Salvation Army...

Featured Replies

It's that time of year when the Salvation Army guys are standing on busy street corners or outside your local supermarket with their red bucket while jingling their little bell. I don't really mind giving when I have change. I've given a dollar here and there but does anybody feel pangs of guilt or selfishness when you simply walk past the guys or say you don't have any change (whether you do or not)? I dunno....even when I really don't have any change on me, I feel a liitle guilt.
No. I give my money to reputable charities that do not discriminate. Red Cross gets my vote. So do any AIDS, Leukemia, Cancer or other medical research charities.
I give to the Salvation Army. I'll freely admit there was a time in my life when my family fell back on the support of the Salvation Army and their holiday food and toy donation programs, so I feel no qualms about giving them my change when I visit the store.

Do tell... who does the Salvation Army disciminate aganist?

I donate to two charities in my life. One being any diabetes chairty, the other being my nephews charity, the Kyle Anthony Oliver aka K.A.O. Charity. I'll start one day for my nephew. He's my LIFE and makes me happy to be alive. Such a joyous kid. I love him.

I read something about them discriminating against gays and that being the reason Target no longer allows them outside their stores.
A few years ago, the Salvation Army briefly had domestic partner benefits, but then they were rescinded after an uproar. The Salvation Army does do good work, but that move did not sit well with me.
