The 2017 Hyundai Ioniq offered three distinct electrified powertrains on a single dedicated AE platform: the Hybrid pairs a 1.6L Atkinson-cycle engine with a 32kW electric motor for a combined 139 horsepower and an EPA-rated 57/59 mpg city/highway, while the Plug-in Hybrid uses the same drivetrain with a larger 8.9 kWh battery for up to 27 miles of electric-only range. The Ioniq Electric rounds out the lineup with a 28 kWh battery pack and an EPA-rated 124-mile range, making all three variants the most fuel-efficient options in their respective segments at launch.
