a cult to Friedman economics. And it's killing us.

  2. I read somewhere that Chysler would build the FWD version. That should make it into both Gm and Chrysler FWD cars.

The Continental Teves system used in the Pickups is for larger engines as well. Like BAS it's a Start stop system.

  3. I would guesse it's the Dohc Turbo diesel V8. I saw talk on another board 4.5 liter V8- 3.4 liter V6 on the way. Consider that as "Rumor". If the Displacements are right? Maybe a familial (sp?) relationship to the GME 2.2 DTi . (Since discontinued?)

As far as Tonawanda goes I doubt they get it. Erie County has a control board. I don't know if anyone will be getting tax breaks.

On another point If GM will be Building Diesels at other plants. Is there something to the Isuzu/Toyota wanting the Duramax plant rumor?

General Motors employs 1,900 people at the engine plant on River Road.

General Motors' engine plant in the Town of Tonawanda is competing for a $21 million investment by the automaker, a spokeswoman confirmed - without saying exactly what the potential expansion would be.

There's speculation that it could be a diesel engine line.

  5. If GM can Build 500k of Vehicles, with the number of employees that it currently takes to build 250k then TRU-Flex is an even greater developement then thought.

Have they recinded the announced job cuts?

    AUTO INDUSTRY REPORTER

The Camaro muscle car will roar out of Canada again, General Motors Corp. is set to announce on Monday.

The world's largest auto maker has chosen an assembly plant in Oshawa, Ont., as the site for the rebirth of one of the classic cars of the 1960s and 1970s, sources familiar with the announcement said yesterday.

The move is one of two major boosts for the auto maker's Oshawa operations. The other is that a plan to eliminate about 1,000 jobs at one of the company's car plants in that city is being reversed because of strong sales of the Chevrolet Impala mid-sized car, the sources said.

  6. I think the next LaCrosse is a 2010 model year with sales starting in early 2009. I don't know where it's being built, but when the W- ends production there will probably be about 6 months before for the new one appears, which gives dealers time to sell old units.

Also, Oshawa will have a capacity of 500+k units when it's re-done and made into one giant plant.

  7. Oshawa's capacity is being slashed.

Oshawa 2 will close. -250k Vehicles

    Oshawa 1 will lose a shift - 75 to 100K

Oshawa will be able to build 250k a year. Even with Tru Flex don't go counting your models before they've hatched.

(and thats with tru-flex productivity unknown. It Could be more, likely it's less)

  8. Hmm I thought the concept was to consolidate P-B-GMC into a Single lineup across a range similar to Chevy.

In That Context The Line up would Be?

    GMT-900 - GMC

    GMT-355-GMC

    Lambda- GMC-Buick

    Zeta /LWB-Buick

    Eps2-Buick

    Eps1-Pontiac

    Theta-Pontiac

    delta-Pontiac

A Basic Future P-B-GMC Dealer lineup?

Would the Lambda and Epsilon Overlaps Eventually be Phased out?

  9. GM, which has helped support Toledo 's economy since 1916.

I Honestly Don't Believe GM has any plan or intention to remain a part of any Community in the U.S.

How the Communities react time will tell.

  10. I like it!! The Wagon reminds me of the Opel Bertone Slalom Concept. The Hatch is Sweet to.

And Here, Here, to the Twin Clutch Auto Manual.Hopefully The Tranny will be Built in Volume in the U.S. and Make it's way to All the Epsilon,Theta's,and Lambda's.

Thow in that Continental Teves Hybrid System and things really look good For The FWD platforms..

  11. The Question that no one is considering, in the long term discussion. Without a Radical improvement in Fuel Economy. Or A Radical reduction in fuel costs. Four years from now, will there even be a fullsize market worth talking about?
