  1. Hope to see all saab owners there in support of our awesome brand. :AH-HA_wink:
  2. hahahaha this thread makes me laugh. The 9-2x is not in production after the 06 model year. They f@#ked up joining with subaru to build the 9-2x (and thats all GM's fault) It came out being a sweet car though. Personally i thought it was way better then Subaru's version of it. It was classyer looking and the different weight distribution saab added to it made the whole car handle and stick to the road way better then the subaru's did. They should have never ever made a non aero 9-2x though because no one wants a non-turbo saab, especially when its just a re-badge of another car. Saab is a FWD car and speaking for most, if not all saab tuners we wish that they would have made our cars in AWD, but then they would be a completely different car and my car would NOT be the car that i own and love to tune. The weight with AWD on a 9000 like mine (the model the 9-5 evolved from for those who dont know) would have ruined the car. Theres nothing wrong with a 5dr car weighing over 3,000lbs that can out accelerate a ferrari testerosa and a porche carrera 4 from 60-100mph stock. FWD or not, saabs are an impressive car. Saabs dont need to be AWD, there are other brands, like subaru to cover that. The problem with all of you, and all of GM is that you want to have 20 brands all with a line of products that are close if not exactly the same vehicle. Saab does not need a full line of AWD cars like subaru. They do not need a full line of SUV's like cadillac. What saab needs to be is left alone. They are quirky turbocharged cars that can be used as a large family car or a fast sports car. They dont need more products, they need better advertising. Why dont they advertise on the turbo? Why dont they advertise on safety when volvo markets there safety, and saab is proven safer. Why dont they advertise on interior space? Instead were advertising on our "born from jets" BS? who cares what we built before cars, sure it influenced design a lot and its an awesome story but thats no way to sell cars. but thats my two cents. Own a saab and love it and you will understand. -Kaylan Marie :AH-HA_wink:
  3. to bad everyone in the saab community loves it! -Kaylan Marie
  4. your all so worried about saab needed a huge selection of cars... but with the 900 series in production for like 20 years (and very succesful) and then the 9000 line in production for at least 12... they dont need a HUGE selection of cars but a very HIGH quality line on product to offer its customers... id rather have 2 GREAT cars to choose between then a line of 15 cars that are almost exactly the same that will have an oil leak before it hits 40k... saabs are luxary... not selection... although i wouldnt ever have any trouble finding one i like... now they have an AWD... an SUV... a convt... and the 9-3 combi for a smaller family wagon... the 9-5 wagon for a larger one... a 9-5 for a 4 door family car that has a sporty side... and then the 9-3 that you can get in 2 doors for just a sporty luxary fun car.
  5. the sonetts are beautyful cars! we have 3 in our garage right now i think... well we might be down to an orange one and a blue one... they are awesome fiberglass sports cars... i think the best saab concept ever was the EV-1 but they never produced the 300hp sports car in the 80's because they thought people would want a more "family sedan" so they scraped it and built the 9000 Aero at 225 hp ... and the ev-1 would have been sweet! i guess i shouldnt complain because if they did produce it i probably wouldnt have my aero! -KM
  6. The guys at my work (saab cadillac hummer dealersihp) say: "your supposed to be at home making muffins, not car parts" HAHA i thought that was 'cute' -Kaylan Marie :)
  7. *welcome* I just home that GM doesnt take all of saabs unique-ness and spread it across GM so that ALL of there other cars have all of the "saabish" things too... and then saab has nothing more to offer there customers... ah well we will see -Kaylan Marie
  8. i wasnt a fan of the eyebrows i had so thats why i made a grill with them molded in... it looks wayyyy better! :)
  9. sounds good... and Nick my car is a guy ;) LOL
  10. THANKS everyone for all of the nice comments... and whoever posted up the last picture of my grill thanks, and i dont mind at all! And heres an updated picture for all of you... its finally finished... painted... and on my car! =) Looks sweet huh?? I will do a good photoshoot of my car as soon as i put in my performance transmission and new clutch and get the thing out of the dark garage :( .... shouldnt be to much longer now! Also need to put those shiney 18" rims back on! Let me know what you think about the new grill. LOOKS MEAN DOESNT IT? blacked-out is the way to go :CG_all:
