Cheers or Jeers: 66 Econoline Falcon Travel Wagon Camper Conversion

You are looking at an Extremely Rare 1966 Econoline Falcon Camper Travel Wagon Conversion. 1966 was the ONLY Year for this Ford authorized and built Camper Conversion on the Extended Wheelbase Body also known as a Bus. It is one of very few remaining examples left and yes it is in need of some TLC but is is a very worthwhile project. It was factory loaded and equipped with the biggest engine available in these vehicles-The trusty inline 6 Cylinder with 240 Cubic Inches. A very rare C-4 Automatic Transmission and a Bulletproof 9" Ford Rear Axle with the 3:00 Ratio. It received the Camper Travel Wagon Conversion and as such you have the Most UNIQUE and Retro Looking Pop-Up Roof Setup that takes all of about 3 Seconds to Raise!!! It has Sliding Windows on either side of the Pop Up to allow the cool Breeze to run through and even has one of the three ORIGINAL hammocks still in place. You had 2 Hammocks in the rear section and you could set up a 3rd between the front seats for a small child/person. All the Brackets are still in place. They would be super easy and simple to replicate. It is Factory equipped with a rack out step on the Passenger Side below the Double Doors. In the pictures it looks like one door sags but it just was not closed properly. This rack out step is a fairly rare and unique option for these Vans! It is still in place and in good shape. As equipped from the factory- A Canopy was attached to the Passenger side and could be very easily duplicated for Camping or Picnick Outings. The Body is Fairly straight and there are NO signs of any collisions. The floors are Very Soilid and the Only Real Rust to worry about would be on the lower front cab corners, the rear lower corners and the rear top edge corners which ALL look to be fairly easy to repair , straightforward, body repairs. All the Door Hinge Bracket assemblies are super solid throughout the whole Van and not rusy or rotted out. This is as SOLID as you would ever hope to fid for a 45 Year Old Vehicle and is a GREAT Foundation for a Custom KILLER Van or a Correct and Unique Factory Limited Edition Camper Van-Either Way-You are starting with a winner!!! The Glass is GOOD all the way around and not Broken anywhere. The Gauges are still legible and clean and the steering column feels tight. The Headlight trim is NICE!!! The Van is NOT Currently running, altough it will start and run for a few seconds if gas is poured straight into the carb. Brakes are weak. No Battery. It does Have Classic Vehicle Texas Plates and it was last run on the street in 2009. Please keep in mind this IS Sold as a project and it is NOT ready for you to jump in and drive Cross Country in at this time. You will need to provide your own Transport Arrangements and I will be happy to assist in any way I can to load. I will NOT Be able to transport to you unless you are local and any arrangement will have to be thoroughly disscussed, and agreed upon by both parties. Yes you may find a 66 Econoline-Yes you might find a Short Wheel Base Camper Van as there were Lots more Built-But You Will not see a REAL Factory Extended Camper Conversion in this Price Range Ready for you to Paint/Restore/Customize to your likes and /or specifications for YEARS to Come!!! This averages a yearly build of approximately 40 Camper Conversions per year during that timeframe!! The slammed yellow breadbox is NOT part of this auction and is merely shown to illustrate how wicked these flat nose vans can be made ot to look with a little customization!
