  1. Ju-yung Chung founding Chairman of Hyundai wanted to help rebuild Korea after the Korean War and improve the lives of the people. He introduced at the 1974 Turin Motor Show the Pony Coupe Concept. To quote Hyundai: "The two-door sports car’s exterior featured a sleek roofline, pure surfaces, dynamic proportion profiles and a unique shape for the B pillar, which elevated its daring spirit. The interior showcased an iconic sensibility with the Giugiaro monocoque design and driver-centered floating architecture. With its unique aesthetic sensibility, the 1974 Pony Coupe Concept was a groundbreaking model in its time. Unfortunately, due to the adverse global economic conditions in the late 1970s, what could have been Hyundai’s first sensational sports car was unable to reach commercial production and was lost to history." We all have seen how much Hyundai Motor Group has grown into the current global auto industry it is today. We fast forward to the desire of Hyundai to bring a modern version of this Pony Car to concept form again when they introduced the N Vision 74 Concept Car. Comparisons of the original to the current. The N Vision 74 will now compete in the Concept Cars and Prototype category at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, one of the worlds largest and best know competitions from May 19th to May 21st. We now have via a Korean News site: [Exclusive]"Pony Coupe will be mass-produced" Hyundai Motor Company to be announced later this month - Money Today (mt.co.kr) That Hyundai is going to move forward with this EV. Inside sources have stated that on the 27th of June, Hyundai will hold a Pony Day at their Hyundai Motor Studio in Seoul to reveal the production model of the Pony Coupe According to various sources, the Pony Coupe from 1974 was of great inspiration in the creation of the DeLorean DMC 12 which was as we all know later used for a time machine in the 1980's classic "Back to the Future" Hyundai as a very profitable auto company has been returning to it's past legacy for inspiration especially in production of their IONIQ series of EVs. Auto enthusiasts have been very vocal about Hyundai producing the N Vision 74 car at a time that many auto companies are going truck/SUV only. Hyundai has returned to bringing back the original Pony Car by working with the original designer Giorgetto Giugiaro and his son along with others in the Hyundai family to restore for public enjoyment the Pony Car. The original specs for the Pony Car. The N Vision 74 Concept specification also includes a Hydrogen generator for extended driving range. Hyundai brought back the original team that created the Pony Car for the review of the restoration. Hyundai has opened a Heritage Exhibition to high light the PONY and introduce RETRACE a book and magazine series celebrating the brands heritage. Hyundai Motor Opens Heritage Exhibition 'PONY, the timeless' and Introduces RETRACE, the Heritage Publication Series - Hyundai Newsroom This brings us to what inspired this story to begin with, the news story that Hyundai will during the Month of June 2023 reveal a production EV version of the N Vision 74 Concept. Hyundai already has the platform and 77.4kWh battery pack to support such a performance EV. The question for you the reader: Is this the start of a new Pony car war with American brands as Hyundai brings to market a 2 door coupe with 680 HP (500kW) and 664 lb-ft of torque (900Nm) with RWD torque vectoring EV? Should Mustang, Camaro and Challengers be worried? Will the Japanese and Chinese respond?
  2. Yes, they get the Tintcoat paint on all the lower level trims below the ZL1 and SS, the top level has a Panther Black Matte paint, the first ever offered on a Camaro and only on the ZL1 trim plus other options. The SS gets a Panther Black Metallic paint which I do wonder how much different is it from the Black Metallic Tintcoat paint. At least the ZL1 edition will truly have a few things to make it stand out from the others.
  3. Rereading it, I think they are just stating that there is other models available, it does not seem to imply that you can get that package on anything other than the special V8. They also just released this today and it also will use the same special V8 motor. Camaro Motorsports Heritage Grows with ZL1 Garage 56 Edition (chevrolet.com)
  4. Chevrolet Commemorates Panther Code Name with Sixth-Generation Camaro Final Collector’s Edition The 650 horsepower LT4-powered ZL1 Collector’s Edition, limited to 350 units, will feature a Panther Black Matte exterior color – the first matte paint offered on Camaro from the factory. The ZL1 will also feature the front splitter from the ZL1 1LE, and the rear wing from ZL1 1LE on coupes. The Black Metallic ZL1 stripe, red brake calipers and black lug nuts complete the exterior look. On the inside, all 350 Collector’s Edition ZL1 vehicles receive a serialized steering wheel badge representing where that vehicle was built in sequence.
