    That's just annoying.

We've moved a handful of times at my current job and we have a moving team(the building is slowly being remodeled floor by floor) but I've never been told not to take things myself.

Where I was was at a Big Fortune 500 corporation that probably had their facilities maintenance and moving outsourced to a unionized shop.  Odd because it was in Colorado which never struck me as a particular union-ey place.

The next two places I worked after that were tiny---one a startup company and one a consulting firm, under 10 people each, and we moved offices a couple of times at each place and I helped w/ the moves, once hauled a load of servers, computers and monitors in my Jeep a couple miles between offices..

That reminds me of a time a buddy of mine just started a new job and he needed to get his job done but before he needed something else finished by "somebody else", who wasn't there. He said "screw it" because he was perfectly capable of doing whatever it was so he could get to his own job.

He got written up for it.

    Fck. modern Unions.

I remember a long time ago (over 20 years ago), I was working in an corporate IT cube farm, and my team got recubed--my whole department moved across the floor to a different collection of 20 or so cubicles.  I could box up my personal content in my cube, but couldn't move it, my chair or my computer--those had to be moved by union mover resource units.   Struck me as odd.

  3. Day off so out running errands this afternoon.  Sunny and 46.  Saw an eclectic mix...dark red 87-90 Caprice sedan in good shape that I’ve seen before.  Saw a clean white w tan top 77 Caddy Sedan de Ville w a custom chrome grille.  Saw a derelict ‘61 Ford Falcon 4dr in traffic, a tri-color of gray primer, matte black and rust.   Saw a pale green early 90s XJ Cherokee with Forest Ranger lettering and door shields.   Wasn’t sure if it was county, state or federal..but is something that old still in official use?   And went by the City of Parma office building and sure enough they still have their early ‘00s Bonnevilles...

  4. Of the modern era French cars, I like the Renault Avantime and Vel Satis for their weirdness, along the with the Citroen XM and C6.  The Peugeot 607 was a good looking, albeit conventional large sedan.  Reminded me of the Chrysler LH sedans of the 90s-00s.   The 407 coupe was good looking.

For current French cars, I like the revived Alpine model,  and some of the current models from DS

    Hands down, correct

    Southern IL has zero scenery.

Yeah, I remember when crossing the void a few years ago the drive on I-70 from St Louis to Columbus being pretty dull.... almost as dull as I-40 from Albuquerque to OK City through the Texas panhandle...

  6. Polk has good stuff...some years ago a buddy of mine in Colorado was really into Dunlavy speakers..they sounded really, really good.

My sister has a set of 70s vintage Magneplanar speakers w/ a vintage McIntosh receiver she had in her house in AZ, had a great warm sound w/ vinyl records, etc.   All that gear is in storage for now, probably going to set it up in the eventual beach house.

I have been comparing the new Q9 Samsung TVs to the LG OLED Postcard TV and I have to say both are awesome looking, but I really do like the thin postcard LG TV. Gonna be hard to choose as I suspect by the time my TV dies, they will all be 8K TVs. :P

Might be scary to see such fine details on the actors / actresses! :yikes::scared:

Eventually I'll get an 8k...for now, 4k HDR QLED is fine.     Next house.

I also have a Yamaha Receiver from Costco. Just saw that Costco is closing out what was Yamahas $2,500 7 channel surround receiver for 4K TV at $499.98. I see the professional Magnolia HiFi rooms at Best Buy have the newest Yamaha 8K 7.5 Channel surround sound receivers. Gonna go play with it to see the Internet menu as they now come with an interface to compete against Roku. Would love to simplify my setup so I just have one less item to deal with, but right now Roku is just so efficient and fast for moving between streaming services.

I haven't tried Roku, long been a Amazon Fire TV fan, but my latest Samsung HDTV has all the apps I use (Prime, Hulu, Netflix, Youtube, etc) built in...

That is weird as I have had nothing but positive experiences with Samsung phones, TV's, Blue ray players, Speakers. The only thing in my home theater setup that is not Samsung is the receiver as they do not make a 7 channel surround sound system other than their fake virtual surround that I am not a fan of. I want the real thing.

I was long a Sony and Toshiba fan for home theatre equipment, still have Sony blu ray and CD players...have a Yamaha receiver and Klipsch 5.1 surround sound currently.. (came with the house, still works pretty well).

Not when the models start near 30k.

And they need an affordable Jeep itself to rope both the younger folks and people ready to give it a try ....

It’s how you get loyalist.....start them with bare bones but fun model....and watch the fall in love with them... ?

The Compass and Renegade are well under 30k.   Jeep got me hooked when I was 29... my first new SUV was my '00 Grand Cherokee Laredo--the entry level GC, right around 30k....20 years later still driving Jeeps.

Montreal is pretty clean  :)   Even Down Town.  And we have a homeless problem the last decade. But no urine stench for the most part.  We do have alley ways in the older parts of that part of the city, so I imagine there would be a problem...

That dont bother me (for my environment).  There are some billionaire sports team owners that give back to the community. The Montreal pro sports teams do plenty of charity work and funding for our community. Schools, hospitals...

Every city has problems w/ the poors..  not sure what the solution to it is.  But I love the culture and energy of large cities..Cleveland has a vibrant downtown, lots of good bars and restaurants, the natural beauty of the lake and beaches, the river, the theatre district (2nd only to NYC in size), the symphony, great museums and universities...I love spending time in the city but love living in the burbs.  And it's way cheaper here than Chicago or other larger cities..

Rural is ok for vacations, but couldn't do it full time..my Dad loved living on the farm, but I find it really, really dull out there.. not to mention it is very high maintenance and the isolation.

That might be the first long-term Galaxy that I've heard a positive review of. Typically, they're great out of the box and garbage 12 months later.

The only thing Samsung I will consider is their TVs. I won't even consider anything else they make.

I think hers is a Galaxy 7...she's never had any issues w/ it.   I like their TVs a lot.. I have a 40 inch Samsung HDTV that came with my house, was mounted over the fireplace..great picture, works fine...it's like 9 years old...moved it to my bedroom when I got a Samsung 65 inch 4K HDR QLED HDTV for the living room this past Christmas.   Still have my Toshiba 55 inch HDTV in another room, it's 8 years old and still works great, but so heavy compared to newer flat screens...
