  2. That's a riot. He looks like a big dog that couldn't hurt you. But those aren't waters I'd want to test! I don't think this would happen at South Lake Tahoe or Incline Village where the population density is a little high...and there are more than a few Starbucks, but way up on Kingsbury Grade, it's a definite possibility. In fact, if one approaches the lake from Carson City on US 50, there's a road sign with the bear graphics (much like the Cali flag) and the words BEAR XING. Now, coming up from the California side, on 50 or 80, there is no such sign. I would have loved to have seen that occurrence in person. Too funny.

  4. Why is it that ANY thread having ANYTHING to do with ocnblu within a matter of 15 posts gets dragged into the mud? Some things are so predictable.

  7. Who'll pitch and who'll catch, Reg? I'm afraid to ask.

  9. Very true....this will be the last cycle of anything for this car (tune ups, tires, struts, etc.)

  11. Well, they need RWD for the eventual "chase scene", right? But, what's more frightening, this pudgy sled or the mid 1990s RWD Impala/Caprice they used?
  12. That's a classic...and so true. Just think, I got hit with waves of those types at the convention....and I was trying to convince you to go!!!

  14. Much worse. My first place in one was leaving the Porto, Portugal airport lot and merging on a ramp. I thought to myself "what the f*** is this?". I was tempted to bring it (and all of them) back for a manual...and anyone who knows me knows I don't like to shift any more.
  15. That's a keeper. Very funny.I will look and make a few stealth phone calls as well. Thanks.
  16. You are a riot! The fact that you're so much more stealth than the others on here makes it that much funnier. :rotflmao:
  17. That is beyond "bitchin' ". You got that out of the front of Chilton's, right? I love those sketches they have in there. Here's my line up....boring: Monday - Buick LaCrosse CX - a reliable way to start the week Tuesday - Chevrolet Monte Carlo LT - a little more pizzazz (but not much more, lol) Wednesday - Cadillac DTS - the king of the road to conquer hump day Thursday - Pontiac Grand Prix GT - revving up for the weekend Friday - Cadillac STS - half day, if you can sneak out the back because the foothills beckon Saturday - Pontiac GTO - silver and burgundy, pull out all the stops Sunday - ditto - do it again, get your fill in before confronting responsibility...and the Buick, lol
  18. We don't have any out West....or at least, all the way out West. The only one I've ever eaten at was in fact in Tennesse, as I was moving back westward from Atlanta. It's great comfort food, for sure, but the trinket store up front, good Gawd, that's tacky.
  19. You seem to have all these mishaps with SUV/truck owners...on the road, at Starbucks...just what kind of vibes are you sending out? :AH-HA_wink:
  20. At nearly a quarter million miles, I will be buying a set of 4 new tires for my Regal W-body coupe. It is currently on its 3rd pair of struts. I will replace the front struts. They don't cost that much. The rears are a different story. They are considerably more expensive and I've never figured out why. Currently, when you push down on the rear, it's as firm as when they were new (about 60,000 miles ago) and there is zero bounce. However, on the right rear side, I think the bearing plate has gone south because when you go over a bump in a diagonal fashion, you get a nice clanking sound. Also, the rubber boot around the cartridge has a tear. Two questions: 1. Is it possible to have the place replace a bearing plate at the top of the strut assembly? 2. Can they change out the rubber boot? Thanks.
  21. I don't think I'd ever own one. I somewhat (term used loosely) like the Rainier for the way it's appointed. I somewhat (term used not so loosely) hate the Escalade for the jerky guys and bitchy chicks I see behind the wheels of them. Over the 4th of July weekend, I was cut off by at least a handful of Escalades and I was on freeways going at or slightly above the posted limit.
  22. Have you ever driven one? I lived in one for 4 days in Northern Italy last summer. I had the ForFour because I told the chick at the counter that, as an American, the ForTwo scared the crap out of me. She smiled and gave me the ForFour edition. It's all right. I don't think it gets THAT much better mileage than anything we currently have. I don't know about the mechanics. Heck...it could be a "throw away" car. One thing is for sure: the automatic transmission technology is appallingly bad....the damn thing has a pause so pronounced at upshifts, you'd think you were going to stall. I couldn't believe it...I had 4 automatic transes in econoboxes over there and the quality of the driving experience bordered on almost horrible in each car as a result of the automatic. It had better have an improved trans if it is to make any inroads on this side of the pond.
  23. That's pretty intense. You could have avoided all the &^%* by pretending you were Filipino. They "puck," you know. "Don't spill Prench pries in my Pirebird or I'll make lipe bery painpul por you." Say that 3x real fast.
  24. Reg, you are incorrigible. One of the few archis I know that's NOT uptight. Don't most of them suck?
