    GMC Acadia

acadia reminds me of acadian, the Pontiac Chevette
  2. both of those are lacking around here sometimes.
  3. i think your assessment of a 900 buyer and a 360 buyer is inaccurate. i personally do not believe they are the same buyer. if u drop the 900's will those people buy 360? some, but not most. they need/want a full size suv for a reason and a midsize will not cut it, no matter what the cost of gas. and they will shop another brand. (you think an Escalade buyer or a Denali buyer (who has a higher income than an Escalade buyer) give a hoot about the price of gas? you ever see any of them towing anything?) however, if you drop the 360 will those midsize buyers move from BOF to lamba? yes they will, for the most part. in fact, if you keep the TB name on the lamba and the inside has a sharper interior, a more flexible interior and tows almost as much does it matter if it is BOF or not? no. and if they really do need to tow something then they'll move up to the Tahoe.
  4. can't the 361 interior be fitted to the 360 as a mid-life refresh? that along with some new fenders etc would do fine. or is that all 361 was anyway?
  5. i don't think anyone is calling it a loser. however, there is no business case to invest millions into a program that at best will maintain volume and more than likely will decrease due to external influences ie, gas prices. beside most of those lost sales will go to the GM crossovers anyway. muslce cars were 'historically great selling products' but you don't see many of them around now. the times have changed. kudos to GM for not investing unnecessarily in a declining market. as i said before, let's hope they've done the right thing with the lambdas and haven't cut corners. if done right, they will pickup the slack from 360 sales and more importantly, HOPEFULLY draw in conquest sales.
  6. i'm guessing many future GMT-360 buyers will consider the new crossovers as more suitable for their needs. and while the 900's are important, i think the crossovers are critical in the new portfolio. i hope they didn't scrimp on them. guess we have to wait a few more months to see!
  7. hmmm, who voted that guy into office AGAIN, anyway?
  8. then you'll be happy to know that I say a commercial for a 2-door Pontiac Pursuit. (canada only. and looks identical to cobalt excpet with arrowhead instead of bow-tie
  9. forgetting about comparisons and such. and let's get down to basic business and price elasticity. if the price of the XLR-V was $95k how many more would they sell? what if it was $90k? same for the STS-V. if the price was $75k or $72.5k or $70k, how many more would GM sell? I'm not certain that they would sell significantly more at such a nominal reduced cost. as a result, GM makes more profit at the higher prices. on top of that, what's the word on production? how many NS-SC engines can GMPD actually build and at what cost? could they support a 20% increase in production volume if demand was there? at what cost? do they want to? at $25k less than an SL55 AMG, I'd say that Cadillac is at a signifcant cost savings to warrant a second look by enthusiasts and entice ome conquest sales. the bulk will likely go to existing XLR owners or corvette/gm owners. the sts-v, is a lot closer in price to M5 and E55 so not going to make as strong a play on the 'value' side like the CTS-V did. however, i'm betting it is a worthy competitor technically for those two vehicles and probably is a good compromise between the two in terms of overall performance/luxury, with the only major gripe being some of the interior bits and sylte of the interior (which is subjective anyway). i look forward to the comparison tests in the mags and can't wait to the see the rare STS-V and XLR-V on Toronto streets.
  10. who was the twit that put the front licence plate on the Solstice? bad enough it needs it on the street, but not at an auto show. the suzuki makes me thing of some other SUV twins, but just can't see to put my finger on it. this will torrent me for the rest of the day. gas prices get any worse and I might be looking at a four-four..... NOT. Ted, any world premieres up there in Barrie?
  11. The CTS debuted Jan 2002 as a 2003. But in reality it was only 4 months late to the 2002 debuts, which were Fall 2001. To me that says 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006. Plus since AH-HA said to look for it at NAIAS 2007, says that it will be a 2008 model, meaing 2007 is a production year for current model, which is 6 years. So, my questions: 1. When and where would we expect an introduction of the new car? 2. When do we expect it to be available for customer delivery?
  12. are u suggesting that the torque steer in the DTS is significantly greater than any other FWD car?
  13. i think you are grasping for straws. how many Delta vehicles do we need? who is going to buy a buick delta? a 4cyl in the lacrosse? why? i suspect gmc will get more crossover options than buick. and didn't gm ditch cvt cause they botched it pretty good? and what advanced hybrid systems? i think that is still a ways off.
  14. I saw a dark green Solstice with a black roof (up) on the road in Toronto on Wednesday. the car looks FANTASTIC in person.
  15. i think you need to get your head out of the sand. toyota is kicking GM's butt all over the place with no end in sight. GM will be no where near Toyota's development time, let alone surpassing it by 2010 or even 2015 Toyota made huge profits in the past several years. GM continues to lose money with every vehicle purchased. Toyota is gaining market share and GM is losing market share. it's a lot easier to make improvements when you're making money.
  16. yup. it's a tough thing to break. with the 'promo cocaine' that GM has got their buyers hooked on, it is going to be extremely tough to get them off. gonna be a whole lotta withdrawl symptoms. fewer incentives means fewer vehicles sold, which means lower mkt share which is bad. if GM blinks then that means more incentives to keep the sales moving. employee pricing, like most of the bigger promos are just bringing forward future sales. at some point something has to give. either the sales dry up OR GM comes to market with vehicles that people 'gotta have'. let's hope the new array of vehicles (with proper pricing) are enough to end the downward spiral.
  17. SRX needs 1. price correction, 2. interior overhaual (presumably with the new CTS interior in the works and 3. minor exterior tweaking to make it modestly different from the current style (modestly!) of course, #1 is possible, but #2 and #3 are unlikely in the short term
