  2. Not at all. Sitting outside an eating establishment while in grad school having a burger with an Austrian MBA student, the (above, per German description) walks by on the sidewalk across the street. Me: How would you describe THAT in German? Johannes (with typical Germanic matter-of-factness): Eine gros schwarze frau. That's the first thing I learned in German. Great for a belly laugh...or getting punched in the mouth.
  3. how abot tzatsiki sauce or hummus?
  4. It would be really weird to park a padded landau 73-77 GP next to a 2004 white GP sedan. Interesting. Numerous circles in the dash would be the only thing in common. I've always maintained that, if the 73-77 GP wasn't as provocatively styled and had no fender-top ridges for both the hood and the rear deck, they might have chipped into the Cutlass/Regal market a little more.
  5. Ser gut, and never forget, if you see "eine gros schwarze frau" rolling down the sidewalk, she'll be American for sure, so say "Hi"
  6. Road trip...road trip...

  18. How seriously messed up. Unbelievable. That's almost kind of a liberal brand of "packaging." I had a friend who went to Berkeley who said "how can a place be liberal when it has a list of 'shoulds' as long as your arm?" I've never gotten grief for my car. In fact, people at more than one employer have made fun of my cars all in "good fun"...the burgundy interior in the Regal or the trademark "loose pillow" seats in my mid-80s Cutlass Brougham coupe. However, I have gotten flack for NOT wanting to go eat spicy Southeast Asian food. Sorry, but Thai or Vietnamese or Indian food makes me gag...and I've gone home sick within 2 hours after eating it. It's almost as if I'm not cool or even ethnocentric because I tend to eat Italian, American or Greek food practically all the time. Back to cars...

  20. Oh, yeah, here's another one that might be inconceivable to you....unless you live on the "Left Coast:" "eeew, you like American cars?" I've actually heard that before.
  21. C'mon, Reg, is there an easier question for me to answer? A Subaru!!! Now, if she had a Subaru, chances are she wouldn't have accepted the invitation in the first place.

  23. I love it. The math: .829 x 3.785 (liter to gallon) x 1/1.225 (current exchange) = $2.56 US a gallon. Not bad.

  25. Last night, I was driving home and saw some nice gas prices. I found, at a Safeway filling station, in Northern California (though not coastal), gas for $ 2.52.9 and that was prior to the 3 cent Safeway club card discount. That puts it at a hair under $2.50. That same Safeway, 6 months ago, had gone as high as $ 4.49.9. Looks like I may take a few road trips. What's happening with fuel prices in your area?