  11. i am a huge saab fan and i hate the new 9-5.... i mean yes it looks very mean... but its uglyer then anything ive ever seen!! and i like all of the buttons my car has... mine has i think wayyyyyyy more then any of the newer saabs... people get in and cant believe how many buttons there are.... but when its your car and everything is adjusted to your liking its awesome to have everything set and its not distracting at all.... ive never almost gotten into a wreck by adjusting anything! -Kaylan Marie
  12. It doesnt seem right to me that GM had much to do with the 9000.... The last model of the 9000 came into production in 1993 (and was in production until 98).... if i recal correctly GM bought out half of saab in 1995... thats 2 years later The body never changed any after 93. Maybe GM had something to do with the 9000 they had in 1998 (had wheels with bolts exposed and other minor changes... all of them had the aero engine and so on) Maybe they also had some influence on minor changes such as: On my 97 the door handels are different... window switches... stearing wheel... in dash sterio is changed... cup holder in the middle of the back armrest.... Maybe you know more on this then me but i am interested.! I was fully aware of the shared platform and the 'type 4' project. but if you have anymore information on what GM influenced on the 9k i would be glad to hear it and learn more! -Kaylan Marie :CG_all:
  13. yeah people that test drive a saab normally buy one... alot of statistics on that one! people just LOVE the way they drive. I know i sure do! And my speedo dims with all the other dash lights... they turn completely off... if i turn them off and my headlights off at night i cant see shit! Its fun when im following someone infront of me... and i also have no idea how fast im going.... only bad thing is that i cant see what RPM i am at... so i just have to feel what gear i should be in -Kaylan Marie
  14. Even my speedometer will dim =) makes it fun driving fast
  15. We got the first one into our dealership about a month ago... we put the European tail lights on (clear not red like U.S. spec ones) and it looks awesome.... i dont know why it says jan 06... we all got them WAY before that! =)
  16. see this article at http://www.activetestdrive.com/story/?story_id=152&cat=1 2006 Saab 9-3 Sport Combi Saab’s Latest Sport Wagon Big on Fun, Easy on Gas by Nina Russin 2006 Saab 9-3 Sport Combi Quick Facts Base Price: $27,620 Price as Tested: $33,165 Horespower: 210 @ 5500 r.p.m. Torque: 221 lbs.-ft. @ 2500 r.p.m. ABS Brakes: Standard Side Curtain Airbags: Standard EPA Fuel: 23/34 m.p.g. city/highway Towing Capability: No Off-Road Capability: No Bicycle Transport: Yes The Saab 9-3 Sport Combi is a mid-sized sport wagon based on the same platform as Saab’s compact sedan. The newest Saab wagon comes with a choice of two engines: the base turbocharged four cylinder, or an all-new 250-horsepower V6. For fans of the old Saab 9-3 Viggen five-door, the Sport Combi offers a similar approach to performance and versatility. Both the base an upscale Aero models are spirited road cars, with road-hugging suspensions and the ability to pull hard off the line. Gone, thankfully, is the Viggen’s tendency to understeer, thanks to a new rear axle suspension geometry. As a result, the average driver can push the Sport Combi at speed and in turns, without worrying about losing control. The four-cylinder version won our 2006 Active Lifestyle Vehicle of the Year award in the best value, on-road category. We loved the Sport Combi for its peppy, turbocharged performance, responsive steering, and just-right cargo area that easily holds a bike with the second-row seats folded flat. The classic Scandinavian design is attractive and timeless: exceptional interior ergonomics make the Sport Combi a comfortable ride for passengers of all sizes. Great Ride on Twisting, Two-Lane Roads We tested the the four-cylinder, turbocharged base model with the five-speed automatic transmission. In addition to its appealing sticker price (beginning at about $27,000), the four-banger gets exceptional fuel economy: 28 m.p.g. average city/highway. The turbocharger pumps extra air into the engine during hard acceleration to make better power without using more gas. Turbocharging also helps the engine to compensate for altitude, maintaining good performance at elevations up to 8,000 feet. Because the engine is running more efficiently, it also emits fewer bad emissions into the exhaust stream. The two-lane roads through the canyons around Borrego Springs, California provided the perfect setting for