  1. We have a cars slack channel at work, it’s fun.  A lot of people into auto cross in the DFW area, taking about racing their Miatas, Supras, GT-Rs…a couple guys with C8s and Shelby GT500s also.

  2. Strange how it works,  but the music from my teenage years ('83-90) still remains a big part of the soundtrack of my life over 3 decades later... some of my favorite music was released then.   Though there is a lot from before and after that I enjoy...

Still remember 'I want my MTV!!!'.

  3. Saw a gorgeous silver blue ‘67 Thunderbird on Saturday, no vinyl top.  Also saw a clean dark red ‘66 Impala ht at my new favorite ice cream/custard shop.

The moving adventure continues.  I took the week off from work, rented a Transit high roof today for the week.  Drives pretty nicely, had to get used to the funky shifter.

Seems Tesla is failing more fans. 2019 introduced the Cybertruck that was supposed to be superior to all trucks as it would be an Exoskeleton truck, superior to Body on frame truck.

Instead pilot truck runs are showing that the Cybertruck will be unibody and nothing more than a Honda Ridgeline Competitor.

The stories have many very disappointed.

Typical Tesla...the hype exceeds the reality... just a novelty.

This does not just affect these three brands as Skoda, SEAT, Lamborghini, Bently and one other company of which I do not recognize the logo have all committed to using the MEB platform and the Cariad Software stack so this had huge ramifications.

The other brand w/ the logo that looks like a strange pair of pliers is Cupra...which was a SEAT performance trim but is now it's own brand sort of...

…not sure how to rotate a picture here… hahaha

They are adorable.  Having had Yorkies now for 15 years, I love the breed.  Compact, high energy, huge personalities...all the terrier traits in a concentrated form...

  7. In this thread below,  I mentioned that we lost our senior Yorkies within 4 weeks of each other--one in early March (Henry, age 17) and one in early April (Ginger, age 14).

March and April were emotionally pretty difficult.   With the move looming, we hadn't planned on getting more dogs (we still have Beardsley--10 yr old Chi-terrier mix and Raine--9 yr old Australian Terrier mix).

But an opportunity presented itself last week, and we now have two new 10 wk old Yorkie puppies--female sisters Lola and Lulu.   Haven't had a puppy in a long time, it's a lot of fun and joy.

  8. They are using a sealer...no texture, not a fan of textured paint (my folks' house had textured paint on 150+ yr old walls, never cared for the appearance).

Moving along slowly..probably going to not finish until sometime next week...taking next week off from work to pack.

Have new distractions also at home..

  9. I love Gordon Lightfoot's music...great lyrics.   My folks were fans, I remember listening to him on 8-track in the late 70s-early 80s on RV road trips w/ my folks...  saw him in concert about 5 years ago, even older still a great performer.

I've listened to his song 'Carefree Highway' while driving on the actual Carefree Highway in Arizona...

I like this track a lot--

Great to hear the painting is starting and that you got service for Internet so working from home is good. 1GB Service from Spectrum I have never heard of them. If you do not mind me asking how much is 1GB service there? Here I have Ziply, formerly Frontier, formerly Verizon Fiber service, so 1GB fiber service is $69.99 a month, plus taxes makes it $89 and change a month.

Will never go back to Comcast aka ComBLASTIC and I love my choices of streaming services. I use Netflix, Vudu and then via my Verizon cell service I get Disney +, Hulu and ESPN. Never use the ESPN service but happy with the rest.

Spectrum used to be called Charter...one of the old Midwest/East Coast cable companies, IIRC.   1GB service from them is $79.99 a month, better than Cox which I'm paying $135 a month now for.

AT&T has fiber in my new zip code, but not on my street yet.   The irony of it all is AT&T is installing fiber on my old street---been digging and installing it in the last couple of weeks.

  11. I'd rather visit New Zealand as far as that part of the world...though the cities of Australia might be interesting to visit and Tasmania.   Having lived in Arizona, I have no interest in traveling to see a desert--can't stand the dry dusty void aesthetic..

    How is the painting going?

Should be starting Monday. They did some prep work today and put materials (ladders, paint, etc) in that house.   I got the modem and router set up Friday and tested (Spectrum 1gb service).   Spectrum had to string a line across the road to a pole and will have to bury the line to the house  ( house previously had AT&T, but they don’t have very fast offerings there)

  13. Rented something Professional Grade to day to start my move…hustled 250 boxes from the old house to the new (from the garage to the garage).  A relatively new GMC with only 50k miles…old school inside with manual locks, column shift, a physical key but with power windows and power mirrors.  I think these have an LS V8, put my foot into it and it moved out pretty well. Though at 65-70 on the freeway it is deafeningly loud with all the squeaks, rattles and crashing over bumps.  Did the the job well.

Top pic is at my old house, bottom pic at the new place.

  14. My sister used Sherwin-Williams on her last 3 houses in AZ, and it's the local company, so comes recommended.   Not sure if I will use it when I paint the current house inside, though.    Easier to get it painted before moving in.

Been doing a lot of work on the current house prior to moving out and selling it...painted the outside last week, some masonry work this week and a new roof this week.   Plan to repaint the inside before it's on the market in a few weeks..

So between closing on the new house and projects on both houses, it's been an expensive couple weeks...fun, fun..

  15. Going with an off-white inside.  Sherwin-Williams Navaho White.  Some of the rooms are too dark now.  My sister’s bedroom is a dark brown, the attic walls purple, my bedroom is dark blue and yellow, what will be my office is dark gray, what will be my hobby room is lt gray.

Well, we’ve definitely hijacked @Robert Hall’s post with way more mower information than he needs.

Robert, have any inside pics yet?

Getting the inside repainted next week..  2nd pic is the finished attic.   5 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, laundry room off the kitchen.  About 3000 sq ft finished.  Going to put a hot tub on the back patio....

Here are pics from the realtor listing..
