  1. Same here, for me going from Seattle WA to the greater LA area to visit relatives/family. I am totally covered in all the spots I usually stop to eat, refuel, take a break, etc. The next few years will be great for the EV road trip getting easier and easier.
  2. Have to say that this is AWESOME. Pointing out the fact that many folks who are against EVs always point out slow charging. Public charging needs to always be the fastest possible IMHO. The fact that these companies are coming together to have 350kW fast charging for road trips is a great start to add to the NACS Supercharging stations and others. I am very hopeful that this will drive EV adoption as with the new year the instant rebate credit will help folks reduce costs immediately at the dealership.
  3. Interesting read: Electric vehicles are better than gas-powered cars in winter—here’s why | Ars Technica I have come to realize that those that attack EVs tend to not understand the technology or the whole supply chain and the changes that happen. Knowledge is power.
  4. Is it really an individual's responsibility to clean up a mess or more a move to get the humanity mass to change habits for a better healthier planet? Right now, Individual's do cause their own share of greenhouse gas, but as has been shown, if you can remove those gases to more focal places like a battery assembly plant, earth mineral production, etc. you can also focus the remove of large amounts of greenhouse gases in set locations. Then we also have the fact that cleaner cities, less noise pollution, no toxic diesel particulates in the cities, etc. To me that means better/cleaner living standard. But to each their own in how they approach this.
  5. I find this story very interesting. ‘Dirtier to build but cleaner to drive’: This is how many miles you need to drive an EV to reduce its carbon footprint, study finds - MarketWatch The 'dirtier to build' articles are pretty much always FUD imho since they always scrupulously take into account energy requirements (and related fossil fuel impacts) of refining battery materials, but somehow conveniently omit the same impacts for mining/transporting/manufacturing the equivalent parts of a gas auto. Not to mention that the batteries are not suddenly useless after they've been aged out of EV use, they can be repurposed for use in home energy storage applications, whereas an EOL gas auto is pretty much entirely scrap. And even if a case can be made for 'dirtier to build' it still omits that the supposed pollution is all generated in a few strictly defined locations (power plants, mines and factories) where measures can more easily be taken to corral and mitigate said pollution, whereas gas autos are roving around spraying it everywhere.
  6. Here is the full press release on this: The Best Get Better: Meet Chevrolet’s New 2025 Tahoe and Suburban @riviera74 As per the details at the end of the chart, the weight of the Passengers, cargo and options/accessories may reduce the amount you can tow. Suburban has more interior room than the Tahoe and as such tow's less due to the increased number of passengers / cargo. Interesting observation, Suburban can have 2nd and 3rd row bench seats, but Tahoe has captain seats 2nd row only with bench seat for the 3rd row, so less people capacity. Pretty much, you can probably tow more with the suburban if you have less people/cargo.
  7. Very interesting video @Drew Dowdell Do you know if Tesla requires some sort of subscription to Tesla to allow the 360 degree cameras to record what is going on with the vehicle the way GM is requiring Subscription to On-Star to allow recording use via the Camera's? Having the look at these two colors in their high-res pictures, I will take the Lakeshore Blue Metallic over the Cypress Grey.
  8. Totally agree with Trinacriabob stated, @riviera74 wishing you a belated B-Day. Hope you had a great day with friends and or family.
  9. Very cool tech coming from Hyundai which ended ICE R&D in 2021 as they move towards their long range EV Future. Hyundai Motor and Kia Unveil Paradigm-Shifting 'Uni Wheel' Drive System to Transform Mobility Design - Hyundai Newsroom
  10. Where does it say they are pulling funding for EVs? They have canceled non-binding agreements and have delayed production starts, but there is nothing that says they have pulled EV funding.
  11. Another interesting read as I compare Hyundai EV Platform to GM's Ultium Platform. Hyundai Has Its Own Take on GM’s Ultium Battery Architecture (autoweek.com) Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About GM's Ultium Platform - And More! - CleanTechnica
  12. Interesting how the news is saying that GM is stopping the funding for EVs and investing in ICE and buying shares back. https://pressroom.gm.com/gmbx/us/en/pressroom/home/news.detail.html/Pages/news/us/en/2023/nov/1129-businessupdate.html Yet the facts are while they are increasing the dividend and buying stock, there is no stopping the committed funding to EVs. Interesting info as they finalize the 2024 budget year taking into account the new UAW agreements.

  16. Very cool Surreal, hope you can find the finished pictures as it would be great to see how it looked afterwards.
  17. Celebrating tonight with the family and friends. Korean Bulgogi, side dishes and of course Soju Bombs. If you have never heard of a Korean Soju Bomb or Japanese Saki Bomb, they are pretty much the same thing, a 3:7 mixture or take one pint of Korean or Japanese beer, add a shot of Soju or Saki and pound it down while eating good food. How to Do a Soju Bomb: Best Way To Drink Soju Is In This Beer Cocktail - Thrillist @Drew Dowdell Have to laugh this morning at the ads as I have never seen one so big covering the whole webpage.

  20. Good info For edge, chrome and Firefox I get a single pop-up ad when I go to a forum channel like Random or to the home page on my personal and work computer system. On my Samsung Ultra 22 phone both chrome and Samsung browser seem to allow multiple pop-up ads. Very weird, I keep it somewhat under control by using the chrome browser so I just get the single ad per forums channel.
  21. This is a funny read. 10 Glaring Problems With Toyota No One Talks About (msn.com)
  22. Agree that is pathetic. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!!!
  23. I will say that we still have a ways to go in working out the kinks, much like how the first decade of Tesla was nothing pretty for the S quality wise before things settled down to more fit-n-finish issues, but yes we still have plenty of quality issues to work out. I am hoping that the 3 month delay for Equinox EV was just not getting the battery plants online but also added QA testing of the EV as this needs to be a homerun hit for GM. I do feel that no matter the Legacy OEM, there is a ton of training to do from Sales to Service yet for EVs and sadly it does not help when you have a company like Ford that is only requiring Level 2 home charging chargers to be installed at dealerships. This is pathetic. GM if your top tier is requiring Level 3 charger on site, but middle and bottom tier are level 2. I feel all should be level 3 no matter what. I wonder if @Drew Dowdell sees the same large pop up when he uses the app on his phone. I stopped and went with just regular browser on my phone when away from the home. Far more usable than the app.
  24. As expected Toyota grabbed headlines about a breakthrough solid state batteries, but clearly they have not invented them yet and even if they can actually deliver, it will be limited to 10,000 EVs globally by 2030. Guess they still think hydrogen is the way to go. ? https://electrek.co/2023/11/21/toyotas-long-range-solid-state-ev-batteries-limited/
  25. I still get a single add popup on the page I leave open that I have to close. Do you get this? Example is if I click on the Cheers & Gears logo in the upper left corner to go to the home page, I get a single popup that I have to close before I can look at the home page.
