  1. Or just don't talk. So, it turns out that the latest Ford GT is the third version of a mid-engine they have done for street use. Amazing that some Ford fans don't seem to know that
  2. Fear makes for powerful blinders. I feel for my former co-workers. But Oshawa is done. The Government of Ontario and Unifor have combined to make it too expensive to make cars in the province. Ingersoll should take notice. The Feds don't have much say about it. The Provincial government is mainly to blame on the elected-official side of the table.
  3. Kitchen ware is 2 isles over /aisles ...and now we're tit-for-tat on post oopsies. But the Camaro is still kicking the crap outta he Shelby, regardless of variant. Seriously-the ZL1 is supposed to be the variant that ISN'T the hardcore trackrat. And it is STILL projected to outgun the Shelby GT350 in lateral g. Oh wow
  4. Basically these two cars have the GT350 fighting a two-front battle. The 1LE will match its performance for a lower cost, and the 1LE will start just above a loaded Shelby and annihilate it. 1.02g for both Camaro variants. Insanity
  5. Honda saw fit to make the new NSX an Acura in North America. And it's not exactly brimming with enthusiast product these days. FoMoCo's first priority, always and forever, is the Ford brand. It is the one that wears the family's name.
  6. So, to those who post articles saying the ZL1 won't compete against the GT350... Can we please never bring up the Stingray/Shelby comparo again? Can't have it both ways... right? As for the price points: the Camaro, in SS trim, is pushing it. But if bang for the buck is what they're all about then the Hellcat and ZL1 are right on-script.
  7. You have put the cart before the horse. Wings was a reaction to my action. I genuinely believe that Ford is that messed up. And until I see what I think is compelling evidence to the contrary, I will continue to be critical. Why on earth would I applaud mediocrity?
  8. It largely depends on curb weight and weight distribution. The GT350 weighs in around 3700 pounds. If the ZL1 weighs in at 3900-ish I'd say it's a legit comparo. Why would weight and distribution of said weight matter which car it compares to? Wouldn't it be more how the car is built and what it is built for? Like.. the GT350R is designed to be a road course car with relatively conservative power ratings and a flat plane crank(no low end tq) whereas the GT500's have been just gobs of power everywhere pretty much designed around a drag strip and cruising as opposed to staying flat over a set of switch-backs...like the last ZL1. Nope. Not in this case, anyhow. Consider: if the ZL1 rings in around, say, 60 large, it'll be right around the price of a loaded GT350. If the ZL1 weighs in around, say, 3900 poinds, it'll be just a smidge heavier than a GT350. The ZL1 will have MR shocks that allow you to tailor the ride to track or street. And, most importantly, the ZL1 will have 115 more hp and about 200 more pound-feet of twist. This is the great tragedy of the S550: it simply doesn't have the value-per-dollar of the Camaro. When your "track special" is in danger of being eclipsed by a midlevel Camaro, you probably will want to avert your eyes when a Camaro of equal price point drops.
  9. It largely depends on curb weight and weight distribution. The GT350 weighs in around 3700 pounds. If the ZL1 weighs in at 3900-ish I'd say it's a legit comparo.
  10. I suspect the 1LE will ride better than any of them. MR shocks and all. Your point about the newer car being better is not something you should take for granted. After all, let's not forget that the Alpha platform is actually OLDER than S550. Engineered to standard, not a price.
  11. GM's profit sheet would seem to indicate that the Camaro is pushing the envelope of affordability as opposed to tearing it. The weakest link in the Camaro chain price-wise is the 2SS, and even it offers a performance premium proportional to its price premium over the Mustang GT. In fact, if the 1LE comes in at 60 grand I would make the argument that it is, by far, the best value per dollar proposition for ponycar fans. It will almost certainly match the power to weight of a Hellcat but with more tire and gears, and it has the goods to annihilate the GT350.
  12. Great news for Camaro fans... but I'm not sure if it means the Z06 won't be getting a few more hp as well. New hood, new cooling upgrades...
  13. Tesla is American in much the same way Donald Trump is American: much talk, some sizzle, a game plan as organized as a herd of cats, all of it underpinned by a wave of unfocused anger at the establishment. I have no great love for what Ford is doing, but I at least can fathom what, exactly, that is.
  14. Eh. I just played it straight with my comment.
  15. Ambitious, and perhaps a bit cockamamie. In possibly related news, we have this link: http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/future-cars/news/a30157/musk-tesla-model-3-final-design/
  16. Your efforts are appreciated, and definitely noticed.
  17. They missed the target for results. Their competition didn't. They need new cars. Their stock is being hammered. They themselves predict reduced sales going forward. Your news is only good if you keep the blinders on.
  18. Drew: please do what you need to do to keep this thread open. But I do want it kept open. It's legit news, and it doesn't deserve to be locked up because certain individuals are having temper tantrums. Thanks in advance.
  19. Consider the source, man. If there's no good news, just attempt to distractify. But it won't work in this case. It's pretty bleak news in Dearborn today
  20. More inconvenient truths: GM operations for North America at 12.1% for 2Q16: https://www.gm.com/content/dam/gm/mo...Highlights.pdf Meanwhile, Ford's NA operating margin dropped from 12.9% in 1Q16 to 11.3% in 2Q16: https://media.ford.com/content/dam/f...financials.pdf That averages out to 12.1% for the first half. Those fleet sales surely didn't help with that.
  21. But this brings me around to my original point: if a company falls short of predictions based solely on its own shortcomings, that is a far worse issue than the randomness of life throwing a Brexit in the way. Or, was it the fault of the sources that the results went so pear-shaped? In which case, they need to fire people. Either way, it is GM and not Ford who is doing better right now. And right now is what you will find on your invertors report.
  22. Yup. Sounds like GM can hold the line on August clearouts.
  23. Tomorrow's troubles are tomorrow's troubles. Today's troubles are the ones that should be looked at, for two reasons: -today's troubles are largely self-inflicted, whereas Brexit is beyond any CEO's control. -I predict Brexit, like every other European treaty change, will shudder, groan, and generally slouch itself to a mushy middle that will keep everyone where they want to be-mildly grumpy, but ok.
