Oldsmobile
Ya, Cutlass used to be the best selling nameplate in North America. It makes you wonder, how can a car division go from that, to being extinct?

But the notion that electric cars will somehow stop using so-called non-renewable resourses is false, their premise is not just about being non-polluting. And nuclear plants take a decade or more to build if the public even warms to them.

Oldsmobile
Aren't they nice. Almost forgotten. Practically never see any here anymore. Oldsmobile had a rich history of innovation and design. Saturn?....nothing. You'd think I'd get over it, but it's still a very sad state of affairs. I've said it before, I wish GM at the very least would bring out a personal luxury car, one model only, with the nameplate reading 'Oldsmobile'. Give some continuing honor for this great car company. It could be marketed through the various dealers. I glanced at a long extablished Chevy dealership here today, hadn't been in the area for awhile...and such a nice surprise, they have the Chev Olds sign still on the building. Almost got misty eyed.

A huge problem with electric vehicles is this - what is the source of the electricity? Here and other jurisdictions, its fueled by coal. I don't see the advantage. And the hip and trendy will buy cars like this as a novelty and to bolster their green image. It all just makes me gag. It's a political and public relations vehicle, nothing more. If produced, it will be heavily subsidized by the government, ie our tax dollars, sell poorly and eventually fade away into the history books.

Posted this just because it's such a beautiful coupe. It's a look that I associate with the now misused term coupe.

Oil demand in the last few years by consumers has been at an all time high therefore prices have gone high. The market will dicate what cars are produced. I believe the internal combustion engine will be with us for a long time in the future. And oil will never run out. Isn't that great news? I don't think GM really wants to do electric cars, they are forced to by the frenzied green agenda. One day people will look back and chuckle over the silly season we are in. 'Remember the green era?' Years ago there were predictions that it would be all over by now because of overpopulation, pollution, lack of oil....if I'm not mistaken, people generally in the world are better off than anytime in history... Stop the hysteria.

I don't suspect that GM plans to make any money on these. It will however give them Green cred.

Do any of you think this vehicle will actually happen and actually sell? There has been much hype in the news. I wonder. I'll bet it's not going to happen as soon as they say if ever. But it sure gives GM good PR. My forecast is that GM will perfect and refine their hybrids and leave it at that.

Centre and center are both used here. It seems that when describing a building and such, centre is sometimes used....probably the French influence.

Blu, I liked the Ciera and Century as well. The coupes are definitely a rarity. Here's a couple examples, wish there were some better photos, but not many around:

I like the wheels on that 'Bird. You don't see that style much anymore. Does anyone know what you'd call these? Dish?

The best midsize Chevrolet in 30 years
I think the whole quality issue thing with GM in the past 30 years have been way overstated. I've owned many and had very good experiences with them. To me, where GM went wrong, is in the styling department, they stopped making really good looking cars. They are starting to change that. And the Malibu is good example of that. A good car and good looking too.
