  1. Problem is once you get that high there is no turning back. All the executives never get fired they just get shuffled around at the same level. It's like they hit this plateu because they know they can never come down off it. From what I've noticed (and this is stricly my opinion - American workers are mostly motivated by money, so why not use it as a performance tool? In constrast, Japanese workers are mostly motived by pride - they take pride in doing a good job, and money is a nice bonus. It all stems from culture differences. I say if GM can promote, then GM can demote.
  2. Seems to me, and a few others who have been posting in this thread, that it's the other way around.
  3. Performace Division is a group of people @ GM not a brand. Mark Reuss was an executive of a group of people. There is nothing wrong with a performance/halo vehicle for every division. It helps build brand image and rep. Would you like to see Cadillac with no V series? They need them to compete against Mercedes and BMW with AMG and M Divisions respectively. Would you like to see Pontiac with no GXP editions (I believe Car and Driver called the Grand Prix GXP a FWD breakthrough???). Plus, you guys have been oozing over a GXP Solstice (and RedLine Sky). I mean it's not like they are making high-performance Buicks. So, what's wrong with having a high performance car in brands that could use them? (Plus high performance is respective to their segment. A high performance Hummer isn't a drag racer, it's an off road monster. See H1 Alpha.)
  4. Are you kidding me people are buying that pile of junk. Not only is it ugly, it smells like burnt hair on the inside.
  5. The Performance Division is a seperate division within GM that was responsible for the RedLine Saturns, the SS Chevy's, GXP Pontiac's, V series Caddillacs, and probably some other cool stuff (that HHR Bonneville Racecar was made by them and SoCal. And Jay Leno's Toronado that was on that show Rides. And the Cobalt RaceCar that won the Time Attack challenge and beat a 650 HP Skyline.) That's a pretty impressive resume. If you ask me, I think those were the only car's selling w/o rebates and definately bolstered GM's bottom line. Sounds like Mark Reuss was doing something right, so they put him in charge of other cars. I see no problem. P.S. The Z06 is done by the Corvette team, as is the C6. They are seperate from GMPD.
  6. The xB was built in 1 year. Big friggin deal. So was the GTO. It sure is nice when you have a car ALREADY BUILT. What's more impressive is the Solstice (original) concept being built in 4 months, and the production concept -> production was 2-2.5 years, and that is from the ground up. Toyota truely is the master of the press.
  7. Protection from scratches and stuff as assemblers sometimes have to lean over the engine bay.
  8. Those are the modules that set major trouble codes that light warning lights...(Air Bag light, CEL, SES, etc..) Plus, the are common across most cars.
  9. I love how they draw out how tedious putting up the solstice top is ... god forbid you have to stop. Then they mention with the Miata you can just "reach back." We'll I don't know who these people think they are if they can just "reach back" at 30 mph and put the top up w/ their hands. Call me crazy but I think they are going to "have to stop" regardless. Idiots!
  10. lol i think your uncle needs some new friends!
