  1. The answer to that can vary greatly. In nearly all cases, they are kits given out to the journalists attending a press release event for a specific vehicle. It can be anything from a cheap, plain, branded USB drive with the new model's pictures on it, to large books with pictures and stats on the new model, to even more elaborate things like water tight emergency kits (Jeep), an espresso cup set (Fiat), or fancy desk ornaments (Corvette, NSX). FCA almost always does the biggest and bulkiest ones... large books or heavy metal boxes. The one for the Dart was rather simple.. it was just a USB drive shaped like a dart you'd throw at a board. Honda does the tiniest USB drives I've ever seen. VW does their in the shape of a key. I have an Audi tie clip USB drive. Mercedes hands out CD or business cards with their web address on them (cheap cheap cheap)
  2. I thought the original suggestion that brought the 2.0T up was for a RWD sports truck.
  3. Maybe I missed something, but I thought we were comparing the 2.5 to the 2.0T... not the V6.
  4. Does anyone here have any interest in manufacturer press kits? I have certain ones I will not be parting with (Stingray, NSX) but most others I need to get rid of. If you cover the shipping I would be happy to send them to you. Most come with a catalog type information kit and a USB drive. I have 2015 Challenger/Charger (unopened) - Claimed 2014 Jeep Cherokee (unopened) 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee (opened, complete) 2014 Jeep Kit with books on the lineup and a small safety kit (very heavy metal box, have USB drive but I've used it so it is blank) 2014 Dodge Durango - large book with USB inside. (open, complete) Kia Soul - USB drive only....blank, in the shape of a punk hippity hoppity hampster Ford - USB drive only....Blue Oval flip out USB, blank Ram Promaster - USB drive only blank
  5. I would bet that the 2.0T would come from the ATS rather than the Regal... it's good for a little bit more power in that application. Anyway, anyone who thinks the 2.5 has better low end torque than the 2.0T clearly hasn't driven both. Even the old 2.4 has better low end torque than the 2.5.
  6. Again, you care more about the how than the results. Why is it not embarrassing to Lexus that the 4-cylinder CT6 will be just one tenth of one second slower than the LS460 V8? Why is it not embarrassing to Kia that the 4-cylinder CT6 will be half a second faster than the K900 V8? Why is it not embarrassing to Hyundai that the 4-cylinder CT6 will be more than half a second faster than the Equus? Because you're more worried about the "how" then the results...... Instead of wandering around clutching your pearls saying "why oh why doesn't Cadillac have a V8?"..... you should be asking why all of these V8s are getting spanked by a Cadillac 4-cylinder. Why is Cadillac running a 4-cylinder turbo? Because they can still beat V8s with it. We don't have 0-60 times for the 3.0TT, but I fully expect it to outrun your vaunted S550. And Johan already said that the Cadillac CT6 is getting a twin-turbo V8, it was verified by another Cadillac rep, and the timeline is in the second or third model year of the car. You KNOW this... you even posted in that thread. So will you shut up about the CT6 V8 already?! Even Benz doesn't launch all of its cars with all of the planned engines in place at launch. It will be in the 550hp to 600hp range. And yes, we already know... no matter WHAT V8 Cadillac makes, it will never ever be good enough for you and you'll troll it also.
  7. The CX-3 is going to bring a lot of new attention to the Mazda brand.
  8. They need to fix the holes in their lower brands before they go about trying to restart Alfa.
  9. But it is not you that are calling them models... the brands themselves call them models. Is a BMW 320i a different model from a BMW 328i? Is a BMW 328i xDrive another model? BMW says yes... I say no. Go up even further. Are the 3-series and 4-series two different models? In marketing materials, BMW says yes, when reporting sales numbers BMW says no.
  10. And as promised, I have closed the thread due to fighting and removed all posts, including the good ones, that happened after my line in the sand.
  11. Cadillac trademarked the CTx lineup before Johan got there.... so as much as we want to blame the naming mess on him (and believe me, I'd like to), it wasn't his doing unless he was freelancing at Cadillac on his days off from Infiniti. There is virtually zero of Johan's decisions in the CT6 final product. He didn't get there soon enough to effect any change on the car. As someone (I think Hyper) mentioned, this is mostly Mark's car. SMK: You are always worried about the "how" rather than the results. The Equus is a fat pig. It weighs 900lbs more than the CT6. The 2014 Equus has a 6.4 second 0-60 time.... same as a Buick Regal GS. The Cadillac CTS 2.0T AWD has a 0-60 time of 5.8 second, so the lighter and RWD CT6 will do a few 10ths better than that. So tell me, why is embarrassing for Cadillac to be running the CT6 with a Turbo-4 and it is NOT embarrassing for a Hyundai with a 420hp V8 to be running soooo much slower. Oh I get it.... it's fine for a 420hp car to be lower than a Turbo-4 as long as it has a V8.
  12. That's a very heavy handed and a stark insinuation. Everyone who has posted reservations has posted elsewhere where they like Cadillac. So I don't think you're going to get anywhere with making a comment like that. There are certain people, like SMK, who wouldn't even like Cadillac if it was just an S-Class with the star scraped off and a crest put in its place. They'd would still find something "wrong" with it... some "Most important thing" that makes the Cadillac inferior even if it is the same car. SMK's feet get awfully tired from running around moving the goal posts.
  13. E-class "ain't world class" compared to the S-class, either. But neither the E or the CT6 are going up against the s-class, are they. It seems that the E-class is getting the same interior the S-class has. We shall find out in January. ... and C-Class. Same sausage, different lengths.
  14. The Edge has improved so much that it really does deserve those increase in ATPs. Explorer has improved an equal amount and deserves an equal increase, but it may be harder for people to stomach that much of an increase at those prices.
  15. How many times are people going to re-write the same list of cars??
  16. The CT6 is not a stop gap. It may not be a stop gap, but Johan did say the CT6 is NOT the halo car that Cadillac needs it to be either, something the previous brass said that the CT6 WAS the halo car that the world was waiting for... Bankruptcy had a play in that and Johan being brought in to really make Cadillac top tier aside...the way SMK describes the situation over at Cadillac is eerily accurate. The thing is, none of that is new. We knew that the CT6 was not going to be the top Caddy before any of us here even saw it. Johan said as much before it was revealed. Why is any of this news to anyone here?
  17. There are multiple engine options, and 3.0L is top choice. Not unlike the CT6. It would be foolish otherwise for both brands. Interesting..... so now I'm going to guess. Base - 2.3 EB Mid - 3.5 NA Top - 3.0TT and possibly a hybrid.
  18. The CT6 is not a stop gap.
  19. I think part of the issue is referring to all of those vehicles as "models" They aren't models... they are trims and body styles. The Germans are by far the worst in this with BMW being the most absurd. It was an article I had intended to write last year but work took precedence. I went back and looked at my notes. If you go buy what BMW considers a unique model, they have 98 (!!!) models in their lineup (as of December 2014)... but that's because they consider the 28 variants of the 3/4 series to all be unique models. .... as a matter of fact, maybe I should finish that article.
  20. Any more fighting beyond this point and I'm just going to close the thread and delete everything after this post.
  21. I am highly encouraged to see the public reacting so positively to the new XC90. It is one of the most deserving of attention of new vehicles out there.
  22. Just. Let. It. Go!
  23. Due to the speed with which some of the trolling and abuse is going on, I sometimes forget to check the "Edited By:" button when modifying some posts. Regular users cannot edit their own post without the Edited note showing up. If a user edits their own post, it will say so. An Admin or Mod are the only people who can silently edit a post. That said... I wish you all would just chill out.