putting the Sport Combi through its paces. A rear roof spoiler kept the wagon tracking flat at all speeds, while minimal aerodynamic drag enhanced gas mileage. The Sport Combi features Saab’s proprietary ReAxs suspension: the dynamics of the rear axle are tuned to give the wheels better grip in the corners and resist the tendency of the front-wheel drive car to understeer. The system works by turning the rear wheels slightly in the opposite direction of the front wheels. As a result, a driver can push the Sport Combi to its limits without worrying about a loss of steering control. A four-wheel independent suspension comes standard, and a low-mounted rack-and-pinion steering rack provides a positive on-center feel when driving at speed. Antilock braking, traction control, and brake assist are standard active safety features. Ergonomic Interior The driver and front passenger seats are well adapted to drivers of all sizes, with good lumbar support, and a standard whiplash protection system that minimizes the risk of injury in rear-impact collisions. The instrument panel is configured to make it easy for the drive and front passenger to reach both the audio and dual-zone climate controls. The on-board computer automatically turns off warning lights when the driver’s workload is high: determined by heavy braking or use of the signal indicators. The idea is to minimize any driver distraction that could cause an accident. There is also a dimmer that turns down the instrument panel lights at night to reduce driver fatigue. The upholstery takes its cues from Scandinavian furniture: both the light (parchment) and dark (gray) color schemes give the interior a spacious, airy feeling. All models are available with a choice of three audio systems and a DVD-based satellite navigation system. The 60/40 split second-row seats are easy to fold flat, creating a long, functional cargo space. A standard tonneau cover hides the cargo fry prying eyes. Cargo nets hold grocery bags or other small items to keep them from spilling out onto the cargo floor. An airplane-shaped handle in the middle lifts up the rear of the cargo floor to reveal a second storage area under the floor with dividers to hold small items in place. Roof rails are standard on all models. Solid Structure Focuses on Safety A special team of engineers investigate all traffic accidents in Sweden that involve Saabs. As a result, Saab has a database of over six thousand real-life collisions. Product planners use that information to design software for safety engineering. While the 9-3 Sport Combi is similar to the sedan from the B-pillars forward, the rear of the car is all-new. Engineers reinforced the rear C and D pillars with transverse beams in the floor and roof for loss of the sedan cross-bracing. The central passenger area has a high percentage of high-strength and ultra high-strength steel, to create a rigid body structure without adding weight. The ignition switch is located in the center console, away from the knees, so that it cannot cause an injury if the legs hit the steering column during a collision. True Saab Through and Through A lot has been written recently about the impact of shared General Motors platforms on the Saab brand. The 9-3 Sport Combi is a unique vehicle, designed and built in Sweden. Long-time Saab aficionados will appreciate its peppy performance, user-friendly interior and Scandinavian design. Newcomers with love the Sport Combi for its fun ride, class-leading safety, and cargo-friendly interior. Saab’s new sport wagon is a practical car for urban dwellers, with exceptional maneuverability and fuel economy. It also excels on twisting two-lane roads. It has an exceptionally high level of standard active and passive safety features. Although it is a relatively small vehicle, the Sport Combi can hold a lot of cargo, including camping equipment, bicycles, kayaks, skis, and other essential gear for people with active lifestyles. We love the Saab 9-3 Sport Combi because it does all of these things seamlessly, and for a price within the limits of many new car buyers. The Saab 9-3 Sport Combi begins rolling into dealerships in January of 2006. -Kaylan Marie
  17. Its actually a sheet to our spare bed in the basement haha :AH-HA_wink:
  18. yeah thats the first stage of the new grill. Its going to be sweet when its finished. Im going to start actively working on it again today... ive been slacking. Im going to hopefully get alot done over the next week. I just work so much i have no time! -Kaylan Marie
  19. AWD!! YES! .... although i wish i could make my 9K AWD. That 9-5 in a few years is going to be a killer! i cant wait for people to modify them! -Kaylan Marie