  5. Wrong, Tesla only in the last couple of years started to make a profit, they lost money hand over fist. QUOTE of Tesla History: Tesla was founded in 2003 by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning. Elon Musk joined the company in 2004 and became CEO in 2008. Tesla posted its first quarterly profit in 2013 and reported its first full-year profit in 2020. Ten years till it's first profit and 17 years till it's first year of profits. GM announced the BOLT in 2015, started shipping them in 2016, had hiccups no different than Tesla and then announced the Ultium program in 2020, shipped the GMC Hummer and BrightDrop EVs in 2021. They have multiple models coming out this year. 10 years to a profitable year compared to 17 years to a profitable year for Tesla. How is that a bad thing? As I have told you before it takes time to ramp up production to lower prices and deliver said product. GM is doing it as is Hyundai, Kia, Gensis, VW far faster than Tesla has been able to update let alone deliver new products. I would be worried that Tesla which is having a demand problem much like Ford is a bigger issue of having to be bought out by someone in 2030 than GM going away from the market place.
  6. I realize many will see Luxury Volvo versus average Chevrolet, but I was thinking price wise, more options that are not $70K plus like some complain about.
  7. This is cool, something to compete with the Chevrolet Equinox EV. https://insideevs.com/news/670927/2024-volvo-ex30-small-suv-debuts-brand-cheapest-ev-34950-usd/ Ouch, this is not good for Ford. https://thedriven.io/2023/06/05/electric-ford-mustangs-have-a-demand-problem-as-mach-e-sales-slump-44-pct/
  8. This makes me not want to own Ford or Lincoln products as the recalls stack up over the last 5 years. https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/recalls/2023/06/06/ford-recall-escape-maverick-corsair-fire-risk/70293951007/ Ford needs to get their quality act together. This is Not Quality Job 1 as they market. Having to park your auto and not use it till a fix is developed is not a proper response. Will Ford pay for auto rentals for these folks?
  9. Such a dick move by supercar owners blocking ev chargers. https://www.carscoops.com/2023/06/lamborghini-and-mclaren-snapped-ice-ing-tesla-supercharger-in-australia/
  10. Very Cool to see that the Equinox EV has gone into production test runs. GM Started Building 2024 Chevy Equinox EV Units (gmauthority.com)
  11. I get what you are saying and agree that Lincoln is not going after the performance market. With that said, Cadillac I feel is taking a cheap way here in that they offer Luxury levels of their autos and then sport and performance. I get that the seats should be firmer in the Sport and Performance, but Luxury should be Luxury and I find nothing wrong with the magna ride suspension absorbing the bumps of the road while still having a total comfort chair inside like my 2006 Escalade. Sadly, Cadillac seems to have gone the firm seat for everyone even if you are buying the Luxury level of auto.
  12. BBQ season has begun!!! I decided to on Saturday make baby back ribs. I decided I wanted to do two types of ribs, a traditional honey BBQ sauced ribs and one based on a Korean Spicy Pork dish which uses Gochujang which is the base of the sauce. A Gochujang BBQ sauce. To make sure the ribs were tender and juicy, I had been doing research on Brines. Wet Brine: 6 cups water, divided 1 (12 oz) light beer or imperial 1 cup apple juice or cider 1 cup dark brown sugar (sub light brown sugar if that’s what you have) 1/2 cup Kosher salt1 tablespoon granulated garlic1 tablespoon granulated onion 1/2 tablespoon Chinese 5 Spice 2 cups ice cubes I bought 10lbs of baby back Prime ribs from business Costco, so I doubled the Brine batch to ensure that they were well covered. I used two 19oz IPA Indian Pale Ale from DESCHUTES brewery. I then salt and peppered two racks of ribs and used my pork rub on the other two racks of ribs. I then wrapped them in parchment paper, covered with foil and back into the fridge for another 24hr nap before grilling them slowly. I have to say they came out very tender, juicy beyond compare, best ribs I have made yet, 250, slow go for almost 4hrs using only the outside two burners on my grill. The traditional ribs were awesome with a nice sweet sauce. The Gochujang BBQ sauce is a spice lovers dream. Darker than the traditional sauce in the pictures, this sauce was put on the salt n pepper ribs. Rich deep flavor, spicy, tender and the bones were left clean. For those wanting to try this sauce on their ribs, here is a very similar recipe that my wife has made as everything is in her head. https://www.koreanbapsang.com/dweji-bulgogi-korean-spicy-pork-bbq/ We add red pepper flakes to kick up the heat, make it as thin or thick as you like, adjust to personal taste.
