GM pays back Germany; signals fewer job cuts

MUNICH -- General Motors Co. has paid back a loan from Germany and slightly lowered its target for job cuts at struggling European unit Opel.

Opel's Bochum plant is safe, GM Europe boss says

MUNICH -- Opel's plant in Bochum, Germany, will make future products and continue to play an important role in General Motors' European manufacturing network, GM Europe boss Nick Reilly said today.

Spain sees no more than 900 job cuts at Opel plant

MADRID (Reuters) -- Spain's industry minister said after meeting with a top General Motors Co. executive that no more jobs would be cut at a GM Opel plant near Zaragoza than previously agreed with former prospective buyer Magna International Inc.

Led by Astra, Opel's October production rises 77%

MUNICH -- The big European production winner in October was Opel/Vauxhall. Led by a strong increase in Astra output, Opel/Vauxhall's production rose 77 percent to 87,246 units, according to J.D. Power Automotive Forecasting.