  20. Sure did! havent gotten it yet though so i have no pix. I ordered 2 griffin gear decals as well and you know they were delayed for like weeks! Hopefully i will get my hoodie soon?? ! Im excited and will for sure post up pics. -Kaylan Marie
  21. Saab is and always has been a luxury brand. ....i even have a poster in my bedroom of a '79 just like my old one... and at the top it says "LUXURY NEVER MOVED SO WELL".... its an old dealership poster! Now the newest dealer poster i have is a picture of a new 9-3 Aero and it says "Fly first class" because the new slogan "born from jets" of course... -Kaylan Marie
  22. you dont honestly think i am a saab owner who believes its an indian head do you?? i thought thats what he was calling it and i was joking. i know its our beloved griffin B) i will post up a pic of my tat for you sometime PM me with you TSL name okay? funny... saab DID invent heated seats... i didnt mean that my car was the first year they made them.... want the story?? : someone who was working with saab designing a vehicle had a bad back... and during the winter time it got especially bad from the harsh cold temps they have in sweden. So they decided to put heating elements in the seats (these arent like the later seats where you turn them on with a switch/button/rolling adjuster but they turned on automatically when the car was on and it was below a certain temp outside. but anyways enough argueing.. and this isnt about saabs and cads i thought this was about saabs and pontiacs? what year did they start using them? its funny because they say around (and help me out on this percentage turbo rush... might be 75?) 70% of people who test drive a saab will buy one. They are an awesome car to drive... and i havent ever had anyone say anything bad about my car... exterior or interior... who can argue with black leather recaro racing seats?? that are heated, 8 way power adjustable and 3 memory settings? perfection in my eyes! And much better then your poncho? :CG_all: -Kaylan Marie sorry to start argueing and everything... im a perfectly resonable person and the only thing i will ever fight about (and i mean ever) is someone bad mouthing a saab. saabs are in my blood and insulting the brand is worse then anything you could do to me.
  23. okay so here are two statements you made that seriously pissed me off (im being honest here) well to start off my first car was a 1979 saab 900... im neither a college professor or a "pot-smoker"... im a girl who when she was 16 years old had $800.00 to buy a car... well i got one... perfect condition in every way you could imagine... i mean hell it was made in 1979 and it had HEATED seats... im sure that if you drive a pontiac it doesnt even have them now... i had a friend who was driving a 2001 pontiac and it was a pile of trash... we would take my car out everywhere we went.. she didnt even have power door locks or heated seats or anything! Yes my first saab DID have the key in the center but my current one doesnt... most of them do... and thats just a mark of the brand... all brands should keep things from there past and evolve around them to form a unique car thats not like every other car at every other dealership... haha i have that "indian head emblem" tattoo'd on me right below my bikini line... funny how people have different tastes... i love that emblem B) Anyways... yes saabs are quirky cars and thats why anyone who has one loves it... yes they are expenisve but to the owners are worth every penny. SAAB isnt one of GM's biggest and most succesful brands... they are very under-marketed... if GM would invest in some better marketing SAAB could really go places. In todays world it doesnt matter how good of a product you have, but how well it is advertised. Heres my "FWD 4-banger hatchback with a particularly upright windsheild" 46K new and lovin it. . . you all are thinking about saabs so negatively... why dont you open your mind a little and look at how much people are dedicated to there saabs and try to understand why we love them so much and why we want the brand to survive. . . i dont like pontiacs and no one could pay me any amount of money to drive one instead of my saab... but that being said i dont wish the brand to fail either. :CG_all: -Kaylan Marie
  24. SAABS ROCK!! =) i havent had any electrical problems with any of my saabs except the damn CD player thing... mine doesnt like some types of burnt CD's.... so i just started buying the CD's from the stores!. . . ;) -Kaylan Marie p.s. nice hoodie! =)
  25. Pictures in a week or so.... im sick AGAIN (going back to the doc for the 5th time this week...) but will have done enough for photos hopefully by monday.... B) -Kaylan Marie SAABS ROCK ^_^
