  1. Sweet stuff...the newest Greenlight Auction Block series release has a sweet red '70 GTO w/ black vinyl top and a custom 2 tone '68 Chevy pickup..ordered them yesterday. There is a blue '71 GTO in the recent Factory 2 Pack series also. I don't have any of the Motor World series yet, but have seen them online.

Here are pics of the Auction Block series from GLCollector.com

  2. Cuticle, sounds like you may have some sort of problem. Seen a doc?

Perhaps it is time to invent that "toilet paper dispenser on a backpack" you've been thinking abote. :scratchchin:

Nah, I'm just lazy about putting the TP back on the holder--it's one w/ a spring and a pain to change out.. :)

  3. we actually discussed this in the past. and i was wrong.

Well, it's one of those important issues that come up from time to time...lately, though, I don't even bother putting TP on a holder...I just keep 1/2 dozen rolls on top of the tank and roll off what I need, and a 24 pack in the closet.

  4. A loaded SHO barely touches a base, stripped out CTS. I'd say it is not priced in CTS territory at all.......

The SHO is $38-43k or so...I'm sure some CTSes are in that price range. I didn't say they are competitors--many cars/trucks/SUVs are in that price range--, but that they are in overlapping price ranges, way above that of the Taurus' GM competition (Impala). The recent Impala SS wasn't in that price range...

  5. The "Super" moniker sounds very old school and should die along with the Lucerne and W-body LaCrosse. I think it only reinforces the geriatric image that Buick should be trying to transcend.

I do like "GNX", but RWD only fans would cry "foul" if it was applied to this car.

"Gran Sport" sounds a little old school also, but "GS" would be acceptable.

GS might work...they used that on the last Regal, so their is a precident for using it on FWD 4dr sedans. GNX should be like GTO, reserved for RWD muscle cars. Super seems very old, old school...like 1950. Not 2010.

  6. Hmmm...got to translate...by 'Over' do you mean from the front--'B' in the diagram---and by 'Under' do you mean from the back--'A' in the diagram?

If so, I prefer from the back ('A'). I think the reason it's done that way is to conserve use (pulling from the back usually results in less pulled off than from the front.)

From the front also makes it too easy for pets to grab some and make a mess...

  7. Some people from grad school had organized some road trips to these places but I had to pass because, IIRC, I was going somewhere else for those days.

When I was in college and grad school, we did road trips every summer to Cedar Point, a short drive from the Cleveland area and from Ann Arbor. I went at least once every summer from '89 through '96. Fun, fun place.

Never been to Kings Island, but went to Kennywood (Pittsburgh area) as a kid a few times.

I went to Six Flags Elitch Gardens a few times during my Denver era, a couple work outings.

  8. I think it's just clothing styles today. Most clothing fits tighter now. I remember back in the late 80s to late 90s when baggy & loose fitting clothing was in. But I was just a kid in the 80s so I don't really have a frame of reference to compare rack sizes vs. today. :)

Ya, at least tighter tops. I remember tight designer jeans and a lot of tight white pants (sort of the capri style) being popular when I was in my teens in the mid to late '80s. And the notorious parachute pants also.

  9. But the real purpose of mentioning the event is.... Great Adventure in the circa 90-degree heat.... is positively a Cornicopia of Breasts. Either there's something in the water these days.... or brassiere technology has improved in lockstep with -say- tire technology since the '80s. Or is it evolution? because it seems to me that teen / 20's-yr old girls these days are sporting notably nicer racks than 20 years ago (then, of course, there's implants, but they tend to be obvious to the experienced eye).

Anyone ponder the -ahem- science behind this important issue ??

    Hmmm..

Maybe it's simply that they dress skimpier than they did back in the Big 80s? I don't recall as much visible boobage/cleavage in the Big Hair Big '80s. Young women (and the not so young) seem to wear those negligee looking tops a lot in warm weather this decade.. or more Victoria's Secret miracle bras...

Speaking of 90-degree heat, I'm looking forward to some of the cool stuff this weekend. It's been 107-109 all week, cooling off from July and early August heights...

  10. They were/are sharp cars..I was behind one in traffic this morning and noticed the taillights, plate surround, and back up lights were different than yours...narrower taillights...must have been an MCE at some point.

  11. Let me ask a question here: Now that the CARS rebate program is officially over Monday at 8, is this a BAD move on GM's part? Does anyone forsee demand staying at this current level after the CARS program dies? Let's face it - the program moved cars...but it moved cars at the cost of an artificially stimulated market. We are now pulling the rug out from under the program that caused the demand...

I am thinking that building and storing a bunch of unsold units is exactly what GM does not need right now, and that these people will be back out of a job soon...sorry. I hope that I am wrong.

I had the same thought....hopefully they won't overproduce. Not just GM w/ this plant, but other makers as well. CARS stimulated sales for many models and cleaned out inventory for them, but it's no guarantee that the demand will stay strong the rest of the year for those models.

  12. His point is it can be done. Is the SHO AWD?

Anyway, I don't care - it's still an anonymous blob with a gerneric European car interior that happens to have some pretty bits tacked on inside and out to make it look cool. This is no Buick, and certainly is no GNX. Again, give the LaCrosse this exact drivetrain and you'll have my attention.

The SHO is AWD. And it will be a Buick, the Insignia is coming as a Regal, correct? This AWD version is over 4000 lbs, I'm sure a LaCrosse version will be even heavier..

  13. Now that could be a real 'Super' for Buick. I'd call it Regal Super or something new, leave the GNX name to 1988..(it's a name from a very specific car and time and place).

Assuming the Insignia becomes the Regal, if they do something like this for the US, give it it's own identity. Something like this would give Buick a nice Taurus SHO competitor.
