  1. This is more GM smoke and mirrors. The DetNews article actually lists 13 "vehicles" in their headline table. Upon a cursory inspection, you can see that there are actually only 6 vehicles, with numerous rebadgings. Once again, an attempt to trump up the paltry investment in new product.
  2. Yeah, you're right, it confirms that he hasn't a clue.
  3. I've driven all but the Torrent, but have driven the Equinox. Had the Solstice for a weekend, couldn't pry it out of my envious grip. Driving an H3 now, love it, extremely maneuverable, sufficient power, barely. More hits coming......
  4. You're not sure that York knows more than any GM director?? Have you seen the roster?
  5. You either don't know jack, or your don't give a rip. Kerkorian is probably the only thing standing between GM and a total meltdown. Wagoner has consistently shown he doesn't get it. If you actually like GM, and want it to succeed, you'll root for Mr. K.
  6. I'm laughing, but not at your indecipherable joke, rather, at YOU.
  7. Personally, I'd like to see an ad showing an H1 running over, and crushing, a Prius.
  8. If only all of GM's platforms had as passionate and single minded champion. Thank you Dave!
  9. Of course you are much too intelligent to waste your money on high octane fuel.
  10. You may not have lived through the last "oil crisis". There was no crisis then, there is none now. There is no shortage of oil, the price spikes are driven by political influences and weather. Gas will be back down $1.50 by next summer. In case you haven't noticed, Americans have VERY short memories.
  11. NOw you get it. GM execs are trying to structure a deal that would allow GM to retain enough contol (49.9999%) to ensure that the newly "independent" GMAC doesn't cut and run. The new controlling partners would certainly have some other material interest in continuing to fund the auto business, like say, a big chunk of GM common or some type of convertible security. The 50.0000001% interest would be for the express purpose, obviously, of meeting a wall street /sec requirement that allows the ratings agencies to rethink the junking.
  12. There is the underlying assumption that GMAC, being controlled by a third party, will continue to provide funding to GM's automotive business. That seems like a reasonable assumption, that is, until the new "controlling owners" realize that they can get a much better return on their assets somewhere else..........
  13. Number 1, you don't get it. You won't accept global competition until you are on the unemployment line. Number2, Delphi's non-us operations are profitable, not germaine.
  14. they aren't adding to the debt load. They have simply aligned a severance policy with industry standard, and to my knowledge, they haven't actually paid anyone who has left yet. Even if they had, the differnce is only 6mos. pay for the employee in question. Ten UAW workers' absenteeism more than covers that.
  15. They had their chance, they are no longer going to be invited to the party. I am already hearing rumblings from Delphi guys saying, keep us, we'll ditch the union.... UNION-NO
  16. People have been AFFECTED by this for decades. Shareholders of GM stock have been raked over the coals by the UAW, time to pay up. the real reason that i respond to your post is to simply say: UNION - NO
  17. You are off the mark. Those that post against the union on this site don't want America to fail, rather just the opposite. Most right minded folk see the Union as ANTI-AMERICAN, damn near socialist. The hard working non-union folks, the ones that swim or sink on their own merit, are sick and tired of seeing unskilled laborers raking in the kind of money that normal people need 6 years of college to earn. The UAW was able to suspend the laws of economics, from their end only. While enforcing this above-market wage, the companies that agreed to it are going down the tubes. The parasite is definitely killing the host!
  18. Excellent post. You are absolutely right about the need to chase the non-union sales that are going to bmw, toyota, honda and the like. The doomsayers act like a nation's economy has never turned over before. Maybe they don't read, maybe they have never taken an econ. course on the company's dime, instead opting for web surfing and yoga. Hundreds of years ago, Americans all farmed, no one made cars. Some day, no one will make cars and we will all do something else. All of us, that is, that adapt to the times, and don't sit fat and happy with a "guaranteed" job.
  19. What part of bankrupt don't you understand??
  20. Wow, what a socialist! I thought that this was an automotive enthusiast website. When did it become a sympathetic forum for coddling overpaid unionists that aren't willing to adapt like the rest of us? All of you should stick to what you know, cars! Obviously macro-economics is not the strong point of many here.
  21. You are an idiot, there is no such thing as the "Labor Force". For every overpaid UAW worker that chooses to walk-out, there are 10 hard working Americans that will take their place, just ask NW mechanics. The unionized workforce is such a tiny percentage of the American population, I don't know why we even waste our breath (or our typed characters).
  22. No teacher with any marketability would seek a job in one of Michigan's larger cities. The small towns, those that value education and the strength that it brings to their property values, pay very handsomely, including the district that I live in. Our teachers are NOT part of the two major militant national unions. Instead, they have their own, district-only organization. We negotiate with them in good faith, and pay them what they are worth. They never walk out, they are never bad-mouthed publicly, we are a team. the teachers that join the unions and seek jobs in the big cities are, on average, teachers because they couldn't make it in the real world, not dedicated educators as you would hope.
  23. Source: Delphi to file Ch. 11 Saturday Board set to meet Saturday morning to make final decision, source says. get a load of that Josh.
  24. For a guy who had already said all he cared to say............you have said quite a bit more. You're kinda funny, please continue...
