Very sad, isn't it? DCX (minus Mercedes) was my favorite make of car. Well, they've made me re-think that the last year or two. The only vehicles I think they have that are worth buying are the 300C/Charger/Magnum and Grand Cherokee. If you'd like, go ahead and count the Wrangler models. I'd also add the Pacifica, but it's being killed. Note that I didn't list the Viper. The Viper is a great vehicle, but for what it is, it should be a hell of a lot more. It's got a terrible interior and, from what I've heard, more problems than any $80,000 vehicle should have. It's quick, fast, and good handling, but bested by a vehicle that costs $10,000 less than it.Chrysler's design has gone far downhill both inside and outside the vehicles. Next would be their quality. I haven't seen a high-quality vehicle from Chrysler in awhile aside from the vehicles I've listed. All of the Dodge vehicles look the cheap and too similar to each other. A couple Jeeps (and the Caliber) share the same cheap interior while all the Jeeps have managed to become dumbed down "ideas" of small SUVs (note: not "ideals"). Most of the attractive Chrysler vehicles are getting cut while the ones that remain are nothing near where a Chrysler vehicle should be. Next would be their engines. I don't feel that the Chrysler engines are nearly at par with any of the competition. My mom's got a 2005 Durango with the 4.7L Magnum. That engine is nowhere near as powerful or efficient as it should be. Then, take all of the Hemis. Now, I know the 6.1 is getting more HP soon, but the 5.7 and 6.1 are nowhere near the efficiency that they should be; they're all power, no finesse.
Honestly, Chrysler has the potential to be a great company, but over the last little while, I've lost much respect for them. My mom, who has raised on the income of two Chrysler-working parents (who both put in over 25 years with the company before retiring under the Chrysler name), is now starting to move past Chrysler after having not one, not two, but three faulty Dodge vehicles out of her last four (two Durangos and a Caravan). My best friend who has grown up on his retired-from-Chrysler grandfather's wage and has always named Dodge as his favorite brand has lately been telling me how Dodge is moving lower and lower on his rankings of favorite automakers.
I don't know about you or anybody else, but I know how I feel. Chrysler has come a long way from great in the last few years. They should focus on the vehicles they already make moreso than creating all of these sub-par vehicles that they keep coming out with. Chrysler's going downhill and, not only can they not seem to find a way out of it, but it looks like they don't even realize how terrible their products are. I kind of want to feel sorry for them..
