GMC News: Rumorpile: More On GMC's Wrangler Competitor
Drew Dowdell replied to William Maley's topic in GMC Trucks
Maybe on the Canyon platform? The H3 rode on the old canyon. I wonder if they're going more for that. It would only really compete with the 4 door Wrangler. GMC needs a Cherokee competitor.- 17 replies

GMC is not on the press release schedule for Chicago this year. It's going to be a light year for GM at Chicago... only Chevy is on the schedule. It's going to be a light year for everyone. Only 10 vehicle press conferences scheduled.

Welcome! When you take some pics, you can add it to the CheerandGears.com Garage and your car will get it's own special thread automatically.

So as I said, I'm pretty displeased with this skin. Sorry guys, it will probably change again in a week or so.

What does coffee/tea mean to you? Are you the one who cannot work or focus without coffee/tea or not?

Emptied the cache but the "sticky header" still shows up when reading unread posts. If I then refresh the page the sticky header appears then immediately goes away. I meant the server's cache files, but if it is still happening, then it didn't work anyway.

This is as big a "DuH!" question as was the one to build a 4-Door Wrangler or a Wrangler Pickup- 17 replies

Do a Shift-Refresh now and see if it changed. Let me know either way please.

Odd... I've disabled the feature called "sticky header" specifically for that reason. Maybe the cache needs to be updated.

So.. I'm not exactly thrilled with this skin, but the last one had to go as I was getting too many reports of the old one not rendering properly. I may start testing another skin soon. Thoughts?

Depends on where they are being built. The VWs sold in the US that are built in Mexico tend to have terrible reliability and quality issues. Some VWs come from Europe and the seem to do better. The US Passat is built in Tennessee and from my observations has excellent build quality and reliability. Some of the materials seems a little on the cheap side, but that is a design choice made by VW, not a manufacturing issue.

The only problem I have with the Sonic being on this list is that it is being compared to cars like the Versa and Fiesta which are both smaller and in many cases cheaper. Of course it is going to be heavy compared to those two. But it also has great crash scores and one of the best roof crush tests this side of a Tesla, and is positively Buick like compared those others when it comes to road/wind noise.

If no one has any issues with the newer look, I'm going to push it out to the entire userbase by the end of the week. I am just waiting on one graphic change from Dodgefan.
-
I'll say this... it looks like it rides much higher in the press photos than it seems to in person. It seems fairly normal in person and only if you step back to look at it next to a normal S60 does one really notice the change.

No need for Wifi. The cars have C2C communication.

No, they should be on reasonable wages. The ones in Dublin only managed to get such high wages because they have a very strong workers' union and they managed to strong arm the local leaders into giving them a lot of what they were asking for. Yet $50,000 Euro's at todays conversion equals $56,220 US Dollars a Year. That is really not that much. Bus drivers in the US here are in the news due to earning $100,000 US dollars a year or $88,936.32 Euro's. That is pretty crazy for driving a bus. Some make even more with the crazy amount of overtime. The $100k ones are usually clearing that after overtime.... that's not their base. Typical base salary in my area seems to be about $60k a year, but starting wage is $17.05 an hour after your training period ends( About $35k a year assuming no overtime) . During the training period, you only make $10 an hour. If you do a lot of overtime because your collegues call in sick... then yes you should be compensated for it. If you're dedicated, never call in sick, and take lots of overtime, I see no problem with a bus driver making $100k... they did the hours for it... pay them.

The biggest cost in batteries is in the materials, which China at the moment has a head start on.

Well there are a few hints as to where Tesla is going. The front motor in the double motor Model S can be plucked out and used in the rear of a smaller/cheaper car. I have a feeling that we could be seeing the preview of what is to come already.

I'm not 100% sure that's going to be the name... that is just how it is being referred to in the press currently. There has been no display of such a car as of yet.

Self driving cars don't have to be perfect, they just have to make fewer mistakes than humans do. Unfortunately, they could cut fatalities by 2/3s and the families of those who did die would sue the auto maker.
