  1. I agree, this picture is not good. In person this car is super sexy.
  2. I don't mind this eggcrate grill, it gives some visual relief from a very smooth sexy shape. If I were doing this car I would do that grill in a very subtle eggcrate, or closely aligned black horizontal slats.
  3. Look at the door handles. Such purity of design. Elegant in their simplicity. The more I look at this car and especially in profile, it's thoroughly modern, it could be made today and look right. And this is a '47!.....almost 60 years old.
  4. I share your affliction. It's a sensational car.
  5. That fridge sounds so cool...pardon the pun. And all the other collectibles. I can't get enough of this stuff. I like industrial 'antiques'....expecially like you say, the 'stylized' type. It says so much about the times they were produced and used. I like being surprised by many innovations that existed then, that we often think are just being discovered now.
  6. Super krazy.
  7. Hey thanks 68...my pleasure. It's nice to 'lighten' up a little on a lazy Sunday, do some fun stuff. And of course your considerable automobile knowledge and observations makes it even more fun. Honestly, 68 have you ever looked at doing something auto related in journalism etc?....you have a interesting take on all things automotive.
  8. Yes, you are right about the Firebird. It truely did stay the course. Camaro did falter a bit. I'm glad these two cars don't have their storied names on some economy tin box somewhere.
  9. The new Tahoe Two Mode Hybrid gets a 25% increase in fuel economy.
  10. General Motors has done more than cars over the years. Buses and trains as well. Harley Earl designed this: GM Trains: Fridgidaire Appliances:
  11. Yep, Challengers and Mustangs were not always the fire breathing muscles cars that most dream of. Camaro really always stayed true. It didn't slap the name on some lamer.
  12. The '47 Cisitalia is one of those milestone designs in auto history.
  13. Really like that scenerio Sixty8. Really these mega trucks are so American in nature...wide open spaces, big lifestyles. I need one. Here is one of Internationals big boys:
  14. I love the new Camaro concept. It makes the Mustang look postively dated and I mean in a bad way. And the Challenger is too much a carbon copy of the original. The Camaro is a thoroughly modern design. Life is good again.
  15. Thanks Sixty8 for this Camaro concept thread and for your analysis. Very thoughtful.
  16. The Challenger looks great!....but it's very literal in it's retro-ness. What I like about the new Camaro is that it has Camaro cues but is very sexy contemporary. If Chevy can keep this intact in the production car, they will have a winner.
  17. I was wondering too, what happened to LordStafford. Miss him here...a clear thinker, great debator...great car guy.
  18. I drove a 2006 Saab 9-3 Aero today with six speed. You simply must try this car. It is sensational. Fast and handles so incredibley. It begs to be driven with gusto.
  19. I have seen the Solstice in red in a show room. Saw my first Solstice on the street. It was parked on a street downtown....saw from the front....absolutely is seductive in it's street presence. Pictures don't come close.
  20. It's better than I could have dreamed!...love it. Thank you Chevy. Way more modern than Mustang...not so retro.
  21. The 2006 Camaro concept to be shown at the Detroit show.
  22. GM Sales Rise in Latin America, Africa, Middle East (Update1) Jan. 7 (Bloomberg) -- General Motors Corp., which is losing U.S. market share to Asian automakers, said sales rose 20 percent in Latin America, Africa and the Middle East in 2005, lifted by sales of Chevrolets. Sales rose to more than 880,000 from 737,000 in 2004, the Detroit-based company said in a statement. The world's biggest automaker has about an 18 percent market share in those regions. Sales of Chevrolet vehicles including the Aveo, Optra, Epica and Vivant jumped 83 percent last year in Latin America, Africa and the Middle East. GM will spend $600 million in those markets and introduce 26 new vehicles this year. GM is seeking to end six years of sales declines in the U.S., its biggest market. The company will cut prices on cars and trucks representing about 90 percent of its U.S. volume, according to a person familiar with the plans. The company yesterday said sales in its Asia Pacific region rose 20 percent to 1.065 million units last year, led by sales in China. Shares of GM rose 28 cents to $20.80 yesterday in New York Stock Exchange composite trading. The stock is down 47 percent in the past 12 months.
  23. Almost poetic.
