What happened to Econo Tires??

I Finaly got tires for the caprice since well winter is coming and i have a nice gash on my hand from the steel band that was sticking out of the tire plus the blistering looked pretty bad on the one tire. These were bald tires. I go up looking for cheap econo Whitewalls for decent ones $61 a tire. A little extreme? what happend to the el cheapos for 29.99 that lasts 40k?

I ended up with Repblic Ensigns never Heard of them before. But after 200 miles there quiet and have decent grip. I still need to get an alignment tho. that bill was $260 i think plus i still need to go get an alignment.

Plus when did motor oil go up in price? I changed my oil and for 6 quarts or vavloline conventinal and a fram oil filter it was $22 bucks. Damn Either Im haveing a mental brain block or oil costs alot now.

I cant tell you guys since Im not allowed under some Federal Act BS but I sold a car and bought a new one nothing like a new car. Over the next few months i will give hints but never confirm it. Hint 1 sadly its FWD

wide 19" rims = low profile hi performance tires with low treadwear (220) which yield 20k if I'm lucky = $1400. :nono:

Granted, they are worth every penny (well, kinda)...It's just not easy to justify all the time..

Heh...I try not too (besides...open diff one sided burnouts are silly..gotta fix that). Combined with the stock negative camber on these cars which eats through rear tires (kind of toned it down during the 4 wheel alignment after the suspension install) I have had the car a little over a year now and have gone through about 50% on my second set of tires...I had Bridgestone Potenza S03's previously...now I have Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's which I like better and they seem to be wearing a little better as well.