  13. Missed that in my quick look while catching up on work from PTO.
  14. Agree comfort should always be in Luxury Auto's foremost, but sadly brand name bragging has made things less so. I have no problem with the thinner seats that are made in the Escalade as long as they offer comfort, sadly the thinner seats are hard as a rock limiting road trip comfort.
  15. Pretty much since the start of the Pandemic, I have always believed that the Commercial Property market was headed for a major crash with adjustments needed. In some cases, businesses such as Amazon have realized this and converted their 88 Story HQ building in Seattle to all Apartments keeping their HQ where it is as they reduce commercial property needs due to WFH ability for employees to perform the same as in an Office. https://www.politico.com/news/2023/06/05/mortage-interest-rates-property-values-00094969 This is a good read as it focuses on the $1.5 Trillion in debt due over the coming 24 months and with commercial property only at 56% occupancy the ability to raise rents and especially for those in REITs (Real Estate Investment Trusts) to gain consistent income is dropping like a rock. Time for a mind change for these folks. Real estate will always be a good investment long term but how one uses that property will and always does change.
  16. LOL, I find it funny that the Hemi V8 in the Ram truck makes the same MPG as the all new Turbocharged V6 that Toyota is pushing into all their autos saying it is more efficient. https://www.motorbiscuit.com/small-engine-scam-ram-1500s-final-v8-and-tundras-first-turbocharged-v6-get-identical-mpg/ This video I find interesting as it proves that going smaller is not always better.
  17. Very cool that GM is still investing in ICE while heavily investing in the future of EVs. GM Furthers Flint Commitment with $1B+ Manufacturing Investment Details of today's announcements include: Flint Assembly – GM will invest $788 million to prepare the plant to assemble GM’s next-generation ICE HD trucks. Plant updates will include a body shop building expansion, general assembly conveyor expansion, and new tooling and equipment. Flint Metal Center – GM will invest $233 million for new stamping dies to support production of GM’s next-generation ICE HD trucks, as well as press refurbishments and new equipment.
  18. Totally agree about the firm seats. I am back from my week of PTO having driven 545 miles in one day to Fairmont Hot Springs BC. Summer Family Trip - Fairmont Hot Springs Resort Reservations I will confirm that the comfort level on the seat is of BIG BIG IMPORTANCE for road trips. My 2006 Cadillac Escalade ESV has the following seats: Totally comfortable and had no problems driving for hours and hours without stopping. Solid adjustable support and yet comfort that makes it easy on the body. Today's Escalade 2023 seat, website sucks as they no longer allow all the views you used to get, but the seats are hard as a rock having personally tried them, no comfort and would not make a road trip comfy SUV. Good thing for online reviews. Current Cadillac seats are not road trip worthy even in the cars.
  19. Very cool to see the Bolt/Bolt EUV doing so well. Chevy Bolt Family Gains Massive Market Share During Q1 2023 (gmauthority.com) Almost 20,000 Bolts sold in the US compared to January-March 2023: Tesla Model Y - 93,294 (up 79%) Tesla Model 3 - 52,885 (up 11%) Yes small but growing which is good.
  20. Thank you @trinacriabob for the review, interesting to see how GM just kept this going when it truly needed a major refresh. Sad for the end of ICE cars for GM, but hoping they get more options in EV format.
  21. So excited for you Robert on your new place and all the exciting things that come with a new place. Just got back from PTO at Fairmont Hot springs and already miss the twice day soaking in them. I can feel the difference in my body and I know you and your sister will love it for making the body feel better. Looking forward to updated pictures when you get a chance. Exciting to think that you will be moved in next weekend.
  22. Just like Tesla and Mercedes, Selling out can mean many things and VW is not stating how many they are going to produce for this year, so it can be many things of German Deception, no different than Tesla Deception.
  23. This so deserves a FAILURE emoji as there is NO camper. Musk had a one and done custom built unit to show off, but there is no company building or even offering to build yet a camper, trailer, etc. for the Cybertruck. There is a company that has exclusive rights to sell you a limited space bed tent. There website and name is a deceptive name as it is NOT a CAMPER. Homepage - Space Campers
  24. It will be exciting to see how this goes. I like the look, be interesting to see how roomy it is inside.
  25. I hope they prosecute that You Tuber for her stupidity. She deserves to have to pay big time for that stunt.
