It's from a Stephen King book, I'm certain. I think it came from From A Buick 8, right?

Remember in the first few pages of Christine when the old man says:

I bought her back in 1958, brand spankin' new... love that new-car smell, it's the best smell in the world, except maybe for p*$$y.

:spin:

I can place the damn quote...I know I've read the book from which it came, but I just can't think of the book title. Damn.

(Did '68 get it right...?)

It'll come to me. It always does. :)

I'm sure I know it...Hell, I probably own the book since it sounds so familar.

Was made into a movie with a different title than the original story.

The "he" in the quote was dead shortly after leaving his footwear.(maybe simultaneously)

The title of the story is not the title of the book in which it is found.

Well, after reading that last clue, I thought of "The Body," which was known as "Stand By Me" when it was made into a movie. The story came out of "Different Seasons," by the way.
