  1. I think its funny how people say Saturn stole Olds market. Saturn has always had GMs worst cars, yet they still manage to get conquest sales. Olds was given some of GMs best cars in the 90s, yet couldnt stop their sales from dropping.
  2. I would include the Fiero, but with the Solstice, it wouldnt make sense. Pontiac Tempest- lesser GTO in coupe and sedan form. Pontiac Kappa coupe and sedan Cadillac ULS Camaro CTS or STS coupe/conv
  3. Relay-Leave the minivans to Buick and Chevy. SV6-Pontiac should never have had a minivan under any circumstances Ranier-Too many clones off one platform Torrent-Clone, should be the S3X Uplander- Ugly, Minivans are ugly, but this is ugly even by minivan standards.
  4. It just means the Saab epsilon was changed by changing the points where the platform mounts to the assembly line. This has nothing to do with the exterior or part sharing. They will still be allowed to modify the platform, as long as they can still be built on the same assembly line.
  5. No one is proposing to kill all of GMs FWD vehicles. But there are still more sales for GM to get by adding RWD vehicles to their lineup.
  6. But the engine is hand assembled in a plant with limited capacity, so I dont think that still holds true in this case.
  7. I drive a 98 GTP, and while I feel its handling is very good, it would still be better if it was RWD.
  8. No, I wish it was smaller and didnt weigh 3800lbs, and had a Tempest coupe based off it with a V6 and lesser v8s
  9. I just hate the feeling of trying to turn the car fast, and the car keeps going straight. You cant steer with the throttle. At that point the only thing you can do is slam on the brakes and hope the car either turns or stops. In RWD the backend might want to kick out, but you can still let off the gas, or counter-steer.
  10. I think they just knew they couldnt get away with it anymore, and chose to voluntarily certify their engines just to save face. How is it that only to 2 so called best car makers be the only ones with such drastic rating drops? Nissan showed it wasn't just because they were Asian companies, because Nissan didnt have any drops like Toyota and Honda. It may not have been cheating, because the rules were open to interpretation. But that doesnt make it right either.
  11. RWD isnt really a niche anymore. Nearly 200,000 Mustangs, 100,000+ Magnums, 300s, Chargers, BMWs, soon to be Hyundais, CTS, Nearly all trucks are sold in RWD form. I think that adds up to a significant portion of car sales. But GM is getting left behind. GM doesnt even have AWD available yet on cars it should be available on. How can we have so many choices, but not a single sub-$30,000 RWD coupe or sedan from GM? Most people dont know what wheels drive the car, others dont care, others want RWD. The people who dont know what wheels drive the car will still buy a RWD if it is packaged right. Why cant GM basically just take the 3 series, take out all the expensive luxury stuff, and sell a car like that for $20,000-$25,000?
  12. That sounds good, but with the current Chevy line-up I dont think the Nomad would fit. Theres already the HHR, and Cobalt in around that same price range. It would fit much better as a sedan or coupe for Pontiac, which currently only has the Vibe in that range.
  13. It may not effect us, who know the 0-60 times of the cars. But what about the general population? They dont know 0-60, all they know is HP. And they could be out testing the V6 230hp camry, and not thinking its that fast, so they wouldnt even test the 200hp Malibu because it has 30 less HP, so it must be alot slower.

  15. Before the boards went down, didn't thegriffon start a thread about this? I believe he said some companies knew exactly what they were doing, and claiming the ratings were accurate, but they werent even converting to SAE standards, but they were going by the EU standard for HP or something like that. Where is thegriffon, I'm sure he could clear all of this up for us.
  16. I would like to see the CTS get smaller, mostly for handling benefits and weight reduction benefits. That people do shop for, even if they dont shop with a tape measure.
  17. I'm waiting to see the new ION as well, I could care less about the Outlook, but I cant wait to see what the ION will look like. Hopefully it will look like a clone of the Astra, especially the hatch.
  18. Wouldnt that be kind of like rating ground clearance to the floor instead of to the frame? Was that open to interpretation too? The way I see it is, if its not rated as exactly like its sold with the specified fuel listed in the manual, its cheating, especially if it was done purposely just to inflate the numbers. GM would be taking a beating right now if the Malibu only had 190 instead of 200, or if any other ratings from GM were 5-10 short.
  19. I just had to add the V since it's almost available now.
