I could comment on a thing or two myself, but I'll hold my word.
-
Yep, I've been looking at this thing awhile and there's not much I can point out that I dislike. Another thing is that I'm happy to see no real negative remarks on the interior. My company did a lot of work with that interior.

2008 Infiniti QX56
NOS2006 replied to Variance's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)
Agreed. This thing looks downright horrible, IMO. -
I was under the assumption that the turbo SS would come with the mid-cycle-refresh.

That's all I'm worried about. I have State Farm, too, so I know that they're ridiculous. Besides, I'm already in MI, so rates are already high.I'm just going to write a letter and send in the ticket ASAP. We'll see what happens from there..

2008 Ford Five-Hundred
NOS2006 replied to Flybrian's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)
Whoa. It went from bland to ugly. Why? -
That would be sweet, but who knows. I'm curious on a few things as well. When will the Impala be shown? And the Pontiac sedan?

Weekdays are better, but it's not terrible on the weekends. I mean, it's crowded, yeah, but you'll be able to see everything you'd like to. Last year I went on the first day of it being open to the public, and I am again this year (this coming Saturday). And, yes, you'll definitely be able to sit in vehicles. Last year I sat in the Yukon and a few other vehicles. They also had stations where you can get your picture taken (for free) with different vehicles. I got one with a buddy being a jackass in front of the gorgeous new Aspen. *choke* Have a great time though. What day are you planning on going? And welcome to C&G!

The foglight placement is terrible.

Instead of saying it's similar to the Grand Prix GXP's engine, why didn't they say it's an upgraded version of the Corvette's engine? Wouldn't that sound better and be more intriguing for the average viewer?

It's just so fugly.. Is that just me? -
Hell yeah! Just two of many more to come.

Oh man, I first started reading that and I thought someone else was posting for you. I started getting sad.. I had to skip to oblu's post. Good to see you're doing well though since your last surgery.

Yeah, well I didn't plan on fighting the ticket. I'd like to go to court to plead guilty though. However, I just want it to be known at court that I'm pleading guilty to five over, not the 50 in a 35. I'll just explain that I'm just learning to downshift to slow down (and I really am, I just started doing that just recently). So, we'll see what happens.
-
Mmmhmm. Driving down the road, knowing the speed limit is 45, I'm going approximately the limit. Well, I know that the road is about to reduce speed to 35 MPH, and I look down to see that I'm going 47. Well, I depress the clutch and downshift to fourth to slow down some. While doing so, I look up to see the "Speed Limit Reduced to 35 MPH" sign. Now I've slowed down a bit, but not enough, so I downshift to third. Just as I downshift I see a policeman on the side of the road, right after the 35 MPH sign. Well, needless to say, he pulls out and by the time he got behind me I was going less than 35 to slow down for railroad tracks. He flips the lights and that's all she wrote. The outcome? He asks for license/registration/proof of insurance, as I give it to him he just says that I was speeding and walks away. He didn't say anything else, just that I was speeding. He comes back about 5-10 mins later, hands me my license and that, then gives me a ticket. Upon handing it to me, he tells me that he clocked me right at 50 MPH in a 35 zone, but he only wrote me for 5 over. I grabbed the ticket, glanced down at it, go to look up again at him, and I already see his car pulling away. Wonderful. Parents are pissed at me, and I'm pissed myself because I know what I was doing and I definitely wasn't doing 15 over. The most he could've caught me at was 47 and that was definitely before the speed limit dropped to the official 35 MPH zone. I had already downshifted and been slowing down by the time I hit that sign, but I have no proof to say that I'm right.. EDIT: Oh, and I might add that this was definitely not something I had seen coming. Just prior to that, we were coming from the mall, where we went to the pretzel place with a friend of the person I was with. They had a tip jar that had in small letters something like "Please give us a tip" and in large letters below it "Karma." So, without even spending a red cent at the pretzel place, I threw into the jar all the pocket change I had for some good karma later on. And, on top of that, just before going to the mall we went to Starbucks. Standing outside Starbucks was a gentleman asking me to buy candy to support his church. I gave him a dollar for the candy, and I totally didn't want the candy because it was all chocolate and chocolate gives me a headache (matter of fact, I have a headache right now from it). But, it's just that I went out of my way and donated twice today when I NEVER donate to anything, then I get a bad break and a ticket in result of it.

Well I guess we'll get a glimpse of that within the next week or two with Pontiac's sedan debut at NAIAS...

Eh, whatever. Rain doesn't hurt me. After it stopped raining, I took my microfiber and dried the car off (I put it in the garage while it rained and obviously didn't dry it after washing). Took some tire shine and sprayed 'er on. Take that, Michigan.

This could be in "Other Guys," but I think that forum's better for discussion on news, not on opinions. Looking at the things Cadillac is coming out with, with exaggeration on the NG CTS, is it a stretch to say that BMW could easily start losing ground to its competitors? Okay, so the CTS is just one model, but figure in the coupe and wagon that will come out after the sedan and you're going to get a great vehicle. We all know the sedan will be sexy just judging by what we've seen of it, inside and out. It's got everything that Cadillac's Art and Science theme had and more. A very crisp design, the NG CTS could very easily steal many consumers from BMW's band of buyers. Now, I'm not saying that just the CTS is going to single handedly send BMW to bankruptcy; that's not my intention at all. Look at the things Jaguar is starting to get into. With the new C-XF concept that IMO resembles its cousin, the DB9, Ford is showing they may finally understand what Jaguar is all about. Is it too late? I highly doubt that. Jaguar is still a highly reputable name in the industry. Let's hope this concept is a sign of what's to come and that Jaguar can improve upon its newest production model, the XK. If they were to produce the C-XF, I feel Jaguar could gain back some ground, especially if they put an effort into fixing the X-type and XJ. And, back to Cadillac. Looking at the NG CTS, I feel this is a look at what's to come. The STS is a very nice vehicle, and the Escalade just got redesigned. Cadillac is still a huge player in the game and, if the CTS is any indication of the start of A&S v2, the next few years will prove Cadillac to be a much better brand than many have thought over the last fifteen or so years. So, what do you think? Can Jaguar and Cadillac help push buyers from BMW and make them come stateside (considering that Jaguar is technically owned by Ford)? Again, this isn't to say that BMW's going to become the new GM of the '80s and '90s, but there is definitely room for them to lose ground on. They've got fine vehicles, but I feel that the Americans are getting a grip on how to make a finer vehicle. Discuss.

More Jag C-XF Pics
NOS2006 replied to BB_454's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)
Damn, I really like this thing. Although less sophisticated, it almost has a DB9 essence to it; this is exactly what Jaguar should be IMO. The grille looks as if it belongs on a Buick, but it's still very sexy. I can't wait to see this thing in person. -
Yeah, gotta love Michigan. We have a 20% chance of rain today, so I figured I'd go out and wash the Cobalt. Right as I start, it starts sprinkling, so I did the wheels and it stopped. Cool. So I've got everything done except the tail end and it starts downpouring. Oh well, at least it's clean now, even if it has water marks all over it. It was so dirty...

Congratulations, oblu! Enjoy the hell out of the truck and keep us updated into ownership! I expect a thread full of pictures, and no threads that deal with you getting rammed by a Toyota.

Damn, the good luck continues into the New Year, eh?

Um, do those things literally have a table in them? :rotflmao:

I also heard today that there is talk of a coupe/wagon. Coupe goes without saying, but I didn't expect there to be a wagon version.
