  1. That would make for a hell of center/conversation piece!
  2. Now we'll see if the unions are smart enough to agree, or decline and loose their jobs all together.
  3. Big news It's looking very likely that I will be acquiring a 107,000 mile 3.5 V6 from an `01 300M. They did a compression test on it for me and all 6 cylinders showed 100 psi. Oil pan's good. No white milky oil. I need to look it over with my check list and carefully inspect it some more. However assuming it checks out, they'll sell it to me for $900 I've got myself a Colorado to do the transport work, so I can give a writeup on that too.
  4. REPORT: Cadillac Converj Green Lighted Motor Trend is reportinging that GM has given the Converj the green light for production in 2011. Follow the jump to learn more. http://www.cheersandgears.com/index.php?sh...c=30427&hl=
  5. Pontiac's fate to be decided in 2010 Follow the jump for more details. http://www.cheersandgears.com/index.php?sh...t=0&start=0
  6. Good, I'm glad he's not pussy footing around.
  7. The assembly is plastic riveted and they tend to break. On this example you can see where one of the mounts broke off on the lower left side of the first photo. That makes this assembly no good (plus it has plood molded on)
  8. How well does the double sided tape work anyway? As good as the stuff that holds the moldings on now?
  9. Plastic sucks. The is one of those areas where older cars are way better. Even the Prizm's door handle assembly is screwed together for easy removal....which is good since they break a lot.
  10. There is actually as conspiracy theory behind PINAS. The theory goes that while the voice actor was reading his line, "snooping as usual I see" he put extra emphasis on PING AS. So there you go.
  11. It looks like it's molded/melted plastic. I could try breaking it off. I just don't wan to break teh housing. This particular housing I don't care about, but I want to do it right on my door panels.
  12. I posted this on a Mopar forum but haven't gotten a response. Maybe someone here knows the trick. Basically i want to swap out my black plastic door handles for chrome ones. I've wanted to for a while, but never knew how to do it. I'm told that the pin has to be removed to do this, but don't know how to remove said pin.
  13. At the Detroit Auto Show in January, General Motors surprised the crowd with a concept coupe called the Cadillac Converj. Built on the same Voltec platform as the Chevrolet Volt, the Converj was seen as a way for GM to leverage the pricey ER-EV drivetrain in a vehicle that could sell at a premium price, recovering some of the development costs. According to Motor Trend, the Converj has been given the green light for production in 2011, a year after the Volt launches. When we talked to GM's Bob Kruse at the Detroit show, he indicated a production Converj would likely use the same powertrain as the Volt, although it could have different calibrations to allow somewhat higher performance than the Chevrolet. If the Converj does move forward, the proportions might have to change in order to use the same under-structure as the Volt. However, the larger stumbling block to building the Converj is money – or a lack thereof. Unless some kind of deal is struck between the Treasury and Energy Departments to allows GM to tap into ATVM loans, there won't be enough cash in GM's coffers to build the Converj. Autoblog
  14. I used nothing, that's how it was when I bought it. Thank you so much for the tips! I'm going to do this tomorrow as soon as I get back from the junkyard with what I hope to be some other little goodies.
  15. I only recall the Cobalt "flying" off teh shelves when gas prices were high. Not only that, but pretty soon the Fiesta will be here. Add that to the increasing list of available small cars and only a retard would choose an Aveo, G3, or Yaris.
  16. I think it's just the trim that throws it off for me as well. I agree that the black trim looks more faded on the front door and it bugs me. I thought you weren't supposed to wax unpainted surfaces though? Maybe I'm wrong there though. I just went out and inspected the hood to fender gaps on both sides and they are both uniform from the windshield to the headlight.
  17. Yeah, that sounds pretty draining, I'm sure Sixty8 can relate. If you feel you can handle it I would hang on to what you you've got. Many others aren't so lucky.
  18. I want to see a Brillance pitted against an Accord or something.
  19. As the story goes, Esso Oil asked custom car guru George Barris (he of Batmobile, Munster Koach and Drag-u-la fame) to create four custom Oldsmobile Toronado coupes for the 1967 Canadian Expo. The car you see above is dubbed Toronado 67X, and according to the seller on eBay, it is one of the only two cars remaining. The big coupe was originally gold, but time and poor treatment have turned it a lovely shade of something other than gold (well, several lovely shades, actually). Although the auction has just ended, we thought you'd still enjoy a glimpse of what the seller calls the "Project car find of a lifetime" (which might be how long it would take to get it back together). Structurally, the Olds appears to be sound enough, but you can forget about the floorboards and the interior (which includes a wraparound rear couch!). Despite its obvious shortcomings, the car's provenance has helped it gain an appraisal value of $21,500 (which is about $15,000 more than a brand new Toronado listed for in 1966). On the auction itself, there's even a video of the engine running but you hear a lot more wind than engine. The car was bid to $7,701 but ultimately failed to meet reserve, so we expect to see it back up on the ol' eBay block sooner rather than later. In the meantime, click the link below to learn more about this unique piece of Barris history, and check out the gallery of photos below. Hat tip to Jay! Autoblog
  20. Anyone a member? I've known about it for years but decided to actually join it recently. Was just curious if any fellow C&Gers were members.
  21. Of course it isn't official, it's a photochop obviously.
  22. The sleep nose of the LaCrosse doesn't mesh well with the box design of teh Orlando. It looks forced.
  23. I think that's part of the pint. In real life, accident's don't involve a standardized barrier at a standardized speed. There's a ton of variables.
  24. And with that statement, we have one of the big reasons why GM is such a clusterf@#k. Too busy competing with itself.
  25. Thanks deft...I strive for perfection if at all possible...or as close as I can get anyway. The rust isn't through...it's very solid (thankfully).
